What have you forgotten from a hotel room?

I have just got back from an overnight stay and have realised I left my little bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom.

When we got married we left dh's wedding suit hanging in the wardrobe (luckily realised quite quickly and went back)

One hotel stay we discovered the remains of someone's takeaway in a drawer.

So what have you forgotten?

Just left cordless headphones. I should phone them up.
2 iPhone chargers
Worst one ? I left a bottle of lovely cava in the mini bar to chill, chocolates and sandwiches - first time in history a mini bar was added to.

My daughter's tablet (Samsung, not medication) in a wardrobe which we got back. Also my Kindle, in a different hotel, which we also got back!

The Kindle I realised I'd left straight away, the tablet it took me about three days of searching through bags and luggage before I realised that it might still be in the hotel!

A philosophy book that changed my life. I'd found it 2 days earlier abandoned in another hotel room, read it, lost it. It was in 1988 but I think about it all the time and live by the lessons I learned. I don't know the name of it so have never found another copy.

My house keys, office keys and an expired debit card in a hotel safe

A breastfeeding pillow, it was huge so not sure how we missed it. We were on a one night stopover en route to somewhere else, so they put it away for me and we picked it up on the return journey a week later.

SunshineCake · 15/11/2019 22:25

I didn't forget it but my new black bra went missing while on honeymoon and then it was never seen again. It was really lovely too Sad. Not that it would fit me after 3 kids and 20 years Grin.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 15/11/2019 22:26

My dds charger. Luckily we realised and dh phoned reception. They found it and posted it back. We’re usually bloody vigilant.

My special teddy when I was 12. Still miss him

Dandelionflower · 15/11/2019 22:41

I used to be a hotel housekeeper. Someone left their vibrator, phoned reception and asked if the item they left behind could be posted to her, it "should fit in a small jiffy bag." Said item was hidden under the pillows, and had been switched on accidentally by my fellow cleaner. Oh how she screamed when she realised. We let the battery die. I can't remember if it was posted to her or not.

A hamster sleeping in its cage was also left behind, the owners never returned for the hamster. It got a lovely new home from one of the receptionists.

6 little pots of caviar, I had no idea what it was, thought it was shoe polish and nearly threw it out until a concierge enlightened me.

JasperRising · 15/11/2019 22:42

Camera. Cost quite a bit to get it posted back!

Everytimeref · 15/11/2019 22:47

A mirror. The room didn't have one so my DH brought the one from our dressing table and we forgot to pick up when we left.

OctoberLovers · 15/11/2019 22:52

Do the hotels generally not send back if something is found in a room?

When ever i was on holiday, normally in a country like Egypt... I would leave sandals, clothes, toiletries, cap, sunglasses etc...
I would write a note, detailing what i have left and saying the maid could have the items, with my telephone number on etc, incase she got accused of stealing

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 15/11/2019 22:54

A favourite teddy when I was about 7 or 8, still not got over that one Grin

Sweetpeach3 · 15/11/2019 23:04

A brand new £400 pair of trainers. Was devastated but only realised once we landed back in the UK! Bumerrrr lol

CactusAndCacti · 15/11/2019 23:05

I am so sad about the teddies and the poor hamster -who?, why? how?

I usually check, and check again, but I was on my own (usually worrying about everyone else) and I had overslept so was a lot tighter for time so did more of a cursory glance.

But I did remember to pick up the John Lewis Edgar that I bought yesterday, so all is good.(which are already being sold for double on ebay)

A white company mattress protector. Ticker DS used to comb into our bed on the way to the loo and you can guess the rest.

I'm normally very good at sweeping hotel rooms, and im still cross with myself about this.

teenageanxy · 15/11/2019 23:21

Kegal exerciser!!! 😳

LemonPrism · 15/11/2019 23:22

Kindle, charger, book.... half a bottle of whiskey poured into a glass because the bottle cracked. They must have thought I was a right alcoholic

itssquidstella · 15/11/2019 23:23

A dress and a jumper, worth about £300. Luckily they were able to post them back to me, though I had to pay postage.

LemonPrism · 15/11/2019 23:26

Oh! I forgot I left an entire drawer full of clothes... was rushing and completely forgot my dirty clothes drawer. Cost a bomb to send back from the US

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 15/11/2019 23:26

Bottle of champagne

Vinorosso74 · 15/11/2019 23:26

Contraceptive pills. The packet must have fallen off somewhere.
