I truly loathe this film. So so glad Richard Curtis has stopped writing unutterable crap .

I also loathed, with a passion, Four Weddings but ended up having a grudging soft spot for it once I unraveled the class subplot. But the revolting cow played by Andie McDowall is a serious trial each and every time.

Sorry op, it's a no from me.

gothefcktosleep · 15/11/2019 00:44

Andrew Lincoln.... 🤤

TinklyLittleLaugh · 15/11/2019 01:14

My DS (lovely lad but fairly ordinary looks wise) said that when he went to California, gorgeous women did indeed fawn over him because of his accent.

blackmould · 15/11/2019 07:50

Cool, did he bring one back as a present for his mate?

JellyfishAndShells · 15/11/2019 08:06

That whiny unfunny Jezebel article lost me at complaining at the ‘unexamined privilege’ of setting the opening in an airport Hmm

Is it raining? I haven’t noticed...

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/11/2019 08:11

I've never seen it, nobody is tempting me here. I may dig out Paddington 2 though, Hugh Grant's masterpiece in my opinion.

CatUnderTheStairs · 15/11/2019 08:13

Love Emma Thompson in it, the rest of it is fairy harmless take your brain out nostalgic for where I was when I first watched it.

BustedDreams · 15/11/2019 08:41

Love it! I only saw it for the first time myself about 2 years ago. It’s in the Bridget Jones category (I love those too)

Apolloanddaphne · 15/11/2019 08:46

I love Love Actually. It is my pre Christmas favourite. That and the Grinch of course!

IsabelleSE19 · 15/11/2019 08:52

Agree with blackmould on all counts. Paint by numbers, 'will this do', cynical Chrimbo romcom bollocks.

It's bloody awful, not watchable in the same way that Four Weddings or Notting Hill was. You don't get enough time with any of the storylines to really care, and they're just not believable. Except the Emma Thompson one, I suppose. And I do like Hugh Grant.

Gives me the rage and makes me feel decidedly unfestive. Give me Die Hard any day.

shinynewapple · 15/11/2019 09:37

So @Magnificentme did you love it or hate it??

Magnificentme · 15/11/2019 10:13

I definitely loved it so glad I watched it 👍

👏👏👏

blackmould · 15/11/2019 13:06

jelly it doesn't say that though, does it

Elbeagle · 15/11/2019 13:09

Liam Neeson is bummed out because his wife just died. This storyline is uncomfortable because just six years after he filmed these scenes Liam Neeson’s real-life wife actually tragically died. I kind of feel like having to watch Liam Neeson goof his way through this vacant, sentimental pap is insulting to the memory of Natasha Richardson. I also kind of feel like Love Actually did that on purpose, somehow, using time travel and/or necromancy. I’m against it

Oh come on. The article completely lost me here.

madcatladyforever · 15/11/2019 13:09

Dreadful garbage.....don't forget the popcorn Grin

Justkeeprollingalong · 15/11/2019 13:11

Great easy watching film with so many funny moments.

merryhouse · 15/11/2019 13:23

It's terrible, but I genuinely let out a little squee when Thomas Sangster appeared on screen. And I love Alan.

BarbedBloom · 15/11/2019 14:37

I hate it, especially the treatment of the female characters.

Gallivespian · 16/11/2019 00:31

@Disfordarkchocolate, Love Actually makes Paddington 2 look like Citizen Kane. Grin

Floralnomad · 16/11/2019 00:37

It’s light entertainment with a decent enough sound track .

Gallivespian · 16/11/2019 00:43

I believe it’s possible to make light entertainment without shoe-horning in quite so much casual misogyny.
