I’m devastated, can’t stop crying, just want her to be her usual happy self, but she can’t. I miss her so much already.

I do so feel for you, OP - it's so awful. Sending heartfelt sympathy.

Will never forget they day our last dog was PTS - it was the first anniversary of 9/11, the news was full of nothing else, and all I could think, was that the vet was coming at 3 pm.
But it was the only way, and TBH we'd left it too long for our beloved poor old dog already, because the decision was so very hard to make.
Our cat had also been PTS 6 weeks previously - we'd had both for over 14 years.
A truly horrible time.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 10/11/2019 12:21

So sad - I don't even know you or her, but keep crying for you!

When the time comes to decide about her ashes , maybe scatter some on her favourite walk , some in the garden and some to keep in an urn at home .

Then she can be in all the places she loved , all at the same time Sad

So sorry OP we recently went through this with our girl and the house was unbearably quiet and empty . Something which helped me was to write down all my immediate memories of her in a notebook. Thinking of you as it’s so hard

I lost my little mate 18 months ago and it still hurts 😢.
I was dreading taking him to the vets but in the end he just took himself to his bed and passed peacefully in his sleep.
He was a month shy of being 15 years old.
Give yourself time hun and remember all the good times x

I’m devastated. Been at work today, I thought I’d try to keep busy. I keep seeing her out of the corner of my eye at home. I’m so sad

I found it hardest when I came in from work / shops etc . Having no dog to greet made me so sad.

Even now years later I still sometimes half expect him to be on the other side of the front door when I open it.

It will take you a long time to get use to not having your lovely pup around , but it does get easier as time goes on.

YourDaughter · 11/11/2019 21:36

I miss how she was always just there. Just lying on her cushion on the sofa, or curled up behind whilst I worked, or at my feet as I read the children’s bedtime book. How she waited at the top of the stairs when I went toilet, or her snoring at the end of the bed at night.
I just want her to be where she should.

I would would do anything to have my 6 stone lump of a dog jump on my bed 1st thing in the morning again even though I often cursed him for doing it at the time .

Its when they are not where you expect them to be that is so hard to get use to.
