I’m devastated, can’t stop crying, just want her to be her usual happy self, but she can’t. I miss her so much already.

@yourDaughter@ -Just another post to let you know that I am thinking about you and your little dog. You will get through tomorrow although it will be so hard.

YourDaughter · 09/11/2019 18:27

Thank you @milktray. Honestly this thread has helped so much today. Knowing other people are hearing about my girl and just being able to get my feelings down has made a difference

Its ever so sad. We had to put our dog to sleep 3 yrs ago. His balance had gone, blind in one eye and his kidneys failed. He was PTS on his 18th birthday.

QueenOfOversharing · 09/11/2019 18:42

@YourDaughter awwwwwwe what a gorgeous mix. Staffies are the lickiest dogs ever - my girl jumps on me & pins me down to lick me. They're such happy dogs too, it must be heartbreaking to see her so unwell. Just being there with all the love you have for her is what she needs. I'm crying again for you both. Sad

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 09/11/2019 18:45

Your dog is beautiful OP, I hope you can take some comfort in the safe and happy life you gave her and now you are having to do the most painful thing for you, but the kindest thing for her, the ultimate in your love for her Flowers

MrsMozartMkII · 09/11/2019 18:45

I'm so very sorry.

Many hugs and a handhold.

Roselilly36 · 09/11/2019 18:45

So sorry OP Flowers

I have been through it too, it is just heartbreaking. But you are doing the kindest thing for your dog.

Take it easy over the next few days, and be prepared for waves of emotion.

The routine is also something I missed, sounds odd, but you get so used to feeding/walking at the same times of day, it takes some getting used too, so be kind to yourself going to be a tough few days.

Adayatatime · 09/11/2019 18:46

Beautiful beautiful dog. Will be thinking of you OP.. So so sorry

FrivolousPancake · 09/11/2019 18:49

Oh OP I’m so so sorry.

What a beautiful girl Flowers

YourDaughter · 09/11/2019 18:51

I’m sorry @QueenOfOversharing, I didn’t mean to make you cry.

I’m panicking about coping with how much it will hurt when she is gone. I’m truly not sure how I’ll do it, I know I have too, I have a children and a husband. I just don’t want to. I want to hide away from the world, I don’t want to be in it if my girl isn’t. (I’m not usually so dramatic and ridiculous, I’m just so anxious)

I saw this on Instagram earlier, a comedian I love has had to say goodbye to his dog today.
It really choked me up as I remember losing my first dog, being only 19 my friends really didn’t get it at all.

I bet you’ve given her the most amazing life she could have wanted.

OP 😭

Thinking of you. We had our darling girl PTS three weeks ago due to a very quick progressive random illness. Only 10. Devastated but the decision had to be made and it was the right one to make.

Hold on to all the good memories OP. Xxxxx

looondonn · 09/11/2019 19:04

Ah my gosh
Angel !!!
What a sweetie pie and how lucky to have such a wonderful home
Will be thinking of you all xxxxxxx

I had my staffie girl PTS 2 weeks ago and it is heart breaking. She was my shadow for 14 years. I haven’t been able to put away her bed yet.

Allow the tears to fall. She is your best friend and it hurts. You are doing the right thing for her OP just remember that. You hurt so she doesn’t have to x

Ilikesweetpeas · 09/11/2019 19:30

Ahh she is so beautiful. Wishing you strength for tomorrow. We had our lovely dog put to sleep in July and we miss her so much. It's very hard but you are being brave to make the right decision for her Thanks

SamBeckett · 09/11/2019 19:42

This must be so hard for you OP.
I ad to have my lab x put down almost 3 years ago he was 18 it broke my heart.

As PP said it us very quick literally seconds after the needle has gone in they are asleep and very soon after passed away.

This my sound horrid now but just to make you aware she may lose control of her bladder and bowels.
I have had 1 other dog and two cars pts before and it had never happened so it was a shock and upsetting when my last dog did.

YourDaughter · 09/11/2019 19:49

Thank you @FrivolousPancake, both for your lovely words and the article. She’s definitely not just a dog.

Thank you all for your words of strength and experience. They are all welcome.

Thank you also for telling me how gorgeous she is, I think she is just perfect (even though she has bin breath!)

I'm so sorry you're going through this.
We lost our beautiful rescue cat a year ago and I still miss him.
We had him cremated and mixed his ashes with a big garden plant in a beautiful pot that's in our garden. It's nice to see it growing and our daughter calls it 'Basil's plant'.
We also took paw prints with the date and have a few pictures of him around the house. Things like this help.
Stay strong xx

DrEllie · 09/11/2019 19:54

Sending you my love. Such a difficult thing you are having to do 💕

MrsIronfoundersson · 09/11/2019 19:56

Best wishes OP, it's very very hard but you have to go for the best option for her after a happy life with you FlowersFlowers

YourDaughter · 09/11/2019 19:57

I’ve been trying to get her paw print today, but she’s not keen. I’m thinking of doing it tomorrow once vet has sedated her? Do you think that will work? I have an ink less pad.

The vet is coming at 11am. I’m dreading it, dreading my last night with her. But so glad she gets to die in her own bed at home. We’re having her cremated and have asked for her ashes back. Part of me wants to spread them on her favourite walking fields, but every time I think of it I imagine her being eternally stuck out in the cold, alone and unable to get home. I’m being very silly aren’t I?

The pain you feel now is so that she doesn't have to Flowers

Ilikesweetpeas · 09/11/2019 19:59

It's lovely that the vet is coming to your house. That's what we did too, much less stressful for the dog.
