HELP me find this song!! 2000-2007 Terry Wogan R2

This is not going to be easy! Grin I'm showing my age and will probably come across as a bit weird but here goes....

I used to listen to Terry Wogan on R2 on my way to work and he played this song almost every day for quite a while... Could have been any time 2000-2007 Grin I've not heard it since but I loved it!

I have NO idea who sang it ... I don't know what it's called and I don't know any lines...

I'm not religious at all but It's got a 'Christian' message .all about God loving us etc. and how wonderful life is..it was quite repetitive at times.

It was by someone well known and I remember thinking at the time that the person had been part of a group at one point. Even as far back as the '70s
They had other songs with a religious message too but not all of them did...

I thought it was Van Morrison, Aaron Neville, James Taylor but I don't know...

That's all I've got!

I don't stand a chance finding it do I?!

Have you had a good look on these lists? A few contenders!

When I first read the OP, I thought Fragile by Sting. Just a couple of decades out 🤣

Acquitaine · 10/11/2019 08:00

Thatsmeinthespotlight is yours Streets Of London by Ralph McTell? It's been covered by a lot of people too.

Catquest1 · 10/11/2019 08:09

Was it Wisemen by James Blunt?

TW played this ever so a lot (be around 2004/05) and thats where i first heard it.

ShinyGiratina · 10/11/2019 08:23

He did play Keeping the Dream Alive by Freiheit a lot. I'm getting the urge to play and sing it now, but it would be a rude awakening for the rest of the household at this time Grin

I also thought Pretty Amazing Grace, but I think it was about 2008, so he wouldn't have had much time left to play it.

I loved Terry in the mornings. I still miss that show and can barely listen to the current breakfast show.

A Ken Bruce playlist would be great, but he likes his long songs so you wouldn't fit many on Wink

Spaghettio · 10/11/2019 08:23

My late husband always loved when Terry played "Arms of Mary" by the Sutherland Brothers. It's sounds like it could be religious.....

Elodie2019 · 10/11/2019 08:28

SoundsG00d
Any chance it could be Pretty Amazing Grace by Neil Diamond ?

OH MY GOD!!!

I can't believe you've done it!
This has made me cry!
See, I'm not mad!!! Older singer, 2007 (it was released in 2008 so I was one out) famous, spiritual....

As soon as I saw Neil Diamond 'Pretty Amazing Grace posted I knew it'd be that. Except, you said it was pretty upbeat 😁

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 10/11/2019 11:51

I love Neil Diamond, such a shame he retired due to parkinsons.

soundsg00d · 10/11/2019 12:05

Hurray! Pleased to be of assistance ! I love that song too and remember it being played a lot on Radio 2. I bought the live in NYC Neil Diamond album off the back of it and listened to it a lotSmile
