Is it me, or does anyone else have an abundance of people in their lives who INSIST on mentioning the fact that either they run or that they are a vegan Every. Time. I. See. You??????!!!!!!!

It's not that I'm against said running or veganism, but do you really have to talk about it ALL THE FLIPPPIN TIME????

There. I've said it. And breathe.......

I’m a vegan and a runner.... but I don’t talk about it honestly.

My only colleagues who know I’m vegan are ones who I’ve been out for food with and had to explain
I run to and from work but do not talk about running other than if someone asks what I’m doing That evening I’ll mention I’ll go for a run. I don’t talk about races/pace etc etc and never post about running or veganism on social media!!!

Sunflower20 · 07/11/2019 21:05

Oh my god yes. Parkrun chat gives me the rage.

FleurNancy · 07/11/2019 21:05

I saw a couple of vegan runner vests around my town recently. I might get one saying "lazy fat carnivore"

DH became vegan at the start of the year... then he took up running. He has one of those Vegan Runners tops. I wonder if you know him.

wheresmyhairytoe · 07/11/2019 21:13

People doing Slimming World bore the shit out of me.

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 07/11/2019 21:14

I'm a vegetarian jogger, but prefer not to talk about either.Grin

Actually, I actively avoid mentioning I'm vegetarian, because people then don't stop going on about it, "...oh should we eat there? I don't know if there's anything for thewheels to eat..." I've never had any problem even at steak or fish restaurants.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 07/11/2019 21:20

I saw something the other day about vegans that a lot go cold turkey as they see something that changes their mind and see it as a massive revelation that made them change so they share loads of stuff and talk about it a lot thinking itll change other peoples minds, then they find most people dont give a fuck

RachelEllenR · 07/11/2019 21:23

I love running chat but then I run a lot. I try to choose my audience though when talking about it. Facebook through people can just scroll on last if they're not interested!

hazeyjane · 07/11/2019 21:37

I'm a vegetarian tv wanker.

I can show you my copy of the Radio Times which have my weeks tv watching circled. I could talk about shit TV shows for hours and wax lyrical about the various health benefits of the cheesy Findus crispy pancake.

underneaththeash · 07/11/2019 22:12

running is okay.....

veganism is not

YOU CANNOT GET ALL YOUR ESSENTIAL VITAMINS/MINERALS AND AMINO ACIDS FROM A VEGAN DIET THEREFORE IT IS NOT BLOODY HEALTHY.

ilovetofu · 07/11/2019 22:21

@BarbourellaTheCoatzilla um no. Obviously I'm perfect & never irritate anyone 🤷‍♀️

@FATEdestiny jog on! 😴

ilovetofu · 07/11/2019 22:24

@aliensprig if I ask someone whether they are vegan or not then obviously I would understand. It's people I know who are vegan who mention it every time I see them that I find tedious. I know. I don't care.

Oh god I agree with whoever said yoga!! I have a friend who is training to be a yoga instructor. Fuck me that is boring chat.

DonkeyHotty · 07/11/2019 22:26

I agree but then I’m no longer on social media so I don’t have to see all this twattishness on a regular basis.

I’m deeply disinterested in other people’s exercise and eating habits.

DonkeyHotty · 07/11/2019 22:26

Oh yy to yoga 😴

FrangipaniBlue · 07/11/2019 22:28

At least one running group and one Tri group that I'm in on Facebook both have people constantly banging on about how they've "gone plant based" after watching the documentary Game Changers.

I think you'd implode OP WinkGrin

ilovetofu · 07/11/2019 22:28

@underneaththeash I don't see a problem with people running OR being vegan. Its their choice. It's the talking about it every time I see them that irritates me. That's all.

But I feel better about it now that I know others feel the same. Thanks all Smile

I work with a vegan ultra marathon runner. Lunch in the staff room is a proper hoot! I honestly hardly ever had meat for lunch and confess it is now quite a regular occurrence...Blush

aurynne · 07/11/2019 23:09

Perhaps the vegan runners are fleeing from hungry carnivores?

exexpat · 07/11/2019 23:15

My neighbour is a vegan runner (has the t-shirt etc) but doesn't go on about it. He's been vegan for decades, which is probably a factor - it is always the recent converts who are most boring vocal about it. The local vegan running group do seem to eat a lot of cake, which sounds pretty good to me.

I do unfollow anyone on social media who has one of those apps that auto-post running or cycling stats, but I don't mind the friends who post interesting pics of places they have been running.

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 07/11/2019 23:17

Im a runner and rarely post about it. I did a marathon few weeks ago and I did post it on my Facebook and im proud of myself for doing it.

But it does grate on me that many of my Facebook friends post all the time. There was a thing on it “10 days of running... post a pic “ or something and a girl I know posted a pic of herself for 10 day. She’s only been running for 6 months and it fucking bored me.

I dont know a vegan -but to be honest that would bore be and make me hungry

For shits n giggles, here a youtuber responding to the above mentioned vegan cyclist

Breathlessness · 07/11/2019 23:34

Convince them to run the London marathon dressed as a jackfruit to ‘raise awareness’.
