Staying at a place for the second time.
I ta advertised as a family home (dad and grown up children) who I met last time

Last nite I arrived late and thought it strange that there was very loud snoring in the room next door.
Thought maybe it was the dad

Anyway fast forward to tonight and I'm in the kitchen and a completely unknown Male has let himself in and gone upstairs

I don't know what to do, there are no bedroom door locks and was not advertised as 2 rooms to rent

WWYD?

The lock is interesting, but do you know if I’m traveling alone I always stay in shared digs. I think it’s much safer than a flat that could be in a rough area and all alone.

One Airbnb I stay at always has other guests and I’ve never felt unsafe. Still I would get one of these locks for next time

Is it Danny DeVito? 🤣🤣🤣

This post is fucking hilarious.

Always take a door wedge with you when you travel so you can put it under the door at night. I wouldn't be without one staying in rooms with possibly no lock.

Preparingfor · 08/11/2019 08:05

I'm not sure Danny de Vito would need to stay in shared accommodation! 😆

Could be researching a new role in a film? Crazy landlord/tenant killer?

furrytoebean · 08/11/2019 08:30

I do t understand why people are being so rude to you OP
I would message the host and ask who the man is.

Reallybadidea · 08/11/2019 08:37

I hope you're OK and managed to sleep. I get where you're coming from: you though that you were the only guest in a family home which had good reviews from previous visitors which is reassuring. Turns out there is another man there that you weren't expecting and you don't know anything about. I don't see why other posters find it difficult to understand why you might feel unsafe in that situation. You wouldn't invite an unknown man into your home so it's perfectly understandable, to me at least, why not having a lock on your door would be a concern. But yes, in future ask in advance whether other rooms are rented out and whether there's a lock on the door.

It's an Air B&B, you get what you pay for. If it's not an entire house, then there will be other people living/sleeping there that you won't know - the hosts, potentially their family and friends, other guests. That's why it's cheap.

If I'm with my kids I always go for the ones where we have the entire place to ourselves - it's more expensive but it means you know no one else will be in the property while you're there.
