What do you eat and drink when you’re ill?

I’m suffering badly at the moment from a virus, I feel awful Sad

I know it’s so important to keep eating and drinking but I can’t think of anything that is at all appetising. I’m struggling to even keep up my fluid intake as I just don’t fancy anything.

What do you opt for when you’re feeling ill? Hoping I can be tempted by one of your ideas Smile

Another vote for Heinz tomato soup

Hot chocolate. I usually go for milky sweet puddings, semolina, rice pudding or cereal. Hope you feel better soon.

It has to be the original Heinz tomato soup .
I’m old enough to remember the original Lucozade which was wrapped in a type of cellophane 1” wide strip and came in a large bottle . You knew your Mum thought you were really ill when you got that .
I smile when I see the new “sexy “ Lucozade drink on advertising hoardings- a real achievement for sales !

Chucky eggs - boiled eggs mashed up with butter and salt in a mug

Eggs settle poorly tummies but also packed full of nutrition including iron and protein which you need especially when you’re ill.

Soup - homemade if possibly but if not yes cream of tomato tinned

Instant mash made up with grated cheese and marmite added and mixed in and eaten straight from whatever I made it in.

Hot squash

Hot toddy - honey, lemon, ginger, splash of rum (medicinal don’cha know) make up with hot water but leave room for a bit of cold water so it’s not too hot.

Lucozade I can’t bear now, too closely associated with an especially bad stomach upset so even the smell makes me feel nauseous now.

Water or hot lemon and honey to drink and Heinz tinned Big Soup with dry toast fingers.

That's what I'm having this week.

Once I pick up a bit it'll be cottage pie.

Ready salted popchips. Easier to eat that dry toast, satisfying crunch.

Hot buttered toast and scrambled eggs

Chocolate / cake

Lots of herbal teas

Crumpets with butter and honey

Heinz tomato soup and white bread toast and plain Hula Hoops for a bit of salt.
