Is there already a thread about the instamum dramas involving MoD today?

It's incredibly snide & hypocritical particularly when your brand is built on authenticity.

I agree, but I also think it's pretty cynical to use someone to promote your wares when you know they have been slating you behind your back. They are all as bad as each other.

legoiseverywhere · 11/11/2019 08:16

I finally worked out how to search on Tattle & can see MODs post, gosh she has a high opinion of herself. Its all so embarrassing!

"Mod posts about a subject, her minions follow. Coincidence? It seems desperate and have they not got anything else to discuss?"

"Like a chav’s version of the Hoopers"

"At least someone is speaking up about the consumerism side of Instagram/Christmas - so many Instamums are add after add of cheap tat this month, it’s shoved down our throat. Mrs Meldrum can’t post without another haul, today it’s was more crap from Next."

legoiseverywhere · 11/11/2019 08:17

They are all as bad as each other.

True dat!

I wonder how this MOD shitshow will pan out? I reckon she'll be back on the gram very shortly and all will be back to normal. Move on, nothing to see here!

Skyejuly · 11/11/2019 08:26

Terrible role model.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 11/11/2019 08:30

Hardly role models - just giant online advertising personalities, selling their childrens privacy for 4k sinks.

legoiseverywhere · 11/11/2019 08:51

just giant online advertising personalities

Which is fine but just own it. It's not just for fun, it's not organic, it's not confusing or unnecessary to put #ad on a post, it's not press, etc. It's mainly motivated by £££££ so just own it!

kittlesticks · 11/11/2019 08:52

I really think this situation would be a great example of public shaming from the book 'so you've been publicly shamed' by Jon Ronson. It's a great book for anyone interested!

myolivetree · 11/11/2019 08:55

Who is DLAM ?

legoiseverywhere · 11/11/2019 09:03

@kittlesticks yep epic public shame & whilst I worry about peoples mental health re a pile on I do understand that shame can be deserved. It's a conundrum.

Why on earth did she do it? She clearly thinks she's a celeb & surely knew it would cause a scandal so why do it. Or at least cover your tracks better.

RexDangerVest · 11/11/2019 09:07

Thanks for the recommendation @kittlesticks I'm going to read it!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 11/11/2019 09:10

Thanks Kittlesticks!

RexDangerVest · 11/11/2019 09:16

It is scary isn't it. I mean I am in disbelief that someone could get to her level and not be more savvy and realise how easily it can all go wrong... did she really think she wouldn't get caught out? but it must be horrible to be in this situation especially with children and makes me grateful for my quiet anonymous life!

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 11/11/2019 09:21

I was thinking about that book kittlesticks; whilst I accept what mod did was wrong and there are pertinent questions to be asked about someone who holds a role of responsibility making comments about race in that way, the ongoing public condemnation isn’t helpful. Having said that, they could both remove all social media accounts.

AgathaMystery · 11/11/2019 09:26

I agree re: so you've been public ally shamed - such a good book. Fascinating and horrifying.

God I feel for everyone. Those poor women she trolled. Absolutely awful. I'm struggling to see how she can keep her job - she's breached The Code - promoting professionalism & trust off the top of my head. In fact all of section 20.

What a waste of resource. It's about it £80-90k to train a midwife.

legoiseverywhere · 11/11/2019 09:31

they could both remove all social media accounts.

This would be the most sensible. The trouble with putting yourself on a platform & creating a certain image is that you have to pretty much embody that. She doesn't seem like a particularly nice person & quite immature which again is fine, women don't have to be nice or kind by default. However don't base your brand on being kind, the sisterhood etc. That's the image advertisers & her followers are buying into unfortunately.

Thescrewinthetuna · 11/11/2019 09:43

If it wasn’t for MODs comments regarding CB I think she would have been fine to apologise, lie low for a bit and come back. The racist element of what MOD said about CB means that this is worse than her just being a bit stupid and bitchy.

For all the hate Tattle gets I do think the people posting there do bring up really important issues regarding influencers and the regulations surrounding their ‘job’, their exploitation of their children etc. MOD was figured out on there quite quickly from what I can see.

hollyangel · 11/11/2019 10:03

The Jon Ronson book 'So you've been publicly shamed' deals mainly with people who committed ONE silly mistake. One stupid tweet, one bad photo gone viral etc.

The fact that MOD's whole brand is about being a midwife, the sisterhood , the importance of mum tribes reflects why her comments are so damning. It wasn't just one mistake, it appears to be multiple bitchy and in one case racist comments about other women just trying to work in the same world she was.

If any one of us wrote those comments, it wouldn't matter. But we can't forget that herself and FOD have made hundreds of thousands of pounds out of this world. Her Insta followers are her employers. She shouldn't be able to just skip past this without sincerely trying to make amends.

She always reminds me of that mean girl at school, making fun of other people who weren't as cool as her. Bullies shouldn't be rewarded for their behaviour.

Stfrancesof · 11/11/2019 10:34

Unfortunately the fact is she is probably reading this and perhaps even commenting on this thread. Clemmie if you are reading this you should put your phone down, take a break and focus on your kids and husband. I think it's a lesson for everyone to remember that everything you write on the internet can come back and bite you pretty badly, so be nice and be honest.

kittlesticks · 11/11/2019 11:09

Yup, wasn't really suggesting the book as a perfect way to describe the circumstances here but just as a good read if you're interested in the culture of public shaming on the internet.
Agree this seems to have been a pattern of behaviour.
It's all very odd. I haven't read the whole thread, but I do think the whole influencer culture needs to be examined.

Samosaurus · 11/11/2019 11:16

If FOD really didn't know about this, I don't know how their marriage could go back to being how it was before. Finding out that your wife has some dubious racist views that she has publicly aired, and also damaged your joint lucrative brand by engaging in spiteful and completely unnecessary online behaviour must be a hard pill to swallow. Not to mention the embarrassment for the older children. Very sad state of affairs for the Hooper family, and what was it all for?

jamoncrumpets · 11/11/2019 11:28

I think a book will come out of this

SiousieSoo · 11/11/2019 11:37

I too think that the most pertinent question is how she was outed. Did she disclose the fact that she was posting from St Lucia under the guise of Alice in Wanderlust or did the Tattle website out her? I am not defending any of her comments but I dont understand how this happened? Surely the collection of your IP address to determine your location should be private? Isn't this part and parcel of an anonymous forum unless you choose to reveal your identity? Does any one know for sure how it happened? There are so many threads on Tattle its difficult to find this out.

Wemake · 11/11/2019 11:49

Can anyone tell me what MOD’s racist moments are? I know she said that CB uses the race card to stop discussion. Surely that’s just white ignorance, not all out racism?

Genuinely interested in your options.

Wemake · 11/11/2019 11:50

Comments, not moments!
