Women in the public eye who do what they do *well*

There's many a thread popping up on MN basically just bashing women.

"Adele got thin, now she will be shit"
"Doesn't Tess Daly just have the kind if face you want to punch?"
Etc.

So I want us to talk about women in the public eye who do a fucking good job at whatever it is they are known for.

Olivia Colman Amazing actress, seems kind and happy. Picks great roles and plays them well. Doesn't court media attention.

Dawn O Porter writes great books about women who feel real. Situations that are normal and true and sometimes raw. Instagram stories the mad moments and doesn't do stuff for show.

Oh yes - checked a few of the previous ones. Would like to echo Angela Merkel and Nicola Sturgeon.

plomino good call with Cressida Dick.
I recall the TV drama Bodyguard being criticised on here (and other places) for having too many women in positions of power in the police and government. It was idealistic, too right on, not realistic etc. apparently.
Then someone posted a pic of three women sitting in a meeting, with name/ position plates: Theresa May - Prime Minister, Amber Rudd - Home Secretary, Cressida Dick - Commissioner of Police. Shut the twats up.

Love this thread
I too found myself defending May as having the clit to try to resolve a mess created by blokes having a pissing contest...
I want to add Dany Cotton. London Fire Brigade .she's being made a scapegoat but she has been humble and sincere in her apologies and in trying to have her organisation learn from their failures while the councillors and builders etc haven't been brought to task...

The late great Mo Mowlam. She was the best Secretary of State NI ever had. She kicked the DUP et al into touch and had to deal with the sexism and misogyny that was ingrained in ALL the NI political parties at the time. She was one of the very rare English politicians that actually tried to understand NI and didn’t behave like a patronising wanker.

I’ve actually shed a little tear for her.

Regardless of abuse from previous threads, Adele does what she does incredibly well and so deserves to be on this thread too.

For some reason a lot of American female comedy actors/ writers spring to mind:

Tina Fey
Amy Poehler
Natasha Lyonne
Maya Rudolph

They all seem to have mastered the fine art of being themselves and creating the art they would themselves actually want to go and see - all whilst giving as few shits as possible.

I also have to give Phoebe Waller Bridge and Olivia Colman their dues for the same reason - they're the Brit equivalents in many ways.

Jo Brand too. The funniest woman ever. Bar none.
