How much weight loss to go down a size?

I have ordered a dress for my works do but they only had it in a 10. I wear a 12 at the moment, I can get in my 10s and do them up but they definitely don't fit.

I have 4 weeks to get in it, is it doable??

Its not arrived yet so I will know better when it comes but generally speaking how much weight do you need to lose to be in the next size.

I have lost 1st 3.5 so far which took me from bursting out of a 12 to being able to do up a 10 but I didn't notice when the shift was 🙈🙈

They generally say lose around 10lb to lose a dress size. Mines always been a little more than 10lb though.

AnnaNimmity · 04/11/2019 17:36

i'm half a stone per dress size I think.

Hefzi · 04/11/2019 17:40

I'm around 20lbs per size - I think it's quite personal and how you carry your weight, OP - do they not have it in a 12?

fatulousatforty · 04/11/2019 17:40

At least a stone for me

CatalogueUniverse · 04/11/2019 17:41

Depends on your height I think.
Taller = more to speed the weight over.

Fuckenstein · 04/11/2019 17:43

Nope they only had an 8 or a 10 so I just bought it on impulse.

I am 5ft 2 and carry weight on my stomach and chest.

Spanxs might save me and I might just be able to scrape it, it's only really half a size to lose.

I've lst 3.5 stone (49 lbs) in the last year. I've gone from a size 24 to a size 18, so that's a fraction over 16 lbs per size dropped.

billandbenflowerpotmen1 · 04/11/2019 17:52

I'm 1 stone per dress size

raspberryk · 04/11/2019 17:53

It really depends on what clothes, how tall you are and where you carry your weight. I tend to need to lose about a stone and a half to drop a dress size but up to a point I can lose more and never get in any smaller clothes due to bone structure.

Fuckenstein · 04/11/2019 17:56

I am thinking I have made a mistake now. Better get looking for a back up!

Bout a stone for me. But I have clothes of all different sizes that I consider ‘fit’ so it’s a bit vague, depends on the item. I’m 5”2, curvier but in proportion all over.

Fuckenstein · 04/11/2019 18:12

I think I need to be patient and see how close it is when it comes.

Bluntness100 · 04/11/2019 18:15

I'd also say a stone, but if it's only half a dress size, then that's half a stone and easily done in a month.

Fuckenstein · 04/11/2019 18:18

Good point, half a stone is easy right? Hmm I will try it on when it arrives and go from there.

I can fasten all my other 10s but wouldn't be able to wear them out.

Almost a stone for me. I think your height will have relevance - I am 5 foot 1.

FuzzyPuffling · 04/11/2019 18:21

I lost 2.5 stone and went down one dress size (16-14)

Bluntness100 · 04/11/2019 18:22

Quite shocked at the people who need to lose two stone to go down a dress size 😱

CottonSock · 04/11/2019 18:24

I'm 5foot 1 and it's not much for me. About half stone.

AlexandraPeppernose · 04/11/2019 18:41

Two stone for me

FlibbertyGiblets · 04/11/2019 18:53

Yeah about 20lb per dress size. Fat shortie weeble. Sigh.

raspberryk · 04/11/2019 18:56

@Bluntness100 i imagine it's their height? Half a stone on someone 5ft can make a difference but completely unnoticeable on someone my height- 5ft8

bumblingbovine49 · 04/11/2019 21:15

I.am 5ft 8 and have recently lost almost 2 stone. I have dropped one size. My weight is very evenly distributed so I have to gain at least a stone before my waistband feels any tighter at all.

Bluntness100 · 04/11/2019 21:38

Raspberry maybe, but I'm five eight, and I loose about 10-12 pounds and I go down a dress size, two stone and I'd be two dress sizes. I can't imagine being able to put on nearly two stone and still fit in my clothes. It just seems an awful lot.

LemonPrism · 04/11/2019 21:45

Half a stone for me - 5'4

Pinkbonbon · 04/11/2019 21:50

I'm 5'1 and carry my weight on my stomach and chest. Lost 15lbs and only went down one dress size. Maybe at about 10lbs would have been enough though.
