How much weight loss to go down a size?

Fuckenstein · 04/11/2019 17:33

I have ordered a dress for my works do but they only had it in a 10. I wear a 12 at the moment, I can get in my 10s and do them up but they definitely don't fit.

I have 4 weeks to get in it, is it doable??

Its not arrived yet so I will know better when it comes but generally speaking how much weight do you need to lose to be in the next size.

I have lost 1st 3.5 so far which took me from bursting out of a 12 to being able to do up a 10 but I didn't notice when the shift was 🙈🙈

I’m 5”2 and lost 1st2 this year, my clothes were tight, now they’re loose, every1s different tho, some ppl at slimming club go down 2 sizes with a stone and half others need much more weight loss for visible results. You could try detox to get rid of some stomach bloating?

Bluntness100 · 04/11/2019 22:00

others need much more weight loss for visible results

Which conversely means they can gain a lot of weight without it being visible.

I wonder if something is to do with clothes styles, ie if you're wearing loose clothing, or leggings etc, lots of Jersey, soft fabrics, then yes you could easily gain two stone and not need to go up a dress size. But you're wearing tight fitting skinny jeans, or fitted structured clothing, then it would be less likely. 🤷‍♀️

Jaffacakebeast · 04/11/2019 22:12

It would have something todo with it, but honestly some ppl put 1 stone on or off and it’s so equally spread over the entire body u can’t tell, if I put a stone on its straight on the face and belly, look pregnant 👀

sallyisstarstruck · 04/11/2019 22:14

I've lost 19lbs in the last 6 months and have gone from my size 14 clothes being tight to fitting in size 12. I'm 5ft 10.

AppleKatie · 04/11/2019 22:21

It’s clothes sizes as well. I’m convinced that there’s a bigger difference between a 20-22 then there is between a 10-12.

It’s only half a small size OP with concerted effort you can do that in 4 weeks I’d say.

GreyTS · 04/11/2019 22:21

About 3 kgs brings me down a dress size, 5'4"

mustangsly · 04/11/2019 22:28

Between 10lbs and a stone for me.

But I, very attractively, carry my weight like a fucking truck tyre around my middle. It comes off there first and the rest of me takes a while to catch up.

Fuckenstein · 04/11/2019 22:55

Well you have given me hope. Its amazing how much difference there is.

I think you are onto something there @Bluntness100 with the clothing type.

I would need to lose a good stone to go down a size. I'm 9st10 and a size 10-12. I've been an 8 in the past and was about 8.5 stone then (I'm 5'7).

ClapHandsAndSaveTheFairies · 04/11/2019 23:05

1st per dress size for me.

Which works out sort of right if I consider roughly what I weigh now and what size I think i am, vs the weight I ought to be and size at that weight.

RedSoloCup · 04/11/2019 23:18

All clothes are different show us a picture?

HUZZAH212 · 05/11/2019 02:11

Definately depends on the fabric and cut of the dress too. Some dresses will not forgive even an extra few lbs. Also consider alcohol, food, water retention bloat. It may look very different at 9pm than trying it on at 9am. - something structured and fitted is a no go for me with alcohol, as 3 drinks in and my belly would be trying to burst out through a fitted dress 😳

Ruddywax · 05/11/2019 02:30

I personally 16lb per dress size

Whatdayisit2 · 05/11/2019 09:06

1stone 7 for me but I'm tall

Fuckenstein · 05/11/2019 12:49

The description says it is stretchy which is a bonus!

I would think that'll be very forgiving. Get a bigger belt if need be.

PearlsBeforeWine · 05/11/2019 14:22

Im a stone per size roughly. 5 ft 4.

wildhairdontcare · 05/11/2019 14:31

I am over a stone between sizes. I hope it becomes less as I lose weight!

gamerchick · 05/11/2019 14:33

Half a stone for me at 5ft 1. It's totally doable in 4 weeks if you crack on.

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2019 14:37

You'll be fine in that dress, it's got a lot of Lee way in it.

I'm the same as you, between a ten and a twelve normally, and right now probably a small twelve, and that's the sort of dress I'd likely order down a size as often they need to be closer fitting to look like a decent fit due to the stretch and the gathers.

Fuckenstein · 05/11/2019 16:47

It's been shipped so I guess we will know soon enough 😁

I’ve recently gone from a size 8 to a 10, I’ve gained 9 pounds and I’m 5,4. I think it depends where you carry your weight and where you lose it from first.
I’d say it’s doable if your very strict.

randomsabreuse · 05/11/2019 17:15

Depends where the problem is vs where I carry weight. I tend to drop weight off my tummy/ribs first and boobs last... and have many things in the will never fit because too big on waist while too small on thighs.

So at the moment I'm between jeans sizes - my size 14s need a belt and gape at the waist but 12s give dreadful muffin top - I only need to lose a lb or 2 (or move through my cycle) for the 12s to fit better then the 14s. Need to drop about 10kg to drop a size in tailored non- stretch tops though - and could be a 10 or a 16 depending on cut!

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 05/11/2019 17:28

I’d say a stone as well as a min for a whole dress size at that height.

heatingsoup · 05/11/2019 17:32

I'm an 8-10, I have to loose 2 stone to be a 6-8. I'm tall too so being 7 stone doesn't suit me.
