Kez200 · 04/11/2019 17:08

I am looking to buy a bottle of good gin (up to £35) for a gin drinking guy. Must be available in supermarkets or Amazon/online as I need to buy it for Friday latest.

Recommendations please!

I like Gin Mare. Went to a gin tasting and it was the favourite of most of the people attending.

Horsemad · 04/11/2019 17:50

Masons Yorkshire Dry Gin Tea Edition - it's delicious!

PurpleDaisies · 04/11/2019 17:51

The Botanist is my favourite.

Six O Clock is a recent happy discovery.

Silent Pool is lovely but may be more than £35. Adnams First Rate Yorkshire Gin Tea Edition and Caorunn are pretty good too. For something a bit different, Beerblefish Hopped Gin has just been released.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 04/11/2019 17:57

Missed out the comma between the Adnams and the Yorkshire Gin there...

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/11/2019 18:02

Chase GB Extra Dry would probably show you thouht about it!

It's local to me, made from potatoes, might have been on Countryfile yesterday!

Very nice, different and about £30

elephantoverthehill · 04/11/2019 18:02

Mermaid gin made on the IW is pretty good.

iklboo · 04/11/2019 18:07

I got Silent Pool for £33 on Amazon this week.

Whitley Neill (original & all flavours) are ice

King of Soho is lovely and a nice bottle design. Also Daffy's gin (available in Waitrose)

HelloCanYouHearMe · 04/11/2019 18:14

Hendricks Midsummer Solstice, if you can find it

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 04/11/2019 18:14

Another vote for Isle of Wight mermaid gin, the pink one is beautiful.

My other vote is Whitby gin, such a wonderful dry gin.

LadyLanka · 04/11/2019 18:20

I have just ordered some Edinburgh Christmas gin to try (I love the Seaside gin) and some Colombo 7, which is very, very tasty.

theendoftheendoftheend · 04/11/2019 18:21

silent pool or chase pink grapefruit

gelert5619 · 04/11/2019 18:23

Berry Brothers and Rudd in Mayfair do their own London Dry Gin which is exquisite.
£25.00 Can deliver.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 04/11/2019 18:26

Forest Gin is lovely but a bit over your budget. The one going in my glass tonight is Ophir.

acatcalledjohn · 04/11/2019 18:26

Silent Pool, Caorunn or Roku would be on my list of gift options.

Or a one off subscription to the craft gin club? If you are happy to stretch to £40 that is.

cheesenpickles · 04/11/2019 18:30

Another vote for Mermaid. Also Twisted Nose from Winchester Distillery. Beautiful bottles and taste amazing.

cheesenpickles · 04/11/2019 18:32

Ah. New Twisted Nose bottle hasn't been released yet. Still a damn good gin though.

And if you fancy some vodka go for Black Cow. It's made from milk!

PlausibleHoot · 04/11/2019 18:39

Slightly over your budget at around £38 but worth it IMO -- Oxley. It's distilled in an unusual way, in a vacuum or sub-zero or something. Anyway it's very smooth and slips down a treat. Gin

wonkylegs · 04/11/2019 18:47

Hoxton Gin - fab and slightly different, it's been a regular favourite when we've done tastings

Wizzbangpop · 04/11/2019 18:48

Tanquerry saville orange and a bottle of clementine fever tree tonic

Ophir is rather lovely

EstebanTheMagnificent · 04/11/2019 18:52

Do you know what he likes? Please avoid flavoured gins unless you know for sure he likes them. Many of them are awful and terribly sweet, which is unlikely to appeal to a gin drinker’s palate.

I second the recommendation up thread for Botanist as a good neutral choice.

Kez200 · 04/11/2019 20:12

I know he likes Portobello Road and Bathtub, I think.

AuntieMarys · 04/11/2019 20:13

Dyfi gin

Windyone · 04/11/2019 20:14

Yes to The Botanist and avoid flavoured guns!
