I’m thinking of getting dp’s daughter and partner a spa evening as a surprise . Dinks and nibbles on arrival, usual stuff of swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, saunas steam rooms, ice room and cold plunge pool. I’d also book the mud chamber. She will definitely love it and I think he’d enjoy it too. They’re mid 30’s. DP is in his 60’s and doesn’t think men like that type of stuff but when I’ve been for a day with a friend there have been couples there. Would your DP be happy to go?

Mine wouldn't go. I used to work in a spa and could get good discount so I tried many a time. Late 20s fireman if that makes any difference.

Expressedways · 29/10/2019 14:53

X posted with you - if they’ve been before to a spa and both liked it then don’t doubt yourself as it’s obviously a great gift for them! Meal instead of the mud sounds like a good shout too.

GetTheSprinkles · 29/10/2019 14:53

My DP is 30 and enjoys the gym/keeping fit. We've had quite a few massage & spa days together. I enjoy the spa more than him but he would definitely go with me. Sounds like a lovely gift to me!

YorkieTheRabbit · 29/10/2019 14:54

Having three kids means they don’t have loads of spare cash for treating themselves to something like that but as I said they did go to a hotel with one last year.

The blokes in my husband's force would love it! Haha

MapMyMum · 29/10/2019 15:00

No my dh would tell me to bring a friend

HironsBirons · 29/10/2019 15:03

My dh would enjoy it. He reluctantly came to a spa recently with me and he loved it

notacooldad · 29/10/2019 15:03

I often get a voucher for me and Dh to have a spa day from Groupon. We tend to pick the ones that dies s spa first followed by afternoon tea. We've also had a few gin afternoons as well. Dh is 57. He enjoys them and we have a giggle and a relaxing time!

otterturk · 29/10/2019 15:04

Just asked DP (30s) and he said yeah, perhaps not the mud-bath but the rest sounds nice.

Nottobesoldseparately · 29/10/2019 15:06

My DH wouldn't be keen, but would be very happy to escape with me. However once there would in all likelihood love it.

Ive been wanting to book a hot tub weekend and hes been pulling faces. I finally got him in one earlier this year at a friend's and he loved it. Wishes he'd let me book these deals now!

autumndreaming · 29/10/2019 15:07

Mine would completely adore it, he absolutely loves a spa

Choccyp1g · 29/10/2019 15:07

Who will look after the Dcs while they are there?

Shoxfordian · 29/10/2019 15:09

Swapping the mud for the restaurant would probably be good if you can. My dh would come with me, he likes a pool and a sauna

YorkieTheRabbit · 29/10/2019 15:09

We’d have the children 😊

Mine would never book this for himself but would happily come along with me if we'd been given it as a present. I think it's a lovely idea.

Itsallpetetong · 29/10/2019 15:18

Not something my DH would do.

happypotamus · 29/10/2019 15:45

No, but he won't go to swimming pools either because he has issues about his body and won't be topless anywhere.
I wouldn't really want to go to a spa either though.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 29/10/2019 15:50

My DH would enjoy it more than me ... he’s early 50s

SmileCheese · 29/10/2019 16:00

My DH would enjoy it more than me. We've been on a few and he loves being pampered with a massage or just swimming in the pool while I cosy up on a lounger with a book. I agree about changing the mud chamber to a meal but if you're offering to have the children when they want to use the voucher then I think no matter where you send them you're very much onto a winner.

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 29/10/2019 16:06

Mine would like the saunas etc but not treatments. I'd hate it though. I do know couples that have spa days together.

YorkieTheRabbit · 29/10/2019 16:08

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I’m going to book it and include a three course meal instead of being covered in mud Grin

willowstar · 29/10/2019 16:32

My 58 year old husband would love it. He was a top sportsman in his day though so 'gets' massage, ice baths etc...

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 29/10/2019 16:34

I think the meal is a much better idea than the mud, even I might be persuaded if no treatments were involved although I'd probably just read a book while DH did all the sauna stuff.

BarbourellaTheCoatzilla · 29/10/2019 16:39

If you know they have been to a spa before (and enjoyed it) then it would be fine. Myself and my DP would see it as hell!

3 course meal definitely sounds better than the mud bath though.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 29/10/2019 16:42

My bil enjoys them
