Haven’t been there in about 15 years and Feeling very disappointed after having a £14.99 Pizza Hut buffet yesterday. The pizza was so disappointing and the only good bit was the ice cream. Never going back! That’s £30 wasted for me and DH. Does anyone actually like it there?

I haven't been in our local Pizza Hut for over 20 years. I walk past it quite often and I don't think it's changed at all since then. Plenty of better options.

NabooThatsWho · 28/10/2019 06:30

I love the buffet! But I only go at lunchtime during the week so it’s cheaper.
Hate whippy ice cream though.

Fairylea · 28/10/2019 06:32

We love it! But we just love pizza - anything from pizza express to Pizza Hut to oven pizza. I love the Pizza Hut garlic bread with mozzarella and their stuffed crust pizza. Way too much cheese but SO nice Grin

TwiddleMuff · 28/10/2019 06:34

It’s disgusting, so stodgy and greasy.

SuperMeerkat · 28/10/2019 06:40

Genuinely disappointed. We only went because I messed up the time booking the carvery (blooming car hadn’t updated so I booked the carvery for 90 minutes time!) Never going again.

I loathe it. Ds1 is beginning to be of the age where friends like to gather there for birthdays or after cinema/swimming but otherwise we don't go near the place.

SuperMeerkat · 28/10/2019 06:40

*updated the time following the clocks going back I mean

We like it and it is pretty much the only place autistic ds will tolerate (and actually eat something)

IdentifyasTired · 28/10/2019 07:54

Our girls love it but we wouldn’t go were it not for them.

Reallybadidea · 28/10/2019 07:59

Yeah, it's pretty grim isn't it, I went once recently when it was basically the only place we could get into. Wished I'd gone hungry tbh!

At that price point I think Nandos and Wetherspoons are a better bet tbh.

SistersOfPercy · 28/10/2019 08:18

Went with (adult) DS the other week. I have an allergy to aspartame. Every drink on the menu they had contained aspartame. Ended up with a pint of water. They were seemingly licensed though so could have drank myself under the table but god help me having a coke with sugar.

It was a stop off en route to a movie and too late to go anywhere else unfortunately. But not a mistake I’ll make again.

Nuttyfellalovesnutella · 28/10/2019 08:22

I like it but it’s overpriced, and I’m not a fan of the buffet. The pizzas just seem to be sub standard. Food from the menu is ok - but have had burnt pizza the last couple of times. Lucky I like it well done!

Love pizza in general but yes it is overpriced.

loochmartino · 28/10/2019 08:28

I haven't been near Pizzahut since my run in with the charming manager of a Pizza Hut delivery.
Ordered 2 pizzas - one vegetarian for my vegetarian friend. When they were delivered, they both had meat on so we rang them to explain and when the man on the phone relayed it to his manager we heard the manager in the background say "what do they want me to do? Wank over it?" Confused
Which is gross and doesn't even make sense. We got our money back and went to Dominos.

SummerOfComedy · 28/10/2019 08:34

Went recently on the meerkat offer. Had garlic bread & cheese followed by bbq ribs, corn on the cob and chips. Partner had chicken bites & pizza.
Was really nice.

Never been to the buffet though. Not a fan of pizza.

Camomila · 28/10/2019 09:08

It's DS (3.5) favourite restaurant Hmm
I think he likes it because he can have bits of different things (bit of pizza, bit of pasta, cucumber and sweetcorn from the buffet)
And there is a small fun fair outside!

OkayGoooouuuuuullllll · 28/10/2019 09:09

I love a good lunchtime buffet 😬

GloGirl · 28/10/2019 09:11

I was so happy when I went there with my kids! They loved the salad bar, ate a pizza etc.

In fact reminded me I should go back this half term.

I've only ever been once for their buffet lunch and, gosh, never again.

SpaghettiSharon · 28/10/2019 09:14

This is why I can’t understand why Pizza Express is in trouble and Pizza Hut isn’t??? The former is soooo much better than the latter!

sashh · 28/10/2019 09:14

I've not been for ages.

I once had gastroenteritis after I'd been to Pizza Hut and then to the cinema, I'd had ice cream at the cinema.

I phoned both once I was well enough, the cinema manager asked me while I was calling.

Pizza Hut put me through to a manager who obviously had a procedure document and went through exactly what I had eaten, time, onset of symptoms, had I had a stool sample? etc etc.

All the right questions and then a call back with results of their investigation.

itsmecathycomehome · 28/10/2019 09:16

We placed an order for home delivery from Pizza Hut recently.

We were told it'd be 30mins. After an hour we rang again and were told it'd be another 30mins.

After 90mins half of our order arrived. The delivery guy didn't believe us that anything was missing. We rang up and were told that it must be out with another delivery and that they'd send it over 'when it turns up'.

An hour later we rang - no it hadn't turned up yet.

Half an hour later a few extra bits arrived. Still not our full order and stone cold.

Rang up to complain and was told they'd send some desserts over as an apology - never arrived.

The next day did an online complaint to their Head Office. Received an automated response saying they'd reply within 72hrs - still waiting 5 days later.

We have another Pizza Hut takeout nearby that I thought I might use next time, but they've just announced that they're closing; not surprising really.

nocluewhattodoo · 28/10/2019 09:18

We get it as a takeaway as it is so much cheaper than all the others papa johns/dominos etc, most of the medium pizzas are £5 delivered as are a lot of the sides. I wouldn't pay £14/15 for a single pizza but that gets us a whole family's worth of takeaway. I haven't been in a physical Pizza Hut restaurant for probably over a decade though.

EssentialHummus · 28/10/2019 09:25

I like it very occasionally but, like a PP, weekday lunchtime only.

neonglow · 28/10/2019 09:28

I like Pizza Hut!

GameSetMatch · 28/10/2019 09:31

It’s cheap and cheerful, I really don’t know what people expect for £15. It costs us £39.74 for two adult buffets and two kids meals incl drinks and the children’s desserts, where else’s can you eat for that price?

differentcity · 28/10/2019 09:39

Our local Pizza Hut always seems to be pretty much empty. Went once and had potato wedges with a strange, metallic taste to them, and a very dry pizza that was about ten seconds from burnt. Two other restaurants on the same row of shops have closed in the past year. No idea how Pizza Hut keeps on going.
