I was told twice this week that in these exact words “you actually look like you are getting younger!” I’ll take that as a compliment!! 🙌

Prisonbreak · 26/10/2019 19:47

My beat friend commented on a photo that I looked lovely

OhTheRoses · 26/10/2019 19:48

That I am the most resilient person in the organisation!

BloodyCats · 26/10/2019 19:50

Was told my hair looks lovely today. I told them I hadn’t washed it in a week Grin

Frogscotch7 · 26/10/2019 19:51

I put on a piano concert this afternoon and had lots of lovely compliments on my students’ and my own performances. I was thrilled to bits.

Flippant · 26/10/2019 20:01

This thread is making me both very sad and also very happy. I'm now determined to give a compliment to every one I talk to tomorrow. And especially the women - let's boost each other up! Not just physical appearance either...

Flippant · 26/10/2019 20:04

I can remember every negative comment I've ever had but have always brushed off the compliments. Hmm

Heymummee · 26/10/2019 20:04

One of the most beautiful women I know told me I looked beautiful at a friend’s wedding about 6 weeks ago. I was absolutely made up. Other than that, I’ve had none!
I love giving random compliments. It feels lovely.

sugarplumfairy2010 · 26/10/2019 20:06

My 9 year old came up to me earlier gave me a hug and told me I was the best mum ever😊 not sure what he is after😂

Blueshadow · 26/10/2019 20:06

My dd told me my hair looked lovely, yesterday- It was freshly washed, but not brushed!

tempnamechange98765 · 26/10/2019 20:13

From my 3 year old DS this afternoon: "You look pretty mummy." He often compliments me, it's very very sweet.

My DH does too so I imagine that's where he's got it from!

tigger001 · 26/10/2019 20:15

A woman who seen a photie of myself and my DS said I always do look glamorous.

HundredMilesAnHour · 26/10/2019 20:16

A random man came up to me in the park today and asked me out on a date. (I said no).

Yesterday, a different random man followed me down the street (I was on my lunch break going to M&S to buy a salad for lunch) telling me I was beautiful. I ignored him the first time but he persisted so I said thanks and then sprinted across the road away from him.

The day before one of the other women in my gym class told me how incredibly fit and toned I was looking (which was lovely as I'm struggling with injury at the moment so feeling lardy and unfit).

Prior to that, my ex messaged me telling how gorgeous I looked (in a photo he'd seen of me on social media when I was out with friends a few nights ago).

It's been the weirdest week. I'm 49. I thought this is the age when women are invisible. I've been invisible for years. Usually the only compliments I get are work related or gym related (such as "I hope I'm as fit as you when I'm your age" Hmm from the millenials so hardly super-flattering. Thanks for reminding me I'm old enough to be your mother!)

No idea what the hell has changed this week. Should I be happy? Instead it's made me remember how creepy some men can be. Wishing it was the hot lawyer in my gym class pursuing me rather than random men who are a good 15 years younger than me!

borntobequiet · 26/10/2019 20:19

That I have the body of a 20 year old. Not true - I once had one and know that the reality is far different. But I do look good for 60+.

Panticles · 26/10/2019 20:21

I had training today on using a complex set of stage flats. They need to be locked or unlocked in a sequence and run through slotted grooves on a bar. It is difficult potentially dangerous and definitely would be expensive and catastrophic if handing badly.
My trainer thought I did a smooth competent job.
I am still beaming.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 26/10/2019 20:26

"I love talking to you,Mum" DD (nearly 14)

caringiscreepy · 26/10/2019 20:31

Just the other day ' you dealt with it admirably' from a very good friend re my brain surgery and awful recovery

elephantoverthehill · 26/10/2019 20:36

'Nice ankle boots', 'thanks for your lesson' and 'good earrings Miss' all from students yesterday.

Redshoesandtheblues · 26/10/2019 20:39

@Pinkiii .....the holy grail of curly hair products??
You CANNOT leave that hanging!!

Dowser · 26/10/2019 20:40

Ah just remembered yesterday at the doctors when I took my coat off for blood test the nurse said I smelled lovely, like a spa

I was wearing an inexpensive Spanish perfume by Hortencia h called jardin secreto which I’m told is like Tom fords black orchid

Whether it is or not... it was a nice compliment
I just wished it lingered longer

Dowser · 26/10/2019 20:42

And the last compliment I gave was early Wednesday morning to the pilot of the plane who got us home safely after the flight from hell

You did very well up there.

NaviSprite · 26/10/2019 20:43

Last real compliment I got was from my FIL when he was a bit drunk at a family get together (mostly DH’s family) - to those who hadn’t met me properly he said “she has a great mind and is shit-hot - my son couldn’t have found a better match.”

Considering my relationship with my IL’s had been quite rocky since the arrival of our twins and he said it when he didn’t realise I was standing nearby - it was nice to hear 😊

notgivinga · 26/10/2019 20:49

My husband last night said I was the prettiest thing he's ever seen . I was in my pjs without a scrap of make up he had had a few to drink tho 😀

SoundofSilence · 26/10/2019 20:51

From DS1 in the canteen on a university open day:

"Seeing all the other parents walking round with their kids makes me realise that no matter how passive aggressive you can be (looking at me) and what an arsehole you are (looking at his dad) I'd rather have you than any of them."

Well I think it was a compliment, anyway.

BillywigSting · 26/10/2019 20:51

I'm a carer. One of my service users today said I was his favourite carer, I always make him smile and really look after him and he's made up when it's me that turns up. Also I make a great cup of tea (I don't).

His sister said she likes me too.

Great little ego boost Grin
