What’s everyone doing over half term?

Suffering. 😔

I have a stinking cold and feeling very sorry for myself.

I work in school and it is traditional to spend at least one half term break per year with the lurgy. This year my son also has it so we’ve spent a lot of today snuggled under a blanket together (he’s a huge 16 yo so he had most of the blanket) watching films.

I even broke into the Halloween chocolate supplies to try to make myself feel better but if just tasted bad 😔

DH has gone out (I was supposed to go too but seriously not up to it) so there’s no one to even take care of me....

Decorating and marking mainly. Hope to have a few days out with dc before we go back.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 22/10/2019 22:05

Ours is next week.

This weekend we are meeting friends for coffee and going to a local farm for a Halloween event and pumpkin picking.

I'm working Monday to Thursday and DS is going to his dad's. Then next weekend we're going to stuff our faces at a dessert restaurant, then the funfair and local firework display.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 23/10/2019 09:19

Wax- have a nice time Smile

Ours is next week and I'm off on Wednesday and Thursday although I work really flexibly so can take time on other days as well. My only school aged child is DS who is 14 so taking time off in school holidays can be bit redundant nowadays!

I will probably offer to drop him and some friends to the skate park one day then hang around in town until they are ready to go home. DD is coming home form Uni towards the end of the week and she and DS want to get a pumpkin.

Other than that I will try and catch up with some friends and do lots of lounging around/reading! Sometimes I yearn to go to kids Halloween events and other times I am so glad I don't have to anymore!

caperplips · 23/10/2019 10:58

ours is next week and we're going to Poland for 4 days - cannot wait!

IdentifyasTired · 23/10/2019 11:17

Seeing family from various parts of the country.
We have a birthday event thing planned for our oldest 3 DC as their birthdays are close together.

Also got a wedding anniversary party for my parents.
I’ve also promised my 2 eldest girls that we will have a ‘big girls’ movie afternoon without their 2 younger sisters. A chance to eat some yummy stuff and chat/cuddle up together.
Then the usual Halloween things, pumpkin carving, trick or treating etc etc.
It’s going to be busy.

IdentifyasTired · 23/10/2019 11:18

Oh ours is next week also.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 23/10/2019 15:37

Nice. Anyone else?

Half term is next week.
Saturday - gymnastics and probably DD's regular Saturday exhaution tantrum
Sunday - maybe cinema to see Shaun the Sheep
Monday - kids have a sports club in the morning and in the afternoon i have physio and a mobile hairdresser appointment
Tuesday- I'm working, DH bringing kids to a bouncy castle day
Wednesday- I'm working, good luck DH
Thursday - visiting a farm that is putting on a halloween event in the morning then coming home and getting ready, we're hosting a small Halloween party
Friday - dunno. DD is keen for some of her schoolfriends to come round but I think a quiet day would be a better idea.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 23/10/2019 16:03

Buggeroff- aww, I hope you feel better soon.flowers

Thanks. Feeling a bit better today. Have started to help DH decorating DDs room as a surprise for her next visit home. Usually I hate the smell of gloss paint but I am currently appreciating its ability to clear my nose.

DS is still “dying” of course.....

I'm going to Turkey, I need a bit of summer!

Whattodoabout · 23/10/2019 22:00

It’s baby DS’s first birthday so we’ll be going to the zoo to celebrate. Also lots of Halloween things planned- a party in a local art gallery, a RSPB moonlight walk on Friday and usual trick or treating and Halloween baking. Pumpkin picking this weekend too plus I’ve booked them on an archeology camp next week at a local castle which should be interesting Grin.

Whattodoabout · 23/10/2019 22:01

Oh and watching the Addams Family at the cinema too plus a local bonfire and firework display at the end of next week. I love this time of year.

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/10/2019 22:07

Also next week. A few days at home - hopefully weather will be dry so we can do a NT property trail, a park and then a mini road trip which unhelpfully will clash with the Rugby world cup final.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 24/10/2019 09:50

Is anyone’s school off longer than a week ?
