So why is YOUR toddler angry at you today?

DS is very cross. Reasons include:
I won't let him eat whole grapes
I wouldn't let him play at driving the car (when the key was in the house)
I let the doctor look at his ears
I wouldn't let him run screaming around the doctors waiting room
I gave him antibiotic
I wouldn't let him fling himself into the duck pond

Believe it or not he is normally a very sunny natured child Hmm

I wouldn't buy her expensive ladies (not even children's) unicorn slippers.

We wanted her to get in the car (totally unreasonable I know)

She can't ride her ponycycle because she has put toys all over the floor

The cat is on my knee (she has no interest in being on my knee but apparently he shouldn't be there)

INeedNewShoes · 18/10/2019 15:41

DD is upset with me for having not managed to fix the bathroom light.

'Mummy WILL fix it' she keeps saying.

Yes Mummy will fix it but not until I work out HOW. I've already had two evenings up a ladder trying to replace the sodding cord which has broken off.

HakunaM · 18/10/2019 15:42

We haven't had a toddler tantrum in a while but I will never forget the tantrum DD threw because we didn't buy the "sea toilet seat with fishies in it" at the DIY store. We had to carry her screaming from the premises.

I didn't have a wide enough choice of scarves for her to select from before the school run. Apparently four is just not enough.

Sotiredbutcannotsleep · 18/10/2019 15:47

Because I'm not singing Baby Shark for the hundredth time today.....

ClemDanFango · 18/10/2019 15:49

DD age 3.4 arms folded and death stare
“I am cross mummy.”
“Why are you cross my love?”
“Because I am!”
“What happened?”
“I’m just crossing mummy it’s ridicaliss!” Stomps away glaring.
Me: Confused

PivotPivotPivottt · 18/10/2019 15:51

I won't let her continue to pick the marshmallows out of her sister's box of cereal

I won't let her spit fruit loops on my living room carpet which I gave as a compromise for the marshmallows

I won't let her drink my cola

She shat on the stairs

I didn't put her cardigan on fast enough

I put In the Night Garden on at her request

There is still over 2 hours until bedtime so there is still much more anger to be directed towards me. Oh no I just remembered she slept in the car for a whole 5 minutes so that means a later bedtime tonight. She only has to shut her eyes for 10 seconds and her bedtime routine goes out the window Hmm

LittleAndOften · 18/10/2019 15:51

Because I'm not Daddy and we're all about Daddy right now Hmm

meow1989 · 18/10/2019 15:54

Because this morning I gave him an extra bit of malt loaf for breakfast which he wanted to walk around holding instead of eating. I took it out of his hand when it was time to go to nursery 20 mins later. The fury.

KitKat1985 · 18/10/2019 15:56

Because she wanted me to set up the paddling pool in the garden, and I said no. It was cold and raining but seemingly that's irrelevant.

GummyGoddess · 18/10/2019 15:58

I wouldn't let him have an opened umbrella in his car seat in my tiny car. Even if it had been able to open, I wouldn't have been able to see.

QueenWhatevs · 18/10/2019 16:02

😂 you are all Terrible Parents but @SamBeckettslastleap takes the biscuit for speaking whilst in public with a teenager - and to Another Teenager, no less Shock Monster 😂

Four, so not a toddler.

He finished school at 12 as he had an appointment, not something he was angry about.

Screamed his head off as someone ate all of the oreos, he ate them this morning when I was in the bathroom.

Stomped off and wouldn’t look at me as I’m making him take pants on holiday.

I washed his pillowcase.

I didn’t correctly guess what he had drawn on some paper.

QueenWhatevs · 18/10/2019 16:09

The 5yo isn't too impressed that I made her have another go at blending m-a-t when she decided it blended to say 'happy'.

God where to start?! Tbh though she's been pretty 'good' today compared to plenty of other days! She's only 16m as well.

Today some of the tantrums we had were:

  1. Not wanting to have her face and hands cleaned X5
  2. Not getting her out the pram quick enough when we came in
  3. Actually, not wanting to go in the pram for us to go out, now that I think about it
  4. Nappy changes X4
  5. Not wanting to go in her cotbed to nap even though clearly exhausted (and promptly fell asleep a couple of mins later)
  6. Not wanting to go in travel cot in her own room to nap even though clearly tired (this may end up a failure as five mins in and tho she's not crying I can hear her talking to herself and messing about...)
  7. Getting annoyed that I dared offer her some more lunch as I wasn't sure if she wasn't finished or not
  8. Not taking her bib off fast enough X2
  9. Not holding her hand to walk around with her because I had to sign in to playgroup
10. Sitting her on the floor for a min instead of going straight in her high chair (didn't have the snack ready so thought she would be more annoyed to sit in the chair and wait, but was wrong)

Ok there are many more and this is a GOOD day! I guess they have all been short lived today tbf and only one occasion of her laying her head on the floor and crying so far.

Deadringer · 18/10/2019 16:22

Not a toddler but my DD is sulking because we got a new TV.

Farfromtheusual · 18/10/2019 16:25

I wouldn't let him go down the stairs first (I go first incase he falls so I can catch him) and because he didn't want me to peal his orange.

Ziraphale · 18/10/2019 16:32

I stole her bogies.

SospanFrangipan · 18/10/2019 16:38

He was over tired.
I gave him the chocolate he asked for.
Didn't want t sit in his car seat.
My Mum got out of the car.
I put him to bed for a nap.

Got to love the mood swings of a toddler! Is it a full moon?

Beautiful3 · 18/10/2019 16:41

Mine was angry for not having a biscuit, that she absolutely does not want to eat?!

Ahundredpercentthatbitch · 18/10/2019 16:45

He asked me for an apple.

I asked him if he wanted me to cut it up for him.

Apparently that was an unforgivable thing for me to say.

happypotamus · 18/10/2019 17:14

4 years old, but acts more like a toddler than she did when she was 2:
she didn't want to wear her coat or her cardigan but her arms were cold
I wouldn't carry her coat (because I was already carrying all the bags)
Daddy wasn't home (Daddy is never at home at that time, but, unfortunately for both of us, he isn't going to be home all weekend)
the cat was sitting where she wanted to sit and I wouldn't let her push him off so she could sit there
her sister spoke just before she was about to speak, somehow her sister should have known she was about to say something and waited

The other days she had a screaming tantrum because it was raining and slightly windy so when she ran her hood blew down, and I couldn't do anything about this. I was glad when we got to school.

Kpo58 · 18/10/2019 17:48

Because I wouldn't let him out highlights in his hair with the tomato soup that he had for lunch.

Because I wouldn't let him jump in puddles in his new shoes.

Because I eventually got fed up and put him in the buggy because he was walking really slowly and wanting to go in everyone's front garden.

Ohhshiney · 18/10/2019 17:56

The biggest tantrum in the world full sobbing and screaming took ages to calm down all because he didn’t want to get out of the car 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve heard of tantrums getting in but never out

BillyAndTheSillies · 18/10/2019 18:00

He wanted to go to the park but didn't want to leave the house.

When I finally persuaded him out with two week old DC2, it started to rain and he didn't want to play in the rain - even with welly boots and waterproofs.

But, as I'm sure you have guessed, he didn't want to go home either.
