So why is YOUR toddler angry at you today?

DS is very cross. Reasons include:
I won't let him eat whole grapes
I wouldn't let him play at driving the car (when the key was in the house)
I let the doctor look at his ears
I wouldn't let him run screaming around the doctors waiting room
I gave him antibiotic
I wouldn't let him fling himself into the duck pond

Believe it or not he is normally a very sunny natured child Hmm

@Beautiful3 same , the biscuit! I was wrong! They did not want a biscuit!

LittleLongDog · 18/10/2019 18:07

@Loyaultemelie what is a ponycycle? It sounds amazing!

QueenWhatevs · 18/10/2019 19:35

AngryToddler is angry no longer. He is all dosed up, in clean warm pjs fast asleep clutching his Iggle Piggle looking like butter wouldn't melt. Awww.

I told DD (1) off for punching DS(2) in the face and DS is devastated because he feels bad that I put her on the naughty step and is telling me that she didn't do anything through sobs. She is smirking

zebrapig · 18/10/2019 19:54

Amazingly we have had no tantrums today. This is of note because we normally have no end of them. He can scream for 45 mins solid on demand for no valid reason so it makes a lovely change. It makes up for the fact that I was lying with him on his bedroom floor at 2am after a screaming fit.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 18/10/2019 19:59

No children but my cat has moaned at me for half an hour straight even though he has just been fed. I tried singing him a song, and that was a wrong move. We tried Dreamies and they were disdainfully batted out of my hand under the sofa. He has bitten my foot with his ears back like a lunatic, and is now trying to get the Dreamies out from under the sofa whilst refusing to look at me. Confused

Walkerbean16 · 18/10/2019 20:02

She wanted her juice in a particular bottle that I couldn't locate.

She didn't want to get dressed

She didnt want me to brush her hair

She wanted to wear black boots not brown boots

She wanted to go see the fishes but she didnt want me to take her (ok you drive then you loon)

She didnt want her baby sister to be asleep.

She wanted to hold the fish in the aquarium

She wanted an ice cream and the ice cream stand was closed.

She didnt want to pick her older sister up from school.

She didnt want her bedtime milk warming up.

Probably a million other things. She seems to whine all sodding day at the minute.

meganxz · 18/10/2019 20:13

Because I wouldn't let her feed me broken glass

MagicKingdom17 · 18/10/2019 20:24

DD is 7 months and I actually can’t wait for these tantrums - how do you all keep a straight face when dealing with them?!

TheWeatherGirl1 · 18/10/2019 20:29

Something about orange segments.
I'm not really sure what happened after I peeled said orange and then handed him a piece, I just know that it was enough to break him.

SamBeckettslastleap · 18/10/2019 20:38

You properly made me laugh @QueenWhatevs

Meags1 · 18/10/2019 20:41

Hi new here Smile
My son has had a few melt downs today, firstly because he couldn't play with the hot tap, then I made him the cauliflower cheese he asked for, and I asked him to stop licking me to name a few.

username1724 · 18/10/2019 20:45

Dd had a tantrum once because she couldnt find her eyebrows. On her face. Ds is 2 now and tantrum ensued because I wouldn't let him stand on the kitchen counter, wouldn't let him hold the paracetamol packet, wouldnt let him hide my keys. His blanket was in the wash. I could go on for days. Yay to toddlers!

michellejj · 18/10/2019 20:56

I love this kind of toddler posts. They are so funny. But I can't help wonder whether my 2year old is unusual or only parents with funny stories post.
My 2yr+3months old has only had two tantrums in his whole life. Once because I refused to give him a 2nd profiterole and ate the last one myself. Once because he didn't want to leave a restaurant and go home with me. I think they were pretty good reasons to be angry at me.
Am I just lucky to have an easy toddler? Or the terrible phase is yet to come?

tempnamechange98765 · 18/10/2019 21:26

michellejj yeah sorry, don't hold your breath. My DS was an actual angel until roughly 2.8 or 2.9. He's now 3.9 and evil.

Loyaultemelie · 18/10/2019 21:55

@LittleLongDog it's a horse/unicorn that you push the pedals up and down to make it go. It sounds a bit crap but I really wish they did an adult sized one Blush

So why is YOUR toddler angry at you today?
LittleLongDog · 18/10/2019 22:12

It sounds glorious @Loyaultemelie I also want an adult one! I would ride that beast all over the place 😂

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 18/10/2019 22:25

So far the DTs don't tantrum. Yet. But they do talk to each other in what I call their pensioners chinwagging over the fence voices.

I put them in their high chairs for snack:

DT1 Hiya
DT2 (theatrically noticing him) OOOOH hiya
DT1 Apple.
DT2 yep, yep, apple.
DT1 (drops apple on floor) Oh no. Oh no.
DT2 (leaning over to look) Oh dear dear. Down.
DT1 Yep down. Oh no.

They go on like that for ages. They are hilarious together, totally like two little old men complaining about the weather.

GymSloth · 18/10/2019 22:38

Johnny your twins sound hilarious Grin

You should film some of these conversations.

Stationeryqueen · 18/10/2019 22:51

My DN today-

He wanted me to make the noise a mouse makes, I did an amazing mouse impression, he cried because I squeaked like a mouse.

Me:Starts squeaking
DN:No Aunty...a mouse
Me:

poppythetroll · 18/10/2019 23:00

DS is nearly 3 and we have recently cut out the daytime naps so today this has resulted in a very short tempered boy who wasn't happy that I wouldn't let him use the sharp knife to cut carrots, he couldn't find his dummy (it was in his mouth!) and I wouldn't get in the bath with my clothes on!! On a positive note he was asleep by 7pm and I had a glass of wine by ten past.....

heykarumba · 19/10/2019 07:17

@MagicKingdom17 the novelty wears off 😂

BertieBotts · 19/10/2019 12:44

Awww Johnny I love it. I want to see :o

DS2 is angry at me for trying to feed him his own lunch. He only wants my lunch (we had leftovers so different things) and he only wants to eat it by himself.

DS1 (preteen) is angry at me because I signed him up for something fun that will "take up his whole weekend" and "be longer than school" although hopefully he's actually enjoying it by now as it's nearly finished.

spaniorita · 19/10/2019 22:58

I wouldn't let him smack me in the face with a toy bus.
