Which BMI suits you best?

I've ranged from BMI 30 down to 19. Currently 21 and I think this probably is my best weight. Any lighter and my boobs disappear and much heavier and my bum and thighs get too big. What suits you best?

Upper end of "normal" for me. Much less and my boobs disappear, any more and I have a big belly and multiple chins.

francienolan · 18/10/2019 18:45

I'm just over 25 right now and think about 10 pounds less would be best which would put me at 24. I was lighter than that and looked not so great, a bit scrawny and tired. I've been doing a lot of strength training and having better muscles at this weight I am approaching what looks best on me. I have wide hipbones though so it's best to have enough weight on that I have a chest to fill out an hourglass figure though.

ShinyGiratina · 18/10/2019 18:53
  1. Currently steady at 23 which is fine, but I'm a pear shape with a mum tum, and I never gain at the top to balance the mum tum, it always goes to my waist, hips thighs and face. My body likes 23 though! There's the right amount of me, it's just in the wrong places Grin

A thin person's BMI would suit me better but I'm losing weight slowly but I don't know what my BMI is.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/10/2019 18:57

About 28 for me.

OpheliaBee · 18/10/2019 19:27

I’ve ranged from 19-26. I feel best around 22-23. Any less than 22 and I start to look unwell as I have a kind of compact, muscular build, and exercise a lot. I look great a bit heavier because it all goes to my boobs, but it makes me shit at running!

megletthesecond · 18/10/2019 19:30

Lower end of normal. I'm lucky that it's my natural fighting weight.

SoftBlocks · 18/10/2019 19:32

19? The lower end unfortunately as I’m quite small boned any weight really shows up on me.

Runningonempty84 · 18/10/2019 19:33

18 or 19. I'm at 21 at the moment and feeling too heavy for racing weight.

ComtesseDeSpair · 18/10/2019 19:51

18-19 - like @Runningonempty84 (who I presume is a fellow runner) any heavier and my racing performance really starts to drop. Apart from that, When I was heavier I just carried weight in all the “wrong” places - women who carry it on their boobs and bum look sexy, but I just had it on my stomach and thighs and looked lumpen.

I lift weights as well so the fierce muscle tone on a small frame really shows, I like the way I look a lot (and, from comments, so do those around me!)

SunshineAngel · 18/10/2019 19:56

I used to be 41, then lost a lot of weight (a hell of a lot) and went down to 22. I could actually have done with losing a little more, but then I got with my partner and it's crept back up to 26 (but has been stable for a year).

I would like to get it down to 20, and I'm joining a gym again on Monday so fingers crossed :). I've done it before so I know I can do it again!

Runningonempty84 · 18/10/2019 20:01

Yep, @ComtesseDeSpair, guilty as charged.

A few extra pounds makes a huge difference to my running.

heatingsoup · 18/10/2019 21:01

Mine never strays too far from 19 so I don't know if anything else would suit me!

feelingverylazytoday · 18/10/2019 21:07

My BMI is 24, ideally I'd like it to be 22-23, just for health reasons really, as I'm an apple shape and could do with losing another inch or two from my waist.

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 18/10/2019 21:10

Statistically, the sexiest BMI for women — according to men — is 22.85. For men, it’s quite a lot higher.

MadameJosephine · 18/10/2019 21:12

I’m not there yet, I’ve got it down from 39 to 31 over the last year so would be delighted to get it into the 20’s and no longer be classed as obese. From memory I think I felt best at about a stone and a half less than I weigh at the moment which would be a BMI of about 26-27. Any lower and it takes a toll on my wrinkles!

blahblahblahblahhh · 18/10/2019 21:16

18-19 for me. Currently 20-21 and want to lose another stone.

YeOldeTrout · 18/10/2019 21:16

I don't know what I look like so this is just about how I feel in my own skin.

I would like to try 18-18.5 & then I could let you know if that suited me. :)

But actually I'm pretty comfy around 20-21, where my BMI has been for yrs, so that's fine, too.

HotSince82 · 18/10/2019 21:16

21-22.5. Currently at 22.
In my teens/early twenties my bmi was 18.5 but I've developed breasts since then and prefer my face a bit fuller at thirty six than I did at twenty three.

JellyfishAndShells · 18/10/2019 21:24

24 - which is what I am atm, yay. Any lower and my face is too thin - I’m older so the elasticity isn’t there in the same way any more. I carry weight on my bosoms and thighs but oddly not on my stomach so, though I would be happy to lose some up top, I’m not trying to lose it on my tummy which is what a lot of people seem to want. I’m healthy and active and can buy clothes fairly easily - content with that.

Bloodybridget · 18/10/2019 21:30

Mine is 21 now which is much lower than ever before, I have lost a lot of weight due to illness and felt much too thin at first, but now I'm used to my new size it's fine and I would like to stay like this (not much chance if I keep eating at current rate!).

AuntieStella · 18/10/2019 21:33

I run best between about 19.8 and 21.2

I'm slightly more than that now, unfortunately, but will I hope ge it sorted over the coming weeks (and then wreck it again over Xmas)

AuntieStella · 18/10/2019 21:36

That should have been 19.8 and 20.2 (I'm about 21.2 now)

I'm a distance runner, eat like a horse, but perform better when on the slim side. I look ok at current size/weight.

milkysmum · 18/10/2019 21:36

Mine is currently 19.1
This is the lowest it's been in a while. I still don't feel 100% happy but think that's because I need to tone up more rather than lose any more weight.

Chickydoo · 18/10/2019 21:40

Mine is 19. I am ok with this, I do have a slight frame 18 looks best to me
