We're looking for this church window, we're in west Wales, we've been to Llanwnda, little Newcastle and Letterston, but we haven't found it yet. Can any wise mumsnetters give us a clue??
We've just thought, it might not even be in a church!!
Thank you Smile

Could it be Llanwrda or is it definitely typed as Llanwrda?

Polkadotdelight · 17/10/2019 22:36

Dammit. You know what I mean!

KnittingSister · 17/10/2019 22:36

@Minorityreports

No, not from his mum and dad Grin

Thats someones front door. I am in Wales, and visit West Wales a lot and it is not a church as far as I know (I visit graveyards/cemeteries)

NannyR · 17/10/2019 22:44

I agree, it looks like a stained glass panel from a front door, it looks small, not like a church window.

MsPepperPotts · 17/10/2019 22:45

Could this be the one? i.e. top of the arch above the figures head

KnittingSister · 17/10/2019 22:47

I've just checked the card again, it says detail of window, llanwnda, fishguard.
Definitely Llanwnda, not llanwrda and it says fishguard, so I don't think they got both wrong.

I'm wondering if it's someone's house?

@MsPepperPotts

I don't think so, thank you for looking Smile

Thank you all for looking and for your suggestions, we'll have to keep our eyes open and see if we can spot it! It gives us another reason to come back to west Wales for a holiday! Grin

Maybe go to the village, and ask people in the local shop - and in the pub as well. Someone might recognise it.

cometothinkofit · 17/10/2019 23:13

Hang on. If it is more likely to be a stained glass panel in a house... could it be in a vicarage? That would narrow the search down a bit.

LonginesPrime · 17/10/2019 23:54

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the pub...OP, you will look like a loon!

I reckon it's just off someone's front door.

SlobDylan · 18/10/2019 00:16

Worth bearing in mind that it could be a really small part of a window. So possible you missed it?

@SlobDylan
No, definitely didn't miss it, there was no coloured glass at all.

Have a look on this, OP.

stainedglass.llgc.org.uk/

To me it looks like it's part of a bigger window - the edges have been blurred out in Photoshop. I'm going to have a look too because I love trying to track this sort of thing down!

MrsWombat · 18/10/2019 11:47

Have you tried twitter? My local vicars are big on Twitter so the welsh ones might be too and know where it is?

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 18/10/2019 13:58

www.fishguardartssociety.org.uk

Has that link been posted? Might be worth forwarding an enquiry.

Nice discussion. It looks quite Arts and Crafts period to me. I followed a link from the stained glass org posted above and went through all the pages of the Flickr Group. Didn't find anything to check out and it looks like the Group's pretty much archived now, but there are some lovely photos on there.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 18/10/2019 14:06

Maybe send the photo and a letter asking if anyone has any clues to

@Kernowgal

Thank you, I've looked there but can't see it Sad but did see some other nice windows for our next visit! Grin

Yes, I think I'll contact the local glass makers and see if they can help Smile

daft question but where did you get it from? if it was in your family someone must know

Redshoesandtheblues · 18/10/2019 18:32

Nothing helpful to add, but just wanted to say I really hope you find out! Clearly, it means something special so best of luck.
