I always do and have picked up issues. Do you check them?

Extremely carefully.

But never found anything untoward thankfully.

Theknacktoflying · 16/10/2019 18:48

Yes ... and credit card statements ...
It is amazing way to see how those little transactions add up to ££££ and the no. of ‘wasted’ things ...

jennymanara · 16/10/2019 18:50

I got told on another thread that I was very unusual in doing this.

I check my bank balance on an almost daily basis using my banking app. If the balance doesn't look right, I immediately check my transactions.

WalkAwaySugarbear · 16/10/2019 18:54

Always, weekly at least but often daily.

itsasausage · 16/10/2019 18:55

yes every few days and find issues fairly often. usually things like being double charged for internet/tv use

septemberismyfavouritemonth · 16/10/2019 18:56

Check my banking app daily! Bit obsessed!

OldEvilOwl · 16/10/2019 18:56

Check online daily

HopefulFor2020 · 16/10/2019 18:56

I probably look at my online banking (app) 3-4 times a day! I'm always confused by money saving advice saying to check for extra direct debits. I'd know within hours (seconds as I get an alert) if I had a dd or standing order that I didn't need to be paying and it would be cancelled pretty sharpish

darkriver19886 · 16/10/2019 18:59

I keep an eye on my account daily. Sad I know. 😂 Sometimes I hope money's going to materialize.

speakout · 16/10/2019 19:00

I give a quick glance through- OH checks, it is a joint account, and he has a lot of expenses, overtime, etc through the account. We don;t check to the last penny, no, just the larger transactions and look for duplicates etc.
We only get a printed statement every three months and it can run to 15 pages.

jackparlabane · 16/10/2019 19:00

I don't really check my bank statements unless I'm surprised by the balance, or want to double check a payment was refunded. I do read my credit card bill each month, which contains virtually all our expenditure, and ask DH what various things are - about once a year a refund hasn't come through so its easier to get the credit card to refund than a dodgy company.

BrieAndChilli · 16/10/2019 19:01

I think it depends on how much income you have. If you are a high earner and are very confident that your outgoings and spending will never be higher than your income then you can probably safely not really look at your bank account on a daily basis
However if you are a normal pleb like most of us and need to budget then yes you probably will look at your bank account regularly. Me and DH often text each with “blah company has taken x amount done the bank - know anything about it??“ if we don’t recognise a transaction. the other then will say oh yes that was the car part I ordered or think that was the cafe we stopped at

Wildorchidz · 16/10/2019 19:03

Have been getting e-statements for years. Check daily using the app.

PandaTurtle · 16/10/2019 19:05

Yes always check them though sometimes only monthly.

mrscatmad31 · 16/10/2019 19:05

I check mine daily but I regularly deal with customers who have had Direct Debits going out of their accounts for years and don't realise, apparently it's our fault :-/

wendz86 · 16/10/2019 19:09

Also check almost daily here . Need to keep track of spending .

which1 · 16/10/2019 19:12

Oh there's no way I'd check it daily but I check it monthly to ensure I recognise all the transactions.
In doing so I discovered I'd been a victim of card fraud a few years back.

Topseyt · 16/10/2019 19:15

I check everything regularly using online banking. I have found the occasional error, though nothing major.

user1497207191 · 16/10/2019 19:15

I log all transactions onto book-keeping software every few days and then reconcile the book-keeping against bank and credit card accounts every couple of weeks. I've never been defrauded but there've been times when I've picked up on standing orders and direct debits that I needed to cancel which could have easily got forgotten if I didn't check regularly.

Longdistance · 16/10/2019 19:16

Yes. I have online banking and check daily, if not more. I’ve had my card cloned before, so I could be slightly paranoid. I also like to make sure my bills etc leave my account on time.

Ragwort · 16/10/2019 19:18

Yes I still get a monthly paper statement and always check it, DH & I have a joint account & he checks it on line most days and does reconciliations & transfers money in and out of savings accounts as necessary.

WatchingFromTheWings · 16/10/2019 19:18

I'm paperless for banking but check the online apps daily.

meow1989 · 16/10/2019 19:19

Yes, the other week I actually had nearly £200 taken out in three transactions as I had my card cloned, I tend to.check my balance every few days on my phone anyway to keep track

Aquamarine1029 · 16/10/2019 19:20

Every day online. It's just takes a minute and I think it's really important to keep a close eye. Twice I have found fraudulent charges. Two years ago someone from the Bronx in NYC used my debit card info to order £60 worth of pizza.
