The Sistine Screamer

I'm in Rome on a romantic weekend with DH. We've been here a few times before but there's always more to see.

Today we revisited the Vatican Museum and whilst enjoying the Sistine chapel ceiling I suddenly remembered the thread, in AIBU I believe, where an OP wanted to know if her husband was BU for walking away embarrassed when she screamed and cried because of the beauty of the ceiling. I'm not ashamed to say I snorted out loud at the memory.

Does anyone else remember that thread?

Didn’t it turn out to be of hairy handed origin?

Lucked · 12/10/2019 21:53

One of my favourites. I don’t know if it is in classics ... goes off to check.

purplecorkheart · 12/10/2019 21:54

Yes, it was bonkers. I am sure it is in classics

Absolute legend of a troll. Grin

purplecorkheart · 12/10/2019 21:55

Hairy hand origin??? What does that mean😀

amusedbush · 12/10/2019 21:55

I think the same person who had us over with Chester Zoo tickets.

Oh, was it?? Both threads were excellent entertainment Grin

Mwnci123 · 12/10/2019 21:55

I remember! That was a good one. It wasn't an isolated incident and he was not at all unreasonable, as I recall.

NonUrinatInVentum · 12/10/2019 21:56

Ah no I'm so disappointed it was a troll. I thought she was a legend Grin

Mwnci123 · 12/10/2019 21:56

If it was trolling it was good trolling. Up there with Balonz.

Horehound · 12/10/2019 21:57

Yep, it get referenced here quite regularly!

She never came back to concede she was a loon.
I don't think MNHQ said she was a troll.

NotYourHolidayDick · 12/10/2019 21:58

She is a legend! The best bullshit Ive ever read on here, and I've been here 15 years.

Must dig though classics for them both soon.

NannaNoodleman · 12/10/2019 21:59

Nooooo... tell me it wasn't a troll!!

NotYourHolidayDick · 12/10/2019 21:59

hore yes she did 😀

AllTheCakes · 12/10/2019 22:02

It’s a shame there isn’t the same quality of troll now!

anothernamejeeves · 12/10/2019 22:02

I recently discovered the delights of the Sistine chapel screamer on here but Chester
Zoo tickets?

NonUrinatInVentum · 12/10/2019 22:04

Redcrayons · 12/10/2019 22:07

Noooo, Chester zoo was a troll? That was a great thread

I hope the Sistine screamer was a troll, nobody could be that batshit.

stanski · 12/10/2019 22:09

I've missed the Chester zoo thread?

NonUrinatInVentum · 12/10/2019 22:15

I also missed the Chester Zoo one

OP posts:
Redcrayons · 12/10/2019 22:16

Chester zoo - poster used a child minder who asked for extra money for trip to Chester zoo (its quite pricey). Child talked about 'going to the zoo' but actually described museum on Chester. OP asked for receipt and childminder gave her a hand drawn one. There was loads of other stuff. Went on for ages and I've probably missed loads of details.

Burpsandrustles · 12/10/2019 22:18

Op I remember the thread, pure brilliance... There used to be lots of surreal, hilarious very clearly tongue in cheek threads like that on mumsnet.

That threat really cheered me up on a very tough day.. Not only was it hillarous but it made me think of Rome, a place I adore.

There was one about Alfred burning cakes... A fabulous Mil one.... And of course the Brian yoni massage Grin.

I wonder in these cases what drives some posters mad wondering whether it's truthful or not? It's not harming a sole and infact cheering many of us up?

In these cases does it matter if its a harmless brilliant writer having fun?

Really?

Why the utter obsession if it was 'truthful' or

beelzeboob · 12/10/2019 22:19

How does everyone know the sistene screamer was a troll?

highwindowsbluesky · 12/10/2019 22:20

here it is

Burpsandrustles · 12/10/2019 22:21

Troll?

Have we lost that ability to step back and view it objectively?

And have fun? This is a supportive site after all meant to support other mums?

Many hillarous threads have helped me get through dark days, such a shame when troll i, it's not true.... Brian massaging fannies in Hull... Troll troll drown out the light hearted comments.

I wish mnhq would get more on the 🎭 case of this sort of stuff.

MercuryRising · 12/10/2019 22:21

I remember this thread - hilarious! I didn't know it was a troll!
