SPOILER ALERT

ET: The bathroom scene, where ET and Elliot are on the floor and Elliot gets taken away, with ET screaming for him to come back 😢😢 And of course when ET is found all grey and dying in the water, then when he temporarily dies and obviously the ending 😭

Forest Gump: When nobody lets young Forest sit down on the bus and then he sees Jenny for the first time 😥 When Jenny dies "Every night we read a book and he's so smart Jenny. You'd be so proud of him" 😭😭😭

Atonement: The ending, when Bryony explains the reality 😢

Theory of Everything: The croquet scene. There's no dialogue, but it's heart breaking. When Stephen has had his operation and can no longer talk. The look they give one another 💔 Also when Jane breaks up with Stephen "I have loved you. I did my best" and he just looks broken and they cry together 😢

The Reader: When Michael sees Hannah in court and realises she's actually illiterate after she refuses to give a sample of her hand writing and then her sentence. When Hannah hears Michael's voice on the recorder and of course the ending 😭😭😭

I have so many more, including Disney and Pixar Blush but I'd be here all day!

Over to you...

@Simonsaysitschristmas have you read the book? The ending is different (I wish the filmmakers had stuck with it) and so much sadder!

Timmytimetime · 04/10/2019 22:24

The scene before Aidan Connor (Shane Ward) kills himself in Corrie, when he's sitting on the sofa crying.

Quaffy · 04/10/2019 22:30

ginger I agree - I didn’t get all that sad watching the film ending as my primary emotion was shock they had changed it!

DamonSalvatoresDinner · 04/10/2019 22:30

OMG I forgot Joyce's death in Buffy. Buffy quietly saying, "Mommy?"

And the episode of Angel where he becomes human for a day (I will remember you) and then has to go back 24 hours and give Buffy up.

Tootyfilou · 04/10/2019 22:31

Mark Greene dying in E.R

Shosha1 · 04/10/2019 22:31

When Ennis finds his shirt in Jack's closet. Brokeback Mountain.

When Claire gives birth to Faith.
Outlander.

Subbed at them both

Hadenoughofitall441 · 04/10/2019 22:34

When mark Greene dies In ER
When Keith gets shit by his own brother in one tree hill.
Alicia not dealing with wills death in the good wife.
One of the worst for me is the first episode of season 2 ugly betty where Hilda is mourning Santos except you don’t find out till the end. When I first watched that I thought I was gonna cry 😢 and I don’t cry at movies.
When auggies best friend starts to reject him in wonder.
In extremely loud And incredibly close when little Oscar hear the call from his dad shortly before dying in the world trade centre.
I find Jack Frost quite sad but I still love it.
So many more I can’t think of right now.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 04/10/2019 22:35

Also five feet apart got me 😖

Iceburglettuce · 04/10/2019 22:39

"Look what we made" theory of everything

Iceburglettuce · 04/10/2019 22:41

"Your daddy was a hero" "my daddy was a hero" men in black

JesusHRooseveltChristAgain · 04/10/2019 22:43

Every episode of Call the Midwife, OMG I can't make it through any of them without balling my eyes out!!
Also agree that the opening scene of Up is so sad!
And finally Shawshank Redemption- I really can't hold it in when Brooks dies 😭😭😭

GeneHuntLover · 04/10/2019 22:46

Cinema Paradiso

Pinkarsedfly · 04/10/2019 22:48

Coronation Street when Stan Ogden died and Hilda sobbed over his glasses. Wonderful acting.

The film Arrival about the linguist who learned to communicate with aliens and learned how to view time the way they did - eg not linear. She knew before she was even born that her daughter would die of cancer, but she had her anyway, just to experience knowing her. I probably haven’t explained it well, but it triggered me something chronic and I sobbed.

Abibranning · 04/10/2019 22:49

When a Man Loves a Woman, Meg Ryan's character is an alcoholic and passes out in the shower smashing through the shower screen, her young daughter finds her and has to call the emergency number to get her Mum's husband (he's a pilot) and she's sobbing down the phone 'mommys died' that gets me everytime.

DamonSalvatoresDinner · 04/10/2019 22:49

Stranger Things. Last episode of season 3.

I can't say who or what but OMG!

MaidenMotherCrone · 04/10/2019 22:51

Dobby dying. Heartbreaking.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 04/10/2019 22:54

@Ginger1982 I haven’t actually - will add it to my amazon basket ASAP!

pooboobsleeprepeat · 04/10/2019 22:54

The ending of homeward bound.

All of the good dinosaur!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 04/10/2019 22:55

So many that have already been mentioned. Yes to cinema paradiso- my favourite ever film.

Coco makes me cry big fat ugly tears.

Steel magnolias- her son I think it was or her brothers told the story so that Shelby wouldn’t be forgotten. IIRC her husband remarried shortly after her death.

Pinkarsedfly · 04/10/2019 22:57

Most episodes of The Repair Shop.

Thefemalekeithrichards · 04/10/2019 22:58

@dayslikethese1
Hopefully this will make you smile

The most tear jerking scenes in TV and film are...
Elbels · 04/10/2019 22:59

Paddington 2 with the aunt is the only time I've seen my boyfriend cry!

Agree with inside number 9 Sheridan episode

Has anyone said about time when his dad realises why he came back? Oh god even thinking about it makes me cry.

LoopyGremlin · 04/10/2019 23:00

@Puzzledandpissedoff
That scene in Schindler's List is one that has me every time. It’s a toss up between that and ET (even the music makes me well up) as my biggest tear jerker.

PrincessScarlett · 04/10/2019 23:02

Just re-watched the Fresh Prince scene on You Tube. Powerful stuff and making people cry decades later. No wonder Will Smith has gone on to be as famous as he is.

patchysmum · 04/10/2019 23:02

EastEnders when Kylie died .
Dr Who when David Tennant regenerates "I don't want to go"
Hachi such loyalty it broke my heart
