It's driving me crackers. Please can we stop ending posts with love hearts and kisses.

You aren't texting your Mum and frankly it's irrelevant and distracting!

It'll be sparkly banners and glittery white next.

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:00

It didn't.

lol

Let's have another go. [loveheart]

TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:01

pmsl hun ect.

How do you make a red heart appear?

TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:02

Ooooh.

So my trusty dinosaur of a laptop is incapable of producing this annoying emoji?

Must have a word with Microsoft or something hun xxx

LaMarschallin · 01/10/2019 00:03

It's been revamped LaMarscallin so everyone has left.

Ah!

It was a while ago, but that would explain the echoes when I stuck my nose round the door and tentatively called "Hello?" followed by "hello...ello...ello...lo...".
I felt very old out of place after reading the odd posts I did find.
Mind you, I think my daughters might have felt the same.

TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:03

I can do Gin without difficulty. Also Cake and Bike

MadameFoner · 01/10/2019 00:04

U ok hun? DM me if you need to talk 😂😂😂😂

WhatTiggersDoBest · 01/10/2019 00:05

@TheMustressMhor who needs heart emojis when there's a smiley of a bottle of gin? Gin

TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:05

I love the Bike symbol.

I can use to greatest effect when annoying people on threads about cyclists.

lol

TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:06

Well now, WhatTiggersDoBest, I have to agree.

When there's a choice of Cake and Gin and Bike who needs a fucking heart emoji anyway?

TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:08

Glitterball to the OP for starting such an absorbing thread.

LaMarschallin · 01/10/2019 00:10

I use phone emojis sometimes.

Especially if I want something a bit more full-on than a Smile.
Tend to use a 😀 on those (extremely rare) occasions.
The MN Grin looks like a scary yellow skull to me.

I could do 🔩 or 👃 but haven't an earthly why I'd want to.

Oops, sorry. Nearly forgot the 😘

TheMustressMhor · 01/10/2019 00:14

I am glad that you have such a wide choice of emojis LaMarschallin but sadly, as I do not possess a SmartPhone, I am not able myself to take advantage of this startling array of methods of expressing emotion.

Gin and Cake to you all.

TheMustress is off to beddy-byes. xxx

LaMarschallin · 01/10/2019 00:22

TheMustressMhor

Gin and Cake to you all

You don't need any other emojis, imo.

Night night Smile

Leftielefterson · 01/10/2019 00:46

Oh ffs not another one of these threads. Does it really annoy you that much OP? Does it really have the effect of distracting you entirely from a thread?

What’s wrong with a bit of PDA? Less of the repressive bollocks and let’s show more love I say. Live and let live. How people are getting scorned on here for being nice is frankly incredulous to me.

Ceefa2 · 01/10/2019 00:48

Can't say on here, inbox me hun xxx

Soola · 01/10/2019 01:43

@Leftielefterson I’m pained to say this but I agree with you Leftie!

The slagging off of another parenting site because they think they’re superior is rather sad.

OkPedro · 01/10/2019 01:52

My first post on MN having come from a non swearing Irish parenting site was not pleasant. I was berated for using lol and (I may have lost the run of myself) cunt
It was like the locals didn’t want newbies.
I never used NM
I have to say I’ve not noticed the hearts, kisses, hubbies and bubba’s on MN
What I hated was the “ Giving you an unmumsnetty hug” What was that about?!

Sux2buthen · 01/10/2019 02:04

Ah a post purely for running women down in a judgemental way. The funny thing is a lot of these posters will be on another post, probably in the feminism board, pretending they are supportive of all womenWink
Good ol' Mumsnet

Soola · 01/10/2019 02:07

@Sux2buthen I’ve reported the thread but Mumsnet likes the sheeple so no doubt they’ll let it stay.

Mumsnet used to be so much better years ago. It’s really gone downhill, not just with the type of posters it attracts now but the moderation is poor and biased.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 01/10/2019 02:16

@Sux2buthen oh, the irony of your post. Hmm

Posts like yours are precisely the honesty that disappears behind all the fake affection.

Personally I hope MN never becomes an echo chamber. I like the culture of the various boards just as they are.

ginginchinchin · 01/10/2019 07:15

Just having a try 👊

ginginchinchin · 01/10/2019 07:17

I'm disappointed my attempt worked - I much prefer old school MN emojis. 😭

Yabbers · 01/10/2019 07:50

behind all the fake affection.

Who says it is fake?

We see posts all the time about how terribly awful MN is, people are mean and cruel etc. That's fake too is it?

People can have genuine emotion when dealing with others on the internet, whether that be a positive or negative emotion. That you don't like it, doesn't make it fake.

This is the ultimate "mean girls" thread. Picking on people who have come here from another board. because you think your way is better. I'm sure if you keep on you'll soon get rid of the "nice" and can go back to complaining about how terrible people in MN are.

whatthehek · 01/10/2019 07:54

Why do people use the term hubby 🤮

Gives me instant rage.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 01/10/2019 08:14

People can have genuine emotion when dealing with others on the internet, whether that be a positive or negative emotion. That you don't like it, doesn't make it fake.

Of course they can. I even end posts with kisses occasionally - if I actually mean it. But ending every post with a kiss or sticking them in usernames makes them meaningless, doesn’t it?
