Just been to a tombola today I won 6 bags of sweets and a frisby.

I won the board game Frustration and the box was very battered. Opened it when I got home and it was missing the 'popper' and the dice.

KateK00 · 27/09/2019 16:58

A four pack of knickers.
My brother won a six pack of beer which is a great prize but he was 10 and only at the fair with school friends but was somehow allowed to take it home.

A large and horrific knitted clown that I thought would murder us in our sleep. DD then 3 instantly fell in love with it and named it Wooly Joe.
It was a not very sad day when he went in the washing machine and unravelled.

DS3 once begged to enter one of those guess the name of the manky giant teddy competitions. He was only about 3 and I really didn't want the teddy so encouraged him to pick the worst name on the list, Chubby.
He bloody well won. We had to carry the febreeze stinking thing home on the bus. Unlike Wooly Joe, Chubby survived the washing machine and is still a resident of the Notso household.

I won a Fireman Sam DOUBLE duvet set at the school fair tombola, why does such an item even exist? DH was in for sexy time that night! (not strictly true, we actually laughed at it and then sent it to the charity shop).

TheOnlySnot · 27/09/2019 17:09

I won some Bridget Jones style pants in a tombola at my local community centre once. Blush

Windydaysuponus · 27/09/2019 17:10

Notso - a pic needed I feel!!

libertyminty · 27/09/2019 17:15

A sun bleached tub of beef gravy granules.

redwoodmazza · 27/09/2019 17:23

A pack of 6 paper plates...

Watto1 · 27/09/2019 17:27

About 5 years ago I won a packet of red lentils. I think they are still in the cupboard.

Ahl134 · 27/09/2019 17:27

DS won hair straighteners in a raffle...he had a crew cut and everyone else's hair is poker straight in this house 😂

BlueEyedBengal · 27/09/2019 17:27

Hamper that included a whole chicken and full vegetable assortment and apple pie and custard and tea bags and wine. It was really yummy and only cost 50p!

WickedLemon · 27/09/2019 17:28

When my dd was 6 she won a tin of potatoes. She was fuming I found it hysterically funny

Howling at this, it’s really tickled me Grin

I don’t do tombola, because I can guarantee I’ll only win whatever shite I’ve donated!

Doormat247 · 27/09/2019 17:29

@SunshineDays2019 I also won a bottle of whiskey when I was about 7. They quite happily handed it over to me while I was alone at the stand. My great aunt insisted I swap her for her crap prize.

BearSoFair · 27/09/2019 17:29

2 bars of soap, shaped as letters D and P. In the family we have a J, H, P, and 2 L's...but DD's middle name starts with P and DS2's is a D so we made it work! Grin

BearSoFair · 27/09/2019 17:31

I made a mistake there, should say we have a J, H, N, and 2 L's!

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 27/09/2019 17:31

I won a giant chocolate teddy at a school fair once.

I missed the raffle draw so a member of staff kindly put it in a safe place for me to collect on Monday.

The safe place? A windowsill. In July.
On Monday I was presented with a chocolate puddle in a bag.

GloGirl · 27/09/2019 17:33

What felt like a 5 litre bottle of Tesco Value Sparkling Water. I had two very young children and a mile walk back home. I handed it straight back!

GloGirl · 27/09/2019 17:33

Oh I'm feeling really sad about the giant chocolate teddy!

SnugglySnerd · 27/09/2019 17:38

I'm laughing to myself at the Fireman Sam double duvet!

buttonz · 27/09/2019 17:39

Aged about thirteen, I won the "star prize" at a tombola - a huge bottle of white wine.

I was allowed the occasional glass of wine, so hoped to have a small tipple.

Not a chance.

My mother (who rarely drinks) inhaled most of it within two hours.

She was off her face and spent the next day throwing up 🤮.

CatherineVelindre · 27/09/2019 17:53

Catholic school fairs around 1980: a tin of Goblin brand beefburgers and a Pope plate.

SamBeckett · 27/09/2019 17:55

I went on a name card type raffle in a local pub and won the top prize a case of Stella.
I was about 8 ! Even my Ddad didn't want it he drank bitter. So he gave it to a friend the friend bought my Ddad beer all night and went to the paper shop a 15 min walk away and bought me 3 comics and 3 10p mixes .

I still think I got the best end of the deal.

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 27/09/2019 17:59

A friend won a patio set once...she live in a 3rd floor flat with no balcony so threw a table cloth over it and used it as dining furniture.

Osquito · 27/09/2019 18:02

A MASSIVE JAR of those tiny plastic golf tee things. I was aged about 7. My best friend’s mother saw what I’d won and said since her husband played golf, she’d like to swap with me, so I got her equally huge jar of sweets (which my own mother then promptly took off me and put far, far away in a high kitchen cupboard).

Familyband · 27/09/2019 18:06

My sister in law won a tandem.
