How many big spiders have you had this month?

I've just found 2 this evening and now feel really on edge. I hate seeing them and really don't like killing them. Just wondering how many other people have had them in the house this month.

OP posts:

I’ve noticed a lot of very large spiders. I don’t mind them but they are HUGE

YaySeptember · 27/09/2019 07:24

Loads! The other night I took 4 of them outside and one was almost too big for the tumbler! I haven't found one in my bed but one did fall off the wall and onto my lap when I was on the settee. I jumped a mile!

Doormat247 · 27/09/2019 07:38

I've lost track - there's so many and they're bloody huge.
Every morning I find battered ones that the cat has murdered but I know she's a bit lax so there'll be ten times more in hiding.

Whatthefunk · 27/09/2019 07:44

A huge beast, crawled over Ds and I, on the sofa, last night Shock Luckily our Jack Russell saved the day, by eating it Grin

Branleuse · 27/09/2019 07:48

None at all. Probably because i have 3 cats.

I quite like spiders

hidinginthenightgarden · 27/09/2019 08:03

We have had loads of those with little bodies and long legs. Probably up to 10.

Herocomplex · 27/09/2019 08:08

Aww, they’re just looking for love! They’re pretty big though.

Charley50 · 27/09/2019 08:10

Only two. One was a very fast mover. Don't kill spiders!

Charley50 · 27/09/2019 08:12

Mine were both bigger than average (as my ex used to say about his average penis) too.
Maybe giant spiders will take over when climate change destroys us.

Amazonfromkent · 27/09/2019 08:24

My first giant spider of the season this morning. It was enormous. Big, fat thing as big as my palm. I never kill them so decided to trap it. Had to grab a broom, get him gently off my kitchen wall, nearly passed out when it jumped, but still managed to get him under a pint glass and eventually throw it out the windiw. Still shaking. I hate them!!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/09/2019 08:35

One.

I don’t evict the cellar spiders though so I think they eat them. Or the cat does.

We’re a trap and release house anyway.

Shosha1 · 27/09/2019 08:36

Went out to the hot tub which is in a cabin in the garden at about 8 last night. Couldn't be arsed to go turn the outside light on as it's by the front door, so just used my phone light. Opened the cabin door and walked straight into a massive cobwebs. Spider then over my face! I think the whole street heard me scream

Adversecamber22 · 27/09/2019 09:27

Just one a few days ago.

It’s legs were almost touching the lip of the pint glass I caught it in. It was very solid looking and unusually huge. It got put out the front door.

1wokeuplikethis · 27/09/2019 09:37

Loads here too, but I have one that I’m probably going to ring the Daily Mail about and do a sad face story because he is basically stalking us. There was a giant hairy bugger just sat in the (empty) potty yesterday!

Whilst I don’t like them and prefer to Chuck them out the window than ever kill them, this one spider is really taking the piss and clearly read up on squatters rights: I’ve thrown the same one out about 3 times and he keeps coming back. Know he is the same one as he has 7 legs.

They really just don’t give a shit though do they, all like, this is my house now you knobs. Well, not on my watch Seven Legs. Off you go, get a job, bloody sponger.

Em012 · 27/09/2019 09:42

Atleast 10 to 20 .. area backs onto the countryside and the buggars are everywhere🕷

EntirelyAnonymised · 27/09/2019 09:45

Loads of the big brown speckly bodied ones in the garden, none in the house. Quite a few spindly big ones (like crane flies without wings) in the house. The cat eats them Hmm

Coldhandscoldheart · 27/09/2019 09:46

Not so many actually in the house, but I’ll admit I’m avoiding the shed which has a huge number of the biggest spiders I’ve ever seen, they’re like mice! And all on the ceiling, so could drop in your head.
I know that at some point I have to go out there & tidy it up...

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/09/2019 09:51

Indoors only a couple, but I couldn't hang my washing out the other day because the whole line, all the plants and even DD's slide were covered in webs. Spiders ranging from 5p to 50p size.
I left them to it and put the tumble dryer on.

The front garden is the same. They often built them across the path or front door. Usually at face height!

flingingmelon · 27/09/2019 10:00

I've got enough for a small spider festival (live in the country).

DS likes to catch them and look at them. Being the catcher has massively improved my fear of them, although I still wouldn't touch one.

Buyitinbamboo · 27/09/2019 10:09

None, I use no more spider spray around the doors and windows (do about once a month) as well as dotting some conkers round.

CandlesAreHere · 27/09/2019 12:01

We’ve had 5 really big ones since last weekend. For some reason they seem to congregate in the utility room sink. I don’t mind spiders, but I’m not brave enough to catch and handle the big ones, so I provide a ‘ladder’ to help them escape.
I’ve just put the ladder in for the current ‘trappee’ 😀 - hopefully he’ll be gone by the time I go in there again.
We had a little one in bed with us the other night - DH almost fell out when I pointed it out to him 😂

FreshwaterBay · 27/09/2019 12:20

More than orgasms but that's normal.

Heyboyo · 27/09/2019 12:25

None

Therewere5inthebed · 27/09/2019 12:43

99problemsandjust1appt · 27/09/2019 12:46
