Job that earns £150 a day?

Wagesnages · 26/09/2019 11:04

Just really...I am thinking of moving back to the uk and in my current job I earn (170+euros a day) so that is approx 150 pounds! And by day I mean I 9-5 at the most! Current hours are 9-4(latest)
What kind of jobs/positions In the uk would I need to get to have the same earning potential??
Not stating what I do as I am open to changing, I don’t actually think my job in the I’m would earn the same. Thank you

I have hired former teachers into junior PM at my investment bank on 50-60k. In Manchester. Former teachers often have exceptional leadership and communication skills - ideal for junior project roles.

HappyHammy · 26/09/2019 12:45

Private tutor. Gardener. Decorator. Supply work.

BikeRunSki · 26/09/2019 12:46

Quantity surveying and project management spring to mind, but not at entry level.

Adversecamber22 · 26/09/2019 12:46

What subject is your degree actually in?

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 26/09/2019 12:48

Statistician in pharma industry. It's strictly 37.5 hours a week and very family friendly.

However it's literally the dullest job ON EARTH and you need a MSc in Stats, you'll start on 30k-ish and climb up to 55 in about 5 years.

Bluesheep8 · 26/09/2019 13:18

55k is more than twice the average HOUSEHOLD wage isn't it?

Drabarni · 26/09/2019 13:25

You'll get about half of that for an admin job up here.
That would be for someone very experienced, and qualified.

Wagesnages · 26/09/2019 13:28

@BarbaraofSeville after tax

My degree is in law and then I did teaching
I am on €54k approx.

Did you take your degree any further? Or go straight into teaching? Law is very transferable - options with the level of pay you’re looking for could include senior governance and company secretarial roles in e.g. a large charity, medium-large housing association, the finance sector, civil service etc. But it’s the lack of experience I think you’ll struggle with.

Would you consider contracting?

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 26/09/2019 13:37

I’m on 60k in digital marketing in London but you wouldn’t get that on entry.

Teaching law perhaps? There’s a number of post grad training colleges in London.

Teddybear45 · 26/09/2019 13:40

Try a governance analyst type role. Corporate governance in big companies is usually managed, at the junior level, by law grads who didn’t go into law for whatever reason.

MotherWol · 26/09/2019 13:49

That's a grade 8/9 role in higher education, so for a non-academic post you're looking at senior office manager, senior professional services (e.g. HR, finance, communications) roles. They're usually dependent on experience and knowledge of the sector.

zebra22 · 26/09/2019 13:59

I think you are going to struggle to get that in the north of London with the experience you have

I’m an accountant and earn more than that but have 25 years experience

LaurieFairyCake · 26/09/2019 14:00

Dh is a deputy head in London on £72k

Definitely not 9-5 Grin

Hoppinggreen · 26/09/2019 14:03

I’m a Relocation Agent, my daily rate is more than that even after tax etc. But I am Freelance so the work isn’t guaranteed

NumberblockNo1 · 26/09/2019 14:03

Where on earth are you that you earn the equivalent of a deputy head, 9-4 , as a teacher!? I want to move...

I think there's no chance of walking into a 55k job to be fair. More like 20k

Wagesnages · 26/09/2019 15:23

@ComtesseDeSpair no I did a small summer stint at a family firm but didn’t love it, so I did my teaching.

@NumberblockNo1 Ireland (and that’s no extra responsibilities)

QueenOfWinterfell · 26/09/2019 15:33

Wages are very low on the whole in the NW and if you want to earn more than £20k you’re going to have to put in a lot of hours. 8-7pm at least I should think

Wagesnages · 26/09/2019 15:44

@QueenOfWinterfell would Manchester and surrounding areas be the same?

OP posts:
ILikeyourHairyHands · 26/09/2019 15:48

Project manager, you'd need some additional training but contractors earn plently more than £150 a day.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 26/09/2019 15:50

Plenty of jobs earn 20+ without having to work in silly hours. Loads round manchester. As PP said, business dev/tech sales saw one the otuer week in Manchester for 25k basic OTE 60k in year one, you'd need to be the right type for a sales role though!

kjhkj · 26/09/2019 15:55

What an odd thread. There aren't many jobs you can walk into with no experience that pay £55k. And finding one where you can 9-5 it is even less likely.

theoriginaltms · 26/09/2019 16:00

@Breastfeedingworries where do I sign up I'll be a webcam girl for £150+ per day😂

Wagesnages · 26/09/2019 16:01

@kjhkj how is it odd?? It’s a question pure and simple??

OP posts:
LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 26/09/2019 16:03

I don't think you'll be able to walk into a £55k a year job without retraining tbh. Nothing will pay you that at entry level, and certainly not for 9-5.
