Help me settle a debate (about crumble)

Just had some crumble I made earlier. Wed run out of custard so had it with vanilla ice cream. DP asked why bowl was hot. His theory is, if it's served with ice cream, it should be cold, but hot crumble with hot custard.

In my -correct-- opinion, crumble should ALWAYS be hot, regardless of its accompaniment. Who's right?

Also, should crumble be served with custard, ice cream or cream?

Crumble should be -
Served hot (fine to eat leftovers cold obvs).
In cold bowl.
With plain yoghurt or ice cream.
Best with nothing at all so long as fruit has plenty of juice.
For me never with custard or cream - when mixed with the acid in the fruit those two kind of set my teeth on edge like metal on a filling.

Hot crumble with ice cream is delicious. Crumble is delicious at any temp though, but hit with ice cream is awesome.

Crumble is ALWAYS hot and can be served with custard, cream, whipped day old custard and cream cold, ice cream.

But never cold custard. That's for heathens.

Crumble always hot with hot custard or ice cream.

Hot crumble & with custard = hot bowl, but if I'm serving it with cream or ice cream then I don't warm the bowls.

I like hot crumble with hot custard but cold crumble with hot custard is amazing so is cold apple pie with hot custard

Crumble must be served hot (but can of course be eaten cold straight out of the fridge later, in which state it contains no calories as these will have evaporated in the heat)

It should be served with a choice of hot custard, cold custard, cream and ice cream. Judgement shall be loudly passed on the combinations and permutations of the above.

Obviously if it’s eaten with ice cream it has to be consumed quickly before the ice cream melts, so second helpings are obligatory.

This. I also make custard ice-cream with ready-made custard, cream & condensed milk. It'll never feature in a healthy eating book but is excellent with crumble or apple pie.

I don't like hot pudding with hot custard.
Hot crumble with cold custard or cold crumble with hot custard.
Only homemade or the fresh premade stuff. Birds powdery weirdness or that gloopy canned/carton one can bog off.

However I don't like hot crumble with ice cream the ice cream just melts it's pointless. So cold crumble with ice cream.

In my first job we had a subsidised canteen, it was the custom to have both hot custard and a little block of icecream on crumble.

It was slightly orgasmic........

I like any combination. Hot crumble with hot custard. Hot crumble with cold custard. Cold crumble with hot custard. Cold crumble with cream. Hot crumble with cream. Hot crumble with ice cream. Cold crumble with ice cream. I just like crumble.

Another one who favours hot crumble with a chilled accompaniment. Preferably cold custard. (Sorry @LolaSmiles, I'll just shuffle off back to my cave . With my bowl of crumbly goodness mind you)

Crumble should be hot. Although you can eat it cold when leftover out of the bowl without reheating it 😄

I know it’s not AIBU but YABVVVU because now I want crumble. And pie. AND ice cream and custard.

Hot as a pudding.

Cold as leftovers for breakfast.
