The Conservatives will win with a significant majority.

You heard it here first.

I actually didn't but thanks for that!

Incandescentwithage · 24/09/2019 13:17

Bring it on. It's the only way to hopefully sort this shot shower out.

tectonicplates · 24/09/2019 13:19

When will the election be, and how do you know who's going to win?

HappyHammy · 24/09/2019 13:20

How do you know. Do you have insider info.

CornishMaid1 · 24/09/2019 13:25

Even if there is, I am not sure they will.

A GE is not the best idea - to break a deadlock on Brexit needs a vote on Brexit not a GE, where people vote on party lines, for other policies etc.

At the last one Conservatives made it all about Brexit with silly extra policies (like bringing back fox hunting) and Labour campaigned on policies not Brexit. Conservatives lost their lead.

Even if everyone just votes for a party based on Brexit, Labour has no policy (apparently they will decide on their Brexit policy after the GE), the leave vote may get split between the Brexit Party and Conservatives. A lot of remainers may head for LibDem and possibly Greens and as the country is so split we are likely to then end up with a hung parliament with no clear winners as the country is so divided.

OctonautsHoliday · 24/09/2019 13:35

I agree with @CornishMaid1. A referendum of Remain versus a clear leave option (whether that's a deal or not, but a decided way forward either way) is the only solution imho.

Incandescentwithage · 24/09/2019 14:39

If remain scrape through do we go for best of 3.

ticking · 24/09/2019 14:40

@BertrandRussell yes I agree....

SingingLily · 24/09/2019 14:41

A general election would be a second referendum in all but name, and at least we might have a working government afterwards. I hope.

Baguetteaboutit · 24/09/2019 14:45

Yeah, I think that's a reasonable prediction. I wish Labour would sort themselves out

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/09/2019 14:48

Whoever gets in will still be on the same roundabout they've been trying to get off for the last 3 years

NO PARTY will be able to find a solution that will be acceptable to parliament and the electorate.

It's not an issue of who voted what, who was lied, who is thick as shit, it is just that the absolute divisiveness of the whole bloody thing is insurmountable.

However you voted the current reality is that parliament, as a whole, has utterly fucked UK politics, shredded our democracy and IS STILL trying to pretend that any of the parties is credible.

We don't need a GE, unless we are all going to use it to tell our paid representatives that they are fired!

SingingLily · 24/09/2019 14:53

I can't disagree with you, CuriousAboutSamphire, but from what I can see, there are an awful lot of MPs who are fighting shy of facing up to the electorate. The ones who have changed parties faster than they changed socks, particularly serial changers, really should be made to stand and face the ballot box.

JacquesHammer · 24/09/2019 15:02

You heard it here first

Um...have you been watching the news in recent weeks. You're definitely not the first to suggest anything of the sort.

Are you feeling quite well Bert - your posts get odder and odder.

HappyHammy · 24/09/2019 15:05

Will we have the option to vote for no deal brexit on any ballot paper or will they just stick to leave or remain.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/09/2019 15:14

@Singing then we agree 100%, just worded it differently Smile

VenusClapTrap · 24/09/2019 16:02

I think anything could happen. Anything. I have been nothing short of amazed at what has gone on over the last few years, so nothing would surprise me now.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/09/2019 08:51

Will we have the option to vote for no deal brexit on any ballot paper or will they just stick to leave or remain. Sssshh! Thats what caused the last No Vote... they couldn't agree how many choices we Plebs would get, or how to word it so we would choose the right answer!

SingingLily · 25/09/2019 12:14

they couldn't agree how many choices we Plebs would get, or how to word it so we would choose the right answer!

And there you put your finger on it, Curious. They just can't trust us Plebs to make the "right" decision. That must be why they won't let us have a GE. It's for our own good and no doubt they are utterly convinced we will thank them later when we've been sufficiently re-educated.

I wouldn't pay the vast majority of them in bent washers.

BertrandRussell · 25/09/2019 13:15

I suppose the best possible solution would be a GE to establish a mandate, followed swiftly by a referendum offering a choice between whatever deal has been arranged and revoking Article 50.

OP posts:
wowfudge · 25/09/2019 13:35

I can live with that.

SingingLily · 25/09/2019 13:44

I couldn't. We've already decided the Leave/Remain question. In any case, a GE would - in effect - act as a second referendum.

Those who wish to revoke Article 50 can vote LibDem.
Those who want to leave the EU can vote Conservative.
Those who don't know what they want can vote Labour.

Seems pretty clear to me.

SconeofDestiny · 25/09/2019 14:26

Nope, it needs to be a 2nd referendum asking if we want to leave and accept No Deal or revoke Article 50.

The Tories have caused this mess entirely due to incompetence and ineptitude so why should the other parties (and Independents) be required to clean up after them?

Fuck the Tories!

BanKittenHeels · 25/09/2019 14:40

I always liked Mystic Meg, she rocked a bob.

ForalltheSaints · 25/09/2019 15:28

I think it will be a hung Parliament again. Just hope the people of Uxbridge and South Ruislip see sense and get rid of their MP, the worst Prime Minister of all time.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/09/2019 15:33

I suppose the best possible solution would be a GE to establish a mandate, followed swiftly by a referendum offering a choice between whatever deal has been arranged and revoking Article 50 No!

Parliament wont accept The Deal
They have made No Deal illegal and the EU won't offer ANother Deal

What they have done is made it impossible to leave without a worse deal than being in, sowe shall obvuously remain in. Thus circumventing the original decision.

THAT IS NOT DEMOCARCY and ALL politicians have colluded in fucking us all over. It doens't matter HOW you voted, you have had your democracy stolen! ALL PARTIES are equally guilty in this (OK, one more equally than the others!).

That you voted Remain and can accept that is not how democracy works
That you voted Leave and have now had your vote ignored is not howu democracy works.

If there is to be a 2nd referendum it must include that 'illegal' choice: No Deal; The Deal or Revoke!
