I think throughout all the series there's evidence that Roy is attracted to Jen and vice versa, but they never quite get it together. DH isn't so sure. Which one of us is right?

I love Black Books too - and Green Wing.

motorcyclenumptiness · 27/09/2019 17:40

I love this scene - brilliantly written and brilliantly performed

CaptainMyCaptain · 27/09/2019 17:46

The whole script is brilliant, a random comment early on always turns out to be really important later.

Oh and that song in the theater one got stuck in my head "I love willies"

Could you keep it down, please.

Grin Grin Grin

The theatre episode has just finished on 4Music.

"A gay musical.... called.... GAY!"

neonglow · 28/09/2019 00:52

Where’s my heat?

MissLadyM · 28/09/2019 01:14

No way! Jen was a bit of a mess but would NEVER have looked at Roy in a romantic way. She was fond of him & Moss but not in THAT way! Roy probably fancied all women but I got a brother/sister vibe. It was wonderful writing. The first episode I saw was the 'Gay' theatre episode and I roared. Fabulous programme. Fatheeeeer!

Furries · 28/09/2019 02:42

I’ve never watched it, so really can’t remember where I came across the scene (and the one leading up to it) which is at the funeral:

“I’m sorry for your loss, now move on”

I have no idea of the back stories or anything else, but I saw that one clip some time ago and it’s just stuck with me!

motorcyclenumptiness · 28/09/2019 05:19

The theatre episode is ace - love Jen yelling 'Taxi!' The Countdown episode is inspired - Good morning. That's a nice tnetennbaGrin

Fruityb · 28/09/2019 08:09

I always find watching when Jen’s fringe is doing quite amusing. Her hair tends to be a little crazy at times!

She shouts taxi in every episode that season I think.

“I’m Peter File!”

When Denholm just walks out of the window as well it just cracks me up!

And Douglas’ exercise class!

I’m watching this later lol

Wurzelsnewhead · 28/09/2019 08:32

No and only one thing to say about it:
“Is that shit on your forehead?“ 🤣😂🤣

BrieAndChilli · 28/09/2019 08:39

We’ve been rewatching these and watched the one where Roy uses the disabled toilet and then pretends to be disabled to get out of it.
Couple of days later we go away and say at a hotel. DH and DS1 are put in an ‘accessible’ room and DH accidentally pulls the red string alarm thing / he said after words it did flash through his kind that he would have to lay in the floor and pretend to be disabled!!

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/09/2019 08:54

I also love the one where Roy becomes a homeless down and out through a series of improbable events because Jen goes out for two hours to an interview.

neonglow · 28/09/2019 09:40

Good morning that’s a nice tnetennba

iklboo · 28/09/2019 10:18

It's chocolate!

AmIChangingagain · 28/09/2019 10:20

Great to see so much live for this

DD (who actually is) often says "I'm disabled" in Roy's voice whenever we park or use an accessible toilet.

She says it to me, I mean Grin

I find Matt Berry strangely attractive in this too Blush

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/09/2019 11:01

The one low point for me in an otherwise 100% outstanding show was the 'pun' where Roy's new date described him as 'being on the autistic spectrum' and he was really chuffed, because he thought she'd said 'artistic'

As if being autistic was supposed to be an insult and a great personal character flaw.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/09/2019 11:03

"They tell me that it's an outstanding department - it's run by a go-getter, a genius and.... a man from Ireland!"

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/09/2019 11:09

"Are you doing a wee-wee walk?"

The look on Jen's face as she's determined to fit into the fabulous shoes that are several sizes too small.

Emailing the fire brigade.

"And finallly, let's hear it for.... the toilet cleaners!"
"To be fair, Roy, they do an amazing job. Have you seen how clean the toilets are on twelfth? I've started deliberately not going at home and saving it all up for when I'm here!"

"This calendar is in aid of me.... and I hate it!"
"Boxfressssh!!!"

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/09/2019 11:11

"What is it, Jen? What's the problem?"

"Well, it's just that.... you look like a magician!"

"I see. Would it help if I trained and actually became a magician?"

"Maybe...."

HippyChickMama · 28/09/2019 16:35

I love the dinner party "act normal, no more normal, more normal!" and "Do you have absinthe? I only drink absinthe"
"Absinthe, no. Red wine, white wine, Carlsberg?" "Carlsberg, perfect"

Soola · 28/09/2019 16:47

Judy! Great character and I bet they had a good laugh with her scenes -

BeanBag7 · 28/09/2019 16:55

I never go that vibe, but I'm terrible at picking up on that sort of thing. I didnt realise when two of my work colleagues were in a relationship, apparently it was blindingly obvious to everyone else!

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/09/2019 08:07

I had this actual conversation with DH yesterday:

Him - The laptop won't start.
Me - Have you pressed the button?
Him - Yes, it still won't work.
Me - Is there a little light on it?
Him - No, it's broken.
Me - Plug it in … does it start now?
Him - Yes.

I could get a job at Reynholm.
