I said something mortifying in this interview, no chance of the job now is there?!

I went in today for a role I can work alongside my current studies. It was a lovely company and a friendly atmosphere.

The interview went well and I felt pleased with myself. Until a set of employees came into view and made me say something awful.

The woman was opening a gift someone has just given her... Her grin was huge! My would be boss said "Ahh, she does look happy! What a picture".

I said "Yes! She looks like the cat who licked the flaps!"

What I really meant was the cat who got the cream Blush It came out all wrong. The boss looked a bit stumbled and then patted me on the back to follow the other person who'd interviewed me back to the entrance.

I'm mortified. I've no idea how it came out in such a way. It's horrendous. Since having my DC I've often stumbled on words and used the wrong phrase but normally just in the wrong order.

I could've crawled into a hole and stayed. No chance of that job now, is there?

This happened yesterday late afternoon. They were letting people know Monday.

Keeping it classy @hellocanyouhearme 😉

Good luck op. I'm sure you won't lose the job over this if it's meant for you. Hope you get some good news tomorrow

autumndreaming · 22/09/2019 13:35

If I was interviewing you I would certainly remember you Grin but not in a bad way. If she has a good sense of humour it won't affect the outcome!

KUGA · 22/09/2019 14:00

OMG I can`t stop laughing.
Oh to be a fly on his wall when he repeats that to someone.
I hope you get the job and keep us posted on your next blooper.

ThatCurlyGirl · 22/09/2019 16:41

I saw a cat today (it was doing absolutely nothing interesting) and got a fit of giggles because of this thread 😂

Redshoesandtheblues · 22/09/2019 18:15

Aww, Op, that made me laugh. But with cats, my mind immediately went to catflaps.

And it's easy done to get phrases mangled up. Hopefully, it gave them a laugh after a long morning interviewing.

I once said ' like a horse that has two bollocks'.

Redshoesandtheblues · 22/09/2019 18:19

Meant to add, OP, its word association in your mind that is coming to play.

Bet you're great at those games!!

Cream!
Cat!
Flap!

You just missed out the cream.

SandAndSea · 22/09/2019 18:25
