Suspected infection, unsure where.

Rang 999 after he was hard to wake and sensitive to light this afternoon. Blue lights came, temp of 39.5, low oxygen. Ambulance to hospital with oxygen mask etc.
Poor dh forgot the formula and bottle so has to drive home again to get it. He was just stressed and feels bad now.
We are awaiting assessment in emergency dept, DS is drifting in and out.
Anyone about for a handhold? I'm scared

Hand hold here- been through it too, never been through such a scary time. They never got to the bottom of what was up but we spent 2 nights in hospital with our dd. She was so unresponsive at the drs they put on an oxygen mask and called an ambulance. They never did work out what was wrong but to this day 2 years later I still freak out at chest infections etc as they think it was quite a nasty one of those.

Good luck op- sending a massive handhold x

mummatoJ · 19/09/2019 20:04

Really hope everything is ok. Can't imagine how terrifying it must be for you all. At least you're in the hospital now and hope they look after you well xx

Another hand holder here. Cannot imagine how you feel at the moment. Be strong x

DorothyBastard · 19/09/2019 20:15

I’m holding your hand. You can do this. I’ve been where you are and I was shocked by the reserves of strength I had to cope. You can be strong ❤️

NatashaRomanov · 19/09/2019 20:15

Hope your boy gets better soon.

Another handhold op. You've got this-be your baby's voice. Don't be scared to make a fuss

Who ever you are with - focus on supporting each other. Put your phone away. Really. This is the time for real life human interaction. Not from an anonymous chat forum

It's terrifying when they go downhill so fast. I was actually at a GP appointment for myself and had my little boy with me who was a little under the weather. He literally became unresponsive on my lap during the appointment and we were sent straight to A&E. It was yet another dose of tonsillitis and he was fine, and now seems to have grown out of it. I hope your boy picks up quickly. Hand hold from me too.

MollyHuaCha · 19/09/2019 20:21

Hope he's much better very soon.

mindutopia · 19/09/2019 20:22

Just want to say keep pushing them, but my ds had exactly this last week. Fine and then very sudden fever (39.9) and then had a febrile seizure (which was awful) and became very drowsy and impossible to keep awake after. We spent the night on the paediatric ward (be prepared to stay the night). They similarly had no idea where the infection was as he didn’t seem to have a cold or a cough or any other symptoms other than that. We were eventually told it was sixth disease, which is just a nasty virus they all get. He was only really ill for about 12 hours but fever lasted about 48, then fine. He got the rash a few days later. I was really concerned it was meningitis, because it happened so fast, but he was fine. Drs said it’s going around right now. Hope it’s nothing more than that and he’s feeling better again soon.

tvdinnertracks · 19/09/2019 20:22

@lovemenorca that's harsh. Maybe op isn't with anyone else or they aren't being supportive.

There are other threads to be judgy and make someone feel like shit on, this really isn't the one.

LookImAHooman · 19/09/2019 20:25

Sending lots of love and crossing everything, OP Flowers Brew

lovemenorca hush your mouth. She can get support wherever she damn well wants it.

ColdToesHere · 19/09/2019 20:27

Good luck lovely.
If they take bloods, which sound like they will, you’ll be in for 48 hours as they wait for tests/cultures to develop.
I’d imagine they’ll do a lumbar puncture too if he’s that drowsy. Just hold his hand and keep whispering to him (if they let you stay- depends on the hospital)
I’m not a medic, have just had rotten luck with my two DS (one a preemie, one full term that got meningitis at 6 weeks)

SAA1519 · 19/09/2019 20:27

Hand hold here. Don't be afraid to ask second opinion if your not sure on anything, or don't think it's right. Hope he is ok and you get home soon. 💐

Millie2013 · 19/09/2019 20:29

There’s always one 🙄🙄🙄

Post away OP, sending lots of love for you and your little one Flowers

Tooner · 19/09/2019 20:30

God love him poor little baby, hope they can get to the bottom of it very soon.

Greeni · 19/09/2019 20:33

Lovemenorca chances are op and partner have never been through this before, it helps to hear others have gone through it and what to expect. Others need people to pray or keep them in their thoughts. Sometimes people just need to know they’re not on their own.
Whatever the reason, the op should feel able to post whenever she wants.

Ivysaurus · 19/09/2019 20:36

Hoping for answers soon for your little boy, hopefully they'll get him what he needs asap to get him on the mend. Can't imagine how worried you must be, try and stay strong
