Do people still really think this kind of shit?

Well obviously some do. A female friend of mine posted this on FB.

I KNOW it's only a meme, but the amount of women commenting on it agreeing is unbelievable. I've had 4 'angry' faces to my 'what a load of bollocks' comment. Grin

So there you have it - you're only a real woman if you don't wear nail varnish and never brush your hair. If you do, you're clearly doing it wrong.

It's Jealousy. Pure jealousy

HeadLikeAFuckinOrange · 18/09/2019 20:06

This is up there with "Real men like curves....only a dog wants a bone" Hmm

It's self-appraisal to feel better about themselves. Which is fine, but not when it's at other people's expense.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 18/09/2019 20:07

Load of shit

ProhibitedRodent · 18/09/2019 20:08

I don't completely agree with it, but the underlying sentiment has elements of truth to it - SOMETIMES. After all, there are women out there who have little to no interest in their kids - visibly & often admittedly, in the case of a young mum at my DD's school - and spend their spare money on fake nails, lashes, extensions & tans etc.

Flame me all you like but women like this DO exist, sadly.

Like those clowns who gave up nightclubs to stay in and watch Disney films. My DS is 10 barely watches TV and hates Disney, plus I love a night out, makes me sick.

Plus the I could never leave my child with a stranger, drops said child to a school with a stranger 6 hours a day,5 days a week, idiots.

MisunderstoodMaleficent · 18/09/2019 20:13

A lot of people feel like the best way to make themselves feel good is to put others down. It’s really sad. All women are ‘real women’ and some women choose to spend their time and energy doing their hair/nails/makeup and some don’t. Some choose to spend their time and energy gardening/crafting/reading and some don’t.

If they were really ‘putting their kids first’ they wouldn’t model that behaviour or attitude for their kids to learn.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 18/09/2019 20:17

Pay attention to the women who aren’t posting shitty memes on Facebook. These are the real women - the ones who can actually think critically and intelligently for themselves.

Facebook is classic for this performance parenting!! Who can be the 'most devoted Mother'
DH's DSIS was like this. Posting that she is dreading DS going to nursery, because he's "never had a night away from her" and the idea he'll be away a whole 6 hours a day makes her wonder how he'll cope.

He did fine with us for 4 days when she went on a Hen Weekend, and has coped admirably when she's had a night out and stayed with MIL.

People use FB to lie to themselves, never mind others!

KatharinaRosalie · 18/09/2019 20:25

Ah but is your house also a mess because you're making memories? Is it, Karen??

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 18/09/2019 20:29

Why are you letting this shit get to you?

TinyMystery · 18/09/2019 20:36

Actually, I accidentally died my hair a very unfortunate shade of brassy blonde/orange today. Does that make me an extra good mum?

Dieu · 18/09/2019 20:46

How fucking awful. You DO in fact get slovenly looking women who are shit mothers, and immaculately turned out women who are fab mums.
Just because you're dowdy, it doesn't mean you're good!

Propertyofhood · 18/09/2019 20:50

This sort of thing attracts The Huns like flies round shit.

fia101 · 18/09/2019 20:54

And THAT is why I'm no longer on facebooks. Christ on a bike the sh*t people write and think about themselves - self praise and inflated egos.

ragged · 18/09/2019 20:57

It's attention seeking. I don't have to have an opinion about it.

BenWillbondsPants · 18/09/2019 21:09

You missed that apparently only mothers are ‘real women’

Oops, yes, only those that reproduce are real women, how could I forget?

I don't need to unfollow said friend, she has unfriended me anyway now that I said that I thought that was all a load of shite. Grin

Why are you letting this shit get to you?

Well, I can't say I'll be losing any sleep over it, but I think it should get to you and I have no issue with saying that I think it's bollocks.

Nope, those women are the ones who have jobs and need to look presentable for work. And therefore can pay their phone bills. Grin

BeepBeeep · 18/09/2019 21:14

I must be the perfect mother then, being as my hair looks like it's been in a wind tunnel, I don't wear nail polish and my face wears wrinkles rather than make up.
What complete bollocks.

bbciii · 18/09/2019 21:27

Well, I'm a total failure then because I had a blow dry 2 days ago, my nails are painted pink, and I'm typing this on an iPhone 8.

Shit mum!

ImogenTubbs · 18/09/2019 22:21

I've recently had my nails done but my hair is a right state. I'm confused - am I a real mum/woman or not?

FaFoutis · 18/09/2019 22:25

Why 'pay attention'? Are the real women going to do something interesting?

acatcalledjohn · 19/09/2019 08:03

I have a fanjo.

Surely that counts for something?

MarthasGinYard · 19/09/2019 08:08

'It's bollocks for the hard of thinking.'
