Almost instant nausea
Cold sweat
Feels like a drug high
Anyone else had this?
Will it go?
It’s awful

NoIsACompleteAnswerSometimes · 18/09/2019 07:54

I was prescribed it some years ago, as it had been noted that it helped with menopausal night sweats. (Mine were dreadful)

I took it for about a month(?). I found it really reduced my appetite, as in I physically couldn't eat the amount I usually did. It also made me horrendously constipated. And it never helped the night sweats at all! I had the spaced out feeling, and stopped taking them as I was feeling so ill. I reduced the dose gradually over a few days but I felt really ill when I stopped it for quite a while.

My jaw is so tight
I cant relax
What happened to old fashioned Valium ?

OP posts:
LHReturns · 18/09/2019 10:31

That reminds me - dunno if they do it anymore but some people used to take half a Valium for the first week to assist with the early side effects.

I definitely fall into the category of please keep going - you are are Day 2. Imagine the chemicals in your brain are going crazy with surprise right now....in a few days they will calm down and reset at a much happier level. Give it a chance.

tomboytown · 18/09/2019 16:41

Tablet no. 2
Bit less of a reaction than yesterday
Banging headache though
And my eyes look like they’re on stalks!

Beaniebeemer · 18/09/2019 19:14

I’ve been on it for about 4 months now. It’s definitely stabilised me but the early days on it were utter horrific. It took me a long time to settle on it and I went through all the side effects again when my dose went up. I remember not being able to sleep on it, losing my appetite which is totally unheard for for me. It will get easier but it might take a while. PM if you want to talk.

tomboytown · 19/09/2019 23:00

I really cannot see how this drug deals with anxiety and depression if it actually hypes you up this much
It’s like pure amphetamine

OP - will you do 7 days - please? (My first 7 days were spent rocking back and forth on the sofa with a clenched jaw etc. ) You are half way there. If you stop - you already know what will happen (back to where you were, and a good bit worse for first few days as you have thrown this into the mix). But what if it works? Isn't it worth just checking that out? You know you are in the worst of the start up effects - rationally you know this. Rationally you know you are meant to be feeling much worse before you start to feel better...much much better.

DMCWelshcakes · 20/09/2019 07:31

I've been on it twice. The initial week or two was a bit bumpy but I did feel much better after that.

Good luck OP & do whatever you need to get you through the first few days.

ClownsandCowboys · 20/09/2019 07:37

I've been on it for 7 years now. It's awful to start with, but for me it subsides after a few days. Make sure you take it in the morning, if I take it later it effects my sleep.

The worst thing for me is the constipation, I've been taking movicol with it for years to help.

I hate it, but it works. Better than anything else.

combatbarbie · 20/09/2019 08:09

How you getting on OP, when are you taking it? I was taking it at night but quickly switched to morning due to the insomnia symptoms, worked fine. First 10 days are the worst, after that you should notice a difference in your original symptoms.

tomboytown · 20/09/2019 10:06

Well at least the headache has subsided
I’m taking it at lunchtime as that’s my biggest meal and the first day when I took it without food I felt so sick.

Bit of a strange one- last night I was trying to remember what we’d done the night before and I just couldn’t remember. It was only in relation to a tv show we were watching, but I couldn’t remember if we watched it, what time we went to bed, if ds went to bedtime on time. It was v strange
I am feeling a little bit calmer
My eyes still feel like they’re on stalks, i had to do a parents thing last night
I’m supposed to be going out tonight, daren’t have alcohol.

thinkingcapon · 20/09/2019 12:47

It's at least a 10 day thing with me before the good outweighed the bad

Please try another week x

WhoWants2Know · 20/09/2019 21:57

Absolute lifesaver for me, but the slow release is much better. But for the love of god, don't forget to take them or stop suddenly.

WeldMeDaphne · 20/09/2019 22:25

@Chesntoots me too 😕 18 years on. Absolutely the worst AD I ever took.

tomboytown · 23/09/2019 10:02

Day 7
Wouldn’t say I’m feeling better, but definitely a bit more normal
I have a Fitbit and I’ve noticed my heart rate is lower, is that normal ?

OP posts:
tomboytown · 29/09/2019 13:06

Apathy
Does this go?
I can’t be arsed to do anything
If left to my own devices I would just stay in and watch tv

OP posts:
tomboytown · 10/10/2019 18:12

So just put my request in for repeat prescription but really not sure.
Jaw still all tense and v dry mouth
And not much benefit
The horrible original side effects ok now though

OP posts:
thinkingcapon · 10/10/2019 18:43

What dose are you on?
Is it tablet or modified release capsule? X

tomboytown · 10/10/2019 21:52

70mg
Tablet

OP posts:
thinkingcapon · 11/10/2019 03:22

75mg no? Tablets did nothing for me......modified release capsule was a life changer...........stick in x

tomboytown · 30/10/2019 08:44

6 weeks into this
Was going to the gp this week to say it’s not working
Missed a dose by accident yesterday and I have the headache from hell
Hardly slept last night with horrible nightmares
Oh god make it stop please

OP posts:
DMCWelshcakes · 30/10/2019 09:48

Are you on the modified release?

tomboytown · 30/10/2019 10:08

No
Just tablets

OP posts:
thinkingcapon · 30/10/2019 15:23

A lot of us are suggesting the modified release!!! The tablets did nothing for me , the m/r saved my life

FabbyChix · 30/10/2019 17:35
