I can smell feet !

I can smell feet all the time! It started a few days ago and it’s driving me mad . I have scrubbed my feet , cut toenails, smothered them with cream but can still smell feet. I smell feet in bed , watching tv , at work . My shoes don’t smell and it’s not a strong smell , almost as if the smell is in my nose and not an actual smell iyswim. My ears are fine , don’t have a sore throat , how can I stop smelling feet ? 😩

Sinus problems?

Be1atrix · 15/09/2019 16:49

I get this with smoke. I can smell smoke inside my nose!

ViserionTheDragon · 15/09/2019 16:50

Could you be pregnant?

I haven’t got sinus problems, I haven’t had a cold recently , my nose isn’t blocked.

Smelling smoke can be a sign of epilepsy Be1atrix

Fungal infection in your nose (possibly).

There’s something called potassium permanganate that you buy from a chemist.

Soak your feet in hot water with a few crystals and then leave your feet to dry in the midday sun. Any bacteria causing smells will be killed off.

Alternatively try white vinegar and listerine mouthwash and hot water. Leave in the sun to dry.

You might need to repeat a couple of times.

Replace your shoes.

Have your nose swabbed for bacteria/fungal infection.

Are you in my house? Our new bro pair is a smelly specimen...

FaithInfinity · 15/09/2019 21:33

I kept smelling a feet like smell. It was my Fitbit strap Envy not envy. Replaced it, the smell went. If you can’t find the source it is worth GP visit.

Pantsomime · 15/09/2019 21:36

Also going to suggest pregnant? Or hairband wet/dry from showering?

mineofuselessinformation · 15/09/2019 21:42

Good advice here - look for anything that you wear a lot and have a sniff.
In my case, I wear splints a lot that are mostly made of plastic - they definitely get cheesy if I don't take them off and wash them!

candycane222 · 15/09/2019 22:09

You might have mice? (in the house, not your feet!)

Tractorgirlz · 15/09/2019 22:12

Yep. I second the Fitbit strap too! Colleague & I noticed it one day whilst we were both wearing them! You need to wash under the strap really well and wash the strap itself with soap.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 15/09/2019 23:52

My watch strap gets soaked in Oxy once a week, or it smells rank. It could that, or possibly the earpieces on your glasses, piercings etc.

Candle1000 · 16/09/2019 07:17

I don’t wear a watch or Fitbit. I’ve washed my glasses . I can smell it at work as well as at home so unless I have a mouse living in my hair , it’s not mice ! The smell isn’t strong and if I sniff really hard I can’t smell it , it’s only there when I breathe normally.

Do you need a trip to the dentist?

Grambler · 16/09/2019 09:11

Have you got tonsil stones? Have a squeeze just in case.

Do you have pierced ears? Give them a squeeze too - what white stuff stinks.

Have you washed your slippers recently? Or dressing gown or something you wear a lot like a scarf?

Sunshine1235 · 16/09/2019 09:16

Could it be your breath? Tooth/gum infection?

MaidenMotherCrone · 16/09/2019 09:21

Try gently squeezing where your nostrils meet your face. I bet the pores are congested and have become a bit cheesy.

ComtesseDeSpair · 16/09/2019 09:37

Also reckon it’s a nasal or sinus infection. Or, if you have a nose piercing, that: sometimes I start to smell something a bit “off” everywhere I go and I know it’s time to give my nose ring a proper cleaning.

Grambler · 16/09/2019 09:46

Or did you stick a pea/bead/stone up your noise as a child and it's just started to decompose?

Has it been windy recently? Just remembering DS and his excuse for having gravel up his nose - "the wind put it there" coincidentally the day after his friend had a day off to go to A&E to have something removed from his nose.
