oh yes, the barklay marathons! as a runner myself i couldn't imagine doing that one!

ScarletAnemone · 14/09/2019 22:01

Period. End of Sentence.

It’s about women in a village in India, overcoming the stigma around periods and learning to make affordable sanitary towels. Because 90% of women in India still have to use dirty cloths.

It’s only half an hour.

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/09/2019 22:07

@ScarletAnemone "it's only half an hour" is the best suggestion yet!!

When they see us is very powerful. The best thing I've watched in a long time.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 14/09/2019 22:26

Dirty John is fucking unbelievable.

I watched a documentary the other night about the Costa Concordia; it's worth watching just to listen to the rant from the coastguard to the captain! Shock

1300cakes · 14/09/2019 22:38

The one on Netflix about the Fyre Festival

motorcyclenumptiness · 15/09/2019 00:03

After watching the Ardal O'Hanlon BBC doc on Irish showbands, I'm now watching The Miami Showband Massacre on Netflix. It's v good but v sad.

Gettingorganised21 · 15/09/2019 00:24

Definitely agree with ‘When They See Us’ - so good but a hard watch.

Santasballsack · 15/09/2019 00:48

Loved the keepers, got bored with the staircase. Pizza killers was good but cant remember the name of it.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 15/09/2019 00:53

When they see us. It will make you cry though.

Shelvesoutofbooks · 15/09/2019 03:30

The family is a limited series on netflix and it's pretty good

ItStartedWithAKiss241 · 15/09/2019 03:48

I really enjoyed the show about some black teenagers who were framed for the rape of a white women in Central Park? X

Vahn · 15/09/2019 04:11

The Keepers - a nun who teaches at a US girls school goes missing. It's a dark and disturbing story. You'll want to know what became of Sister Catherine.

The Staircase - did Michael Peterson murder his wife found dead at the bottom of the stairs? 13 episodes of this doesn't sound enticing. But it's absolutely fascinating.

McQueen - Alexander McQueen's meteoric rise to the top of haute couture, and the people who went alongside him. Sadly we know how it ends, but what came before is revealed very well. Gorgeous frocks, but some really unpleasant ones as well.

Mrstwiddle · 15/09/2019 04:46

Absolutely the Staircase, it’s addictive.

The keepers was also quite good and so is Making a Murderer.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/09/2019 14:10

I'll have to make a note of these. I made a start on the staircase last night, slightly pit off by 13 episodes but will keep at it! Just watched Blackfish. I read a thread recently where several people questioned how truthful it was. Whatever, You'd have to be blind to not know that it's just wrong.

Wild, Wild Country and Murder Mountain are both good.

Itsfineactually · 15/09/2019 14:29

Dawn Wall and Free Solo.

YesQueen · 15/09/2019 14:30

Unbelievable

VeganVeganVegan · 15/09/2019 14:34

Please watch when they see us, also watch the oprah programme. I cannot get this out of my head such a powerful programme. I have lost count of how many times I've seen it. I've even bought a tshirt from Raymond Santanas company.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/09/2019 15:16

I did start When they see us late one night, was so tired I forgot I had, so it's there already to continue. I'll start it again though.

Another vote for unbelievable

BenWillbondsPants · 15/09/2019 15:56

I found Blackfish incredibly upsetting, but it's a must watch.

icebearforpresident · 15/09/2019 18:10

I came on here to say The Barkley Marathon, glad a few of you have also seen it. It’s bonkers (in a good way).

Also recommended Long Shot (short, only 40 minutes)Paris is Burning, Being George Clooney and The Story of Glow.

Soubriquet · 15/09/2019 18:15

Another one for Unbelievable

DuggeesWoggle · 15/09/2019 18:23

Real Detective is not a bad watch - it's a partially dramatised documentary series where detectives recall the cases that stuck with them and they talk through how they solved them. Some are really harrowing. Each episode only 45 mins and they are stand alone so not too big a commitment.
