A friend of a friend is travelling over for an extended holiday from Canada.

There asked me for favourite places to go in England and Scotland (already have info for Northern Ireland).

I have some ideas, but would love any hidden gems anyone could add.

I agree with Wales, been in Mid Wales 8 years and am still in awe of how beautiful it is.

Liking the suggestions from @WhoKnewBeefStew. The West Coast is gorgeous.

I'd add in a visit to the islands from Oban. Ferries go to many and various. Mull can be done as a day trip.

Wessex - where you can see Silbury Hill, Hetty Peglers Tump and Avebury in one trip. More interesting than Stonehenge!

Scotland - around Ullapool and the road north from there is fabulous.

@Frith2013 I completely agree about Avebury Vs Stonehenge. Taken a few visitors now, and they've all loved it.

Why would you list places in Wales when the OP specifically asked for England or Scotland? Or did people just assume she was deliberately being offensive by missing Wales out (even though the suggestions are for her friend, not her)?
