Hospital nightie

BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 15:17

I have a nightie with a matching robe that I never wear as I class it as my ' hospital ' nightie.
It stays neatly folded in my drawer. I take it out now and again to wash it and it's matching robe before returning it neatly folded to the drawer.
My husband thinks I'm bonkers as the last time I was in hospital was back in 1992 when our youngest was born.
Maybe he's right, but I like to think if I'm ever admitted to hospital, at least I will have a decent nightie on.
I also keep a pair of new slippers with it, though to be fair I do use them and replace them with another pair when I do.
My sister has a ' hotel ' nightie which she keeps for holidays and weekends away etc.
Does anyone else have a hospital/hotel nightie or is my husband right and I'm bonkers? 🤔

You're bonkers

NotWavingButMNing · 12/09/2019 15:27

Yes. I ended up in hospital last year as an emergency. I had to wear what DH could find which was an ancient skimpy thing that barely covered the necessities. Blush
Since then I have kept a decent nightie at the top of the drawer so I can at least be decent if it happens again.

Redglitter · 12/09/2019 15:29

Hes right - you're bonkers

Why wouldn't you just wear your usual nightie etc in hospital. The past few times I've been in hospital I just wore the pjs I'd usually wear at home. By the look of it so did everyone else

I sleep naked @Redglitter. It's the only piece of sleepwear I possess.

Thank god it's not just me then @NotWavingButMNing. Good to know I have a fellow bonkers hospital nightie owner 😂

If you like it, wear it. If you don't, donate it.

My grandmother used to keep things "for best". It was very sad when we cleared out her house and found a wardrobe of clothes she loved and could afford but never allowed herself to wear.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/09/2019 15:42

I have a hospital bag packed as I'm in a fair bit, but when I go in, it's an emergency so it's in whatever I happen to be wearing.
The staff really, really won't care, and usually one of the first things they do is get you to put on a hospital gown.
Trust me, when I can't breathe, the last thing they are doing is checking my pants for holes or wondering if I have slippers!

BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 15:45

If I donate it, I won't have anything to wear in hospital if I get taken in, which is the point of my ' hospital nightie ' @ Tablecloth.
Though to be fair, according to my husband, it won't be too long before I do given my clumsiness recently 😆

Villaneller · 12/09/2019 15:46

Hang on, you wash it every now and then? Even though it is unworn?

PuffHuffle5 · 12/09/2019 15:48

Nope. You are bonkers, OP.

BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 15:48

That's exactly why my husband thinks I'm bonkers for having a ' hospital nightie ' @ IHaveBrilloHair.
Bit like our mothers demanding that we had clean underwear on daily due to the possibility of being rushed to hospital and ' what would the doctors think?' 😅

I have hotel pyjamas. I wear a nightie at home but prefer pyjamas when away. I do donate the old ones when Im fed up of them and get some new ones in the sale .

Redglitter · 12/09/2019 15:49

I sleep naked. It's the only piece of sleepwear I possess

Now see that puts a different slant in it. In that case a hospital nightie isn't a daft idea at all. Smile

BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 15:49

Yes @Villaneller, so it doesn't smell musty if I need it.
Only a couple of times a year.

HJWT · 12/09/2019 15:50

@BeepBeeeep you should of said that in the OP, obviously if you sleep naked you need a nightie just incase 😂

PuffHuffle5 · 12/09/2019 15:50

If I donate it, I won't have anything to wear in hospital if I get taken in,

What are you talking about?? Just wear your regular stuff. Why do you need special clothing for going to hospital Confused

HJWT · 12/09/2019 15:51

@PuffHuffle5 she added that she sleeps naked at home.

BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 15:52

👍 @Redglitter
That's made me feel less bonkers.

OP posts:
BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 15:53

Sorry yes, I should have put that in. Apologies.

OP posts:
BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 15:55

To be fair though, I would probably still have a hospital nightie even if I wore nighties in bed.
Just the same as my ' holiday tops ' I suppose.
God, now I do sound barking 🤔

OP posts:
IHaveBrilloHair · 12/09/2019 15:56

They'll put a gown or a blanket on you if you are naked, and if it's an emergency you're unlikely to care much.
They're hardly going to stop you from dying to get out your fancy nightie Hmm

20viona · 12/09/2019 15:58

Bonkers

BeepBeeeep · 12/09/2019 16:01

I know @IHaveBrilloHair.
At the end of it all I know the doctors will be thinking of how to treat me / save my life and not ' oh I like her nightie ' 😅

PutyourtoponTrevor · 12/09/2019 16:01

I have a holiday robe, a silk dressing gown which is super light but only to he used on holidays. DP thinks I'm weird as I never use a robe at homr

Walnutwhipster · 12/09/2019 16:06

I spend a ridiculous amount of time in hospital and have a full bag packed ready to go, including toiletries. So far I've been admitted six times this year alone.
