Board game recommendations for 7 yr old

She’s very clever, loves a game of grown up Monopoly (very good at it!). Can anyone recommend something else she might enjoy? I didn’t grow up in a board game playing family so no idea where to start... thanks!

Shut the Box. Not a board game per se but still loads of fun and great for maths skills. We have the 4 player version.

There is a junior version of Catan which my 2 started with. Quite straightforward but engaging enough. Also forbidden island is a collaborative game so you play together to win and you can help her get it (my highly competitive then 8 year old struggled to get the collaborative element for ages).

We started ours off at 7 and now at 10 they are total demons and we love playing as a family. We get vicious.

cluedo junior? or the original cluedo?

Actually Yahtzee is a good shout. And you can download score sheets then all you need is dice....

TheGirlWhoLived · 09/09/2019 21:28

Definitely labyrinth- dd got it ages 7 and LOVES it- really different too!
Other than that we enjoy risk, uno, game of life etc

ThereWere10 · 09/09/2019 21:29

My 7 year old loves Monopoly!
She also likes Legends of Andor (cooperative game)
Pokemon - playing the card game, not just collecting!
Settlers of Catan, 2 player version
Chess!
Junior Stone Age (Aimed at kids so maybe too easy to play with an adult)

whoami24601 · 09/09/2019 21:29

7yo DD loves original cluedo. Also labyrinth. We also like rivers, roads and rails (though you might need a large play space!). UNO is good but not a board game per se

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 09/09/2019 21:31

Exploding Kittens is a hit with granddaughters. Sounded somehow violent to me, but it isn't.

SushiGo · 09/09/2019 21:31

Labyrinth is fun, carcassonne, ticket to ride

Sushi Go card game.

CwtchMeQuick · 09/09/2019 21:32

My 7yo really enjoys cluedo junior, the game of life junior, battleships, Domino’s, pass the bomb, name 5

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/09/2019 21:32

Cluedo
Payday

What about teaching her some card games or chess?

ThereWere10 · 09/09/2019 21:33

Ubongo
Who was it (ravensburger)

Isleepinahedgefund · 09/09/2019 22:16

Thank you for all the suggestions! I’d forgotten about cluedo - loved playing that when I was a kid. She will love it! I see it’s been modernised though and it looks like professor plum Is no more....

Labyrinth looks amazing, I think we would both enjoy that.

Hadn’t thought about chess - I’ve never played so we could possibly learn together.

Kids Articulate is really good for kids and adults.
Kids Trival Pursuits is also very good but she might need a little help.

Crackery · 09/09/2019 22:21

came on to say labryinth!

justwonderingifi · 09/09/2019 22:22

My 7yo loves Ludo

BikeRunSki · 09/09/2019 22:25

Labyrinth or Magic Labyrinth.
Don’t bother with Junior Cluedo, it’s very convoluted, and no simpler thAn the standard game.

Catmint · 09/09/2019 22:26

Sleeping Queens is great!

fluffiphlox · 09/09/2019 22:28

Qwirkle?

ritzbiscuits · 09/09/2019 22:29

Also look at monopoly deal. It's a card game version, my DS is monopoly obsessed and loves it (a good stocking filler)

BikeRunSki · 09/09/2019 22:31

Good call on Qwirkle

opinionatedfreak · 09/09/2019 22:32

Carcassonne.

Start out playing without farming then add it in.

thisisme2018 · 09/09/2019 22:41

Rummikub, my DD age 7 absolutely loves it.

Isleepinahedgefund · 09/09/2019 22:50

Loving the look of Qwirkle - looks like one that would be easy to take on holiday too.

My board game horizons are being thoroughly broadened!
