Lads, it's freezing out. Hit me with your favorite pie filling. I have a dish and some pastry but no standout favorite candidate for this evening's dinner yet!

Mine is a tie between bacon and egg or corned beef and potato. Maybe mince and potato too.

9 veg pie. All the veggies I've got cooked through on the hob with garlic and onion. Make a white sauce, and cheese if you like, combine and shove pastry on the top. Yum!

My pies tend to be leftover casserole with ready rolled puff on top. Paul Hollywood’s corned beef pie is very good though.
And fish pie is my absolute fave.

No sure if you can use preserved lemons but I do use grated lemon peel in Anna Jones's double greens and feta pie. Basically spring onions, greens (I use kale, spinach or spring greens) garlic, eggs, feta and lemon zest wrapped up in filo pastry. 'It's yum!

Christmas dinner pie. Turkey, ham, stuffing, sausages, bacon - layered and liberally doused in gravy. I prefer it done with a flaky pastry, but either works.

In this weather corned beef and potato would work well too.

@IncyWincyGrownUp ...christmas pie is the highlight of the festive season here.

We do several versions

slice up all the cold cuts, layered with the stuffing/gravy, cover with puff pastry (top and bottom)

dice up any cold cuts, make a really thick white sauce, let it cool and then add the cold meat, cubes of any blue cheese, or any cheese you need rid of, puff pastry top and bottom

slice cold cuts and layer with cranberry/bread sauce/gravy and set into a hot water crust...this is really nice warm or cold
