Very small malignant tumour in DH's kidney discovered totally by accident a few months ago. Very lucky it was discovered as 5 years further down the line when symptoms become apparent, cure is much more difficult.

DH (53) currently having robotic keyhole partial nephrectomy surgery to remove the tumour. Not ill at all. Surgeon very confident the surgery will get rid of it. Surgeon is top guy in the country for this type of procedure so DH hopefully in good hands:🤞

I haven't slept properly for 2 months. He is inclined to depression and feelings of impending doom which although I understand, makes it really hard for me.

I haven’t really had anyone to talk to about it and obviously can’t make my fears to him known as he is freaked out enough as it is.

I have between 4 and 5 hours to kill. Someone distract me.

How are you both doing now Brigit ?

BrigitsBigKnickers · 09/09/2019 18:50

Yeah he's ok. Bit more alert. No pain as yet as he is still feeling the effects of the local/ spinal block they put in before the surgery.

Not happy with the catheter but that will come out first thing tomorrow. He didn't need a drain so prob home weds afternoon.

That is good.
I am working tomorrow. Hope it continues to go well.

justilou1 · 09/09/2019 21:41

Did you get any rest?

BrigitsBigKnickers · 09/09/2019 21:53

Snoozed for about ten mins! Now back home having a slight G and T. Hope I can sleep tonight.
Working in the morning and going back tomorrow afternoon.

When I left he just had some IV paracetamol and still had no pain.

Very relieved it's all over.
Thanks for all your support today! X

You’re welcome !

Update- DH doing really well. 10 min walks twice a day and eating and sleeping well. Dressings off.
Surgeon called earlier to say that the pathology confirmed the low grade of the tumour and that the margins were clean. Tentatively hoping that he is cured.

Thank God for the overzealous GP who ordered the original ultrasound ( consultant said he would never have arranged an ultrasound based on his slightly elevated liver blood test results)
