Party hamper for student - ideas please

My niece is a student, shares a house with half a dozen others.
Last year, one of the housemates was given a collection of cocktail items and ingredients and they had a great cocktail evening and my niece raved about it. Was trying to think of something similar for her forthcoming birthday but not cocktails, and not gin as she doesn't like it.
Fall back would be a few bottles of Prosecco and nibbles for pre-drinks before they head off clubbing.
But the genius minds of MN can no doubt come up with something a bit more interesting. Budget £40 ish

Cheap idea but my daughter likes the cakes in a mug that you microwave. You can buy individual ones or Sainsbury's do a pack of 4 in their baking section. You could do that and special hot chocolate, marshmallows etc.

Thank you @marmiteloversunite, that's a good idea.

What about mocktails? And then those friends who are drinkers can add their own vodka etc.

Or maybe a ‘getting ready to go out’ hamper with face masks etc.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 07/09/2019 15:26

More great ideas, thank you

Ok, have grown a pair and come back to say as much as I appreciate the suggestions so far, I don't want anything to do with cocktails as has been done before; beauty evening may not work because mixed house (but still might - and be even more fun, so haven't discounted), and the cup cake might be a part of it but know that it's a bit of a party house so was looking for pre-drinks not cocktails ideas. Not being unappreciative of suggestions so far - have clocked a few of them for Christmas present ideas for other nephews and nieces

Assorted shots and a game of twister. Everything for Irish coffee.
Vodka jelly making kit
Some form of home brew kit, but no idea if that would fit the budget

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/09/2019 20:58

How about some Prosecco plus some nice things to flavour it?
Plus posh olives and crisps?

Or a bottle of Tequila, salt, and lime juice? Plus tortilla chips!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/09/2019 21:00

Bottle of Kirsch and little bottle of Amaretto for flavouring the Prosecco.
Plus some of those flower things that expand in the drink?
Peach puree

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/09/2019 21:01

Or Aperol, Prosecco and soda water

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/09/2019 21:02

Chambord - the bottles are so cute too!

Pixie2015 · 07/09/2019 21:04

I like the idea of tequila! You could get some stick on Mexican moustaches, maybe a sombrero if it would fit! I bought some sombrero shot glasses off eBay for a hen party a while ago. Tortilla chips etc that would be ace pre-drinks!

avocuddl · 07/09/2019 21:10

Ps. You sound like a lovely fun aunt!!

Betsy86 · 07/09/2019 21:10

You could stick a pack of photo props in the hamper can get packs of them on amazon for a couple of pound.
Prosecco fizz sachets to jazz it up abitWine

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/09/2019 21:12

lol to moustaches - I reckon they'd go down well! Grin

QueenImprov · 07/09/2019 21:15

Pimp your Prosecco- use flavoured syrup, fruit etc, different coloured glasses.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 07/09/2019 21:19

Thank you all - I like the idea of a themed hamper like the Mexican one mentioned. Would be fab but not everyone likes tequila - any similar thoughts? Re fun aunt - that's a lovely thing to say. Giggling because the best I got from my aunts was bath cubes and lavender pomanders!!!'

I would probably do a bottle of vodka, fun shot glasses and a drinking game like a shot roulette or drunken artists which is drunk dictionary.
throw in some crisps or some bits to soak it up...

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 07/09/2019 21:25

*drunk pictionary

itsmonday · 07/09/2019 21:31

Bottle of sambuca, some cans of dragon soop

MitziK · 07/09/2019 21:45

A Halloween tub of Haribo.

Freddos. Hundreds of them.

Milkyway stars.

Pom bears.

Prebaked fairy cakes, icing and tubs of sprinkles.

Three packets of jelly, a big plastic jug and a rabbit jelly mould.

And don't forget to send them an advent calendar on November.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 07/09/2019 21:55

@MitziK was struggling to understand the theme - if I have, think I need to add in some fruit shoots and Greggs sausage rolls -if not - have no clue about your theme !!!

All the things they'd have as small children, or at least wish they did, especially at parties or for packed lunches - you could lean more to a packed lunch without the healthy schools rules (I'd probably buy some mini lunchboxes from the poundshop and pack one for each child adult) by including Clubs, Gold Bars or Penguins/Wagon wheels.

Cartons or Capri Sun might work, too.
