Help me choose a Dyson (or not) please

This is boring, I know Smile.

Hoping for help from you lovely ladies, please. Have read several Dyson threads with interest but need a little more help.

I'm scandi and Dyson isnt a big thing here, so haven't anyone to ask.
My house is about 2600 sq ft, we are 2-4 people here most of the time, plus two cats. The house is surrounded by birch trees, so have lots and lots of birch seeds for a couple of months a year.

If I vacuum once a week, I get tumble dustballs Blush. Thinking it wouldn't be such a hassel to vacuum with a Dyson cordless, I'm looking into Dyson 8, 10 or animal. Would love the v8, but do you think it is enough? both v10 and animal are twice the v8 price.

Also do you know how long the battery life is, since you cannot change battery?

They claim one charge will give you up to 60 min. usage (v10) is that your experience? And the v8?

Is it noisy? I currently have an Electrolux low noise one.

And finally would you recommend a Dyson at all?

I have the Dyson V7 and I love it.. i couldn't imagine hoovering and having to lug something about.

Idk about the benefits between different Dyson hoovers but 100% cordless.

theoriginalmadambee · 05/09/2019 16:36

Thanks @PennyGold do you think a v8 could do the job?

Go for a Shark. Much better.

I second @U2HasTheEdge. I always used to buy Dyson but switched to a Shark and would never go back. I have the pet allergy one and it's brilliant. Half the price too.

misspopsicle · 05/09/2019 17:52

After many Dysons, I recommend Shark too

DurhamDurham · 05/09/2019 17:53

Ditched my Dyson last year when it broke and it a Shark which is fab. It literally glides but is effective at the same time, picks up everything. Only down side is the cylinder is small compared to a Dyson so it needs to be emptied much more regularly.

JeffJarrett · 05/09/2019 17:55

Shark convert here too. They're amazing

spinn · 05/09/2019 17:59

Another shark convert here.

theoriginalmadambee · 05/09/2019 18:06

Aah you are really not helping 😂.

Shark sounds great did a Google search one -1! Shop sells Shark here 😢.

Can you recommend this one and will it be up for it?

SHARK IF250EU DUOCLEAN

I would go with shark too.

FurrySlipperBoots · 05/09/2019 18:12

Don't buy a V10 without having a hold of it in Currys or whatever first - It's really heavy!! I have a V6 which I absolutely love. I couldn't recommend it for hard floors though. It's dying now at about 4 or 5 years old but that's probably largely my own fault for never washing the filters.

TowerRingInferno · 05/09/2019 18:24

Get a Miele instead.

Shark are better than Dyson but not as good as Miele imo.

Thisismyusernamefornow · 05/09/2019 18:41

I'm a shark lady too.

AgeingDurannie · 05/09/2019 18:46

Had many Dysons.... three different cordless never met expectations.... battery life too short ( hence usually having two on the go) and dust compartment too small and awkward to empty.... just bough a shark with two batteries and am very impressed... cheaper than the new Dyson, battery life excellent and much easier to empty....

DramaAlpaca · 05/09/2019 18:49

My next cordless will be a Shark. I wouldn't touch a Dyson with a bargepole.

AgeingDurannie · 05/09/2019 18:49

PS I bought Shark DuoClean Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Powered Lift-Away and TruePet [Twin Battery] IC160UKTT

Can almost do entire 5 bed house on one battery if not using the boost button... picks up more dirt than the Dysons did too....

MrsCasares · 05/09/2019 18:51

Sorry, I’m a shark fin (fan) too. Go for a duo clean lift away corded. Much better than a dyson.

EmbarrassingMama · 05/09/2019 18:54

We bought a V6 3 years ago and it’s resigned to the back of the cupboard. Useless product and I wouldn’t buy a Dyson again.
I also have a Miele which I love and, when finances permit, I will be a lightweight Shark for vaccing the kitchen quickly.

MrsCasares · 05/09/2019 18:56

Shark duo clean flexology non corded is great for hard floors.

GreenTulips · 05/09/2019 18:57

I have that shark model and binned the Dyson. Would never buy another one.

It does what it says and it really does a great job carpets look so much cleaner than with the Dyson

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 05/09/2019 19:40

I’m a cleaner. Always had dysons. Needed a new hoover. Got a shark. Never going back to a dyson. Being able to separate it and not carry the whole thing up the stairs is amazing. Light , weighs less and is good. Never getting anything else again

theoriginalmadambee · 05/09/2019 20:07

Oh you are gold 😀
Thank you so much. Shark it is I just hope the one I can get will do the job. I have both carpets and hard floors.

Could i trouble you for which numbers yours are?

Thank you soo much 😉

I have this one: Shark NV601UKT Lift-Away True Pet Bagless Vacuum Cleaner

Alwaysgrey · 05/09/2019 20:17

Two dysons. One is a v6 cordless. I hate them both with a passion and want to get a Miele when funds permit.

kunderscorej · 05/09/2019 20:21

We have Gtech, they are good too! And excellent customer service
