Best face cream for dry Skin

Sassy31 · 03/09/2019 20:46

Can anyone recommend a good face cream for dry skin? I have really dry skin on my nose and chin. No matter what moisturiser or facial oil I have used before putting on my foundation it still looks all flakey. Despite deflaking before putting on foundation 😱 I’ve also upped my multi vitamins & no change .. it’s really driving me nuts now .. Any suggestions?

Weleda Skin Food is really good.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 03/09/2019 20:55

Have you tried an hyaluronic serum? There are many versions in every price range.

MaeveDidIt · 03/09/2019 20:58

Nivea (the original blue pot).

Liz Earle cleanser and cleansing cloths. Aldi’s version is just as good. It comes with cloths for £3 or £4 when they do it. Gets rid of all the flakes and then you can get a moisturiser on and start from scratch.
I’m currently on Avon anew moisturiser. Surprised me how good it was. But even that may not be strong enough if your skins really dry. I think you can get samples from your rep for 40p or some similar small amount. I spent a fecking fortune in skin products. Firmly convinced smokes are the way to go to decide now!

Astral - I love it and so cheap

Livedandlearned · 03/09/2019 21:48

Eau Thermale Avene hydrance is lovely and their hydrating serum transformed my dry red face to a dewy moisturised pleasure.

I had tried all sorts (including 2 mentioned above) for my dry and flaky skin. Then this year I got a specific type of psoriasis which also brought dermatitis around my hairline. After trying all sorts I found a pot of Clinique moisture surge in a drawer and four pots later I swear by it. It not only cleared up the dermatitis in my hairline and around my ears, but my flaky dry skin on my face has gone and I can once again apply makeup

I second the blue tub/tin Nivea

DameSquashalot · 03/09/2019 21:57

I love the smell of blue tin Nivea, but it stings my skin now. Never used to.

I had a good cream from Burt's Bees which was lovely.

Sassy31 · 03/09/2019 21:58

Tried astral & blue Nivea - no good 😢
I'll give Avon a whirl - haven't tried before . What's smokes?
Have you any suggestions for hyaluronic serum Chardonnadistance cousin?
Will try Liz Earle again or the Aldi version .
It's just so annoying having a flakey nose all the time 😢
Thanks for all the suggestions

I had a problem with horrendously dry skin. Since I started using this it's been so much better. Amazing value too. I was using Lancome previously. www.aldi.co.uk/lacura-caviar-illumination-day-cream/p/073196214401402

Sassy31 · 03/09/2019 21:58

Few different skin foods any particular one?

Hyaluronic acid and kiehls ultra facial cream?

LER83 · 03/09/2019 22:02

I swear by aveeno. My skin goes flaky if I've not drunk enough water.

DameSquashalot · 03/09/2019 22:04

I just had a look for the Burt's Bees cream, but I can't remember which one it was.

I'm sure I contacted them and asked for a sample and they sent me a full size.

I'll try and find the email.

Sassy31 · 03/09/2019 22:09

Thank you all
That would be great Damesquashalot

Sorry, I couldn't find it, but I found an email about this which is also great.

When I had cracked dry hands this really cleared it up. It might be about greasy for the day time though.

Itwontrainallthetime · 03/09/2019 22:16

My skin sounds similar to yours.

I use Palmer's cocobutter but not the lotion it's in a little round pot and it's solid and melts when skin touches it

I use it as a over night face mask and it works wonders but is quite thick so I don't put it on every night. But I noticed a difference straight away. I got mine from superdrug. You can use it for all sorts of other things too.

As an every day moisturiser the only I use Olay complete lightweight day fluid in combination skin but the one I have now is for normal oily skin and it's pretty much the same.

Nivea face wipes are also good at moisturising the in the pink packet not the blue, the face cream in the same make is good too but as my skin can be oily as well it is a little too thick.

Have you tried e45 when my skin is really bad this works a treat however it's too thick for everyday use but may help to get rid of the worse of the dead skin .

Elieza · 03/09/2019 22:21

Sorry, meant samples are the way to go. Not smokes. (Spellcheckers playing me up)
You could go to a big Boots and see if they have samples of their creams? They have so many brands. Including Clinique that someone else was suggesting. Better to try before you buy!

Or buy from QVC as you have a 30 day trial period. All you lose is post and packing charges (both ways).

motortroll · 03/09/2019 22:26

Body shop hemp.

Squiff70 · 03/09/2019 22:27

Olay Regenerist 5-point firming serum. I love it!

wizzler · 03/09/2019 22:30

I use the Boots own brand ( the cheap stuff, not no. 7) I think it's called Time delay

summ · 03/09/2019 22:36

I have very dry skin and would highly recommend this L'Oréal moisturiser. I put it on on a morning before my makeup and before bed and my skin is the best it's been in years. https://www.boots.com/loreal-paris-triple-active-nourish-day-moisturiser-dry-to-very-dry-skin-50ml-10129709?cmmmc=bmm-buk-google-ppccPLAsAs--(GB:Whoop!)+L%27Oreal---(GB:Whoop!)+Boots+Shopping+-+Category+-+Beauty+-+Mobile&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyIbXys215AIVArDtCh3pRQjeEAQYASABEgIXpfD_BwE

Elisabeta · 04/09/2019 00:16

Hi!Try Pixi glicolic glow tónic and after use Weleda skin food the green tube.(for face and body)
You'll certainly see good results.

665TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 04/09/2019 07:14

Double base gel
It's about £8.00 for 500g (a pintish size?) In a pump dispenser.
Ask for it at the chemist its not out on display. It's not a "cosmetic" solution. It's an actual solution.
Someone on here recommend it to me a couple of years ago and i find it's brilliant, for my skin at least. Sailed through those central heated dry winter skin days without the usual dry flakiness. Cheap enough to use on any body part in quantity if you want to. Soft heels all summer anyone?
Shame I can't remember who recommended it, but a big thanks if you read this !
