We went to Cornwall for a week in July. We were lucky as the weather was gorgeous and there was plenty for the kids to do. Only complaint was a week didn’t seem like enough Wink. hopefully looking to go abroad next year.

How did everyone else’s holidays go?

2 weeks in Bulgaria. Absolutely beautiful country, lovely people, gorgeous beach and a beautiful hotel. I feel sad I'm not there every evening lol!

Parkmama · 03/09/2019 23:20

We spent 2 weeks in Mudeford near Christchurch, Dorset and loved it. We have a beach hut there and go several times a year, the weather was great, the DD's (4&7) made lots of friends (old and new) and it was very relaxing. We are off to Paris in October half term to take them on the Eurostar and for their first city break, something we loved doing before we had them so hope they are old enough to get something out of it. We are desperate to go abroad all inclusive but it costs a fortune. Next year we are off on a cruise with extended family which is a first! Nice post, I like seeing what everyone has been up to or is planning. Lake Garda sounds fab!

Went to the alps in August. It was fab. Sunny but not too hot - walking, cycling, via ferratas and baguettes.

fantasmasgoria1 · 04/09/2019 04:22

Whitby twice. I am afraid of flying so we holiday here. I love whitby so much, its beautiful and I would live there if I could! We were planning on going to Italy on our honeymoon but I said I want to go to whitby!

proseccoaficionado · 04/09/2019 04:50

5 days in Amsterdam (first time, we loved it), a week in Turkey and a few days at the seaside

fairydustandpixies · 04/09/2019 05:54

Nowhere, haven't had a holiday in over four years...sniff!!!

ShanghaiDiva · 04/09/2019 06:20

We had two weeks in Australia in Feb - Adelaide and then Margaret River. Have been several times before but still fab and Western Australia has amazing beaches.
Week in KL in April - interesting, but no desire to go back
Summer - Korea and Japan - travelled by bus and train around Korea - good value and loved Gyongju. Osaka was great and we went to Universal studios which was horribly expensive, but dd loved it.
Dd and I also went to Hoi An in Vietnam for a week - been there several times before and it's one of my favourite places and great value - beautiful hotel with two pools and great food for less than a premier inn in the UK.

Underhisi · 04/09/2019 06:20

Nowhere because ds has autism and school holidays are too busy everywhere. We live close to the Lake District and Dales so did some early morning trips out to the quieter places before most tourists were out and they were good.

PorpentinaScamander · 04/09/2019 06:24

Nowhere. And we probably won't have a holiday later in the year either.
The dc have had a couple of weekends camping with the extended family though and went to Cornwall with their Nana for a week.

Skittlenommer · 04/09/2019 06:28

I’ve lost count of how many times DH and I have been away this year. Currently in the states. Back home (UK) at the end of the week and then flying to Prague four days later. Away again in December. I think we’ve been away every month this year so far! 🤔

It’s always amazing and this trip is no exception! Grin

Croatia for 2 weeks, Zadar, Trogir then Cavtat near Dubrovnik. It was lovely but expensive compared to my best holiday ever which was last year in Garda and Venice.

whattodo2019 · 04/09/2019 06:41

A week in Devon at my parents
4 weeks on the Isle of Wight on family holiday house
Another week in Devon

Absolutely fabulous summer!! Definitely do it again

lorn195 · 04/09/2019 06:44

@Helmlover1 we did a staycation in Cornwall as well, but on the true sense as we live there. Spent some with DH walking along the coastal path and exploring places we have never been to.

MinnieMountain · 04/09/2019 06:50

SisterSistine where did you stay in Austria?

We had a week in Switzerland which was stunning but expensive as PP have said. It got DS walking down mountains but his favourite bit was probably the youth hostel having a pool. DH and I loved going to the spa there.

We also stayed in a caravan in north Pembrokeshire for 2 weeks. Many lovely days swimming in the sea and climbing over rocks. I did my first organised sea swim. DH and DS went coasteering, which DS loved.

Bloomburger · 04/09/2019 06:51

Went to Barcelona for a city break which we all loved. Started in really decent hotel which was super clean and not expensive. Went to the cathedral and the zoo and all the normal touristy bits. Was nice as DS actually had to get out of bed each day before noon to come out with us.

Went to Tuscany during 6 weeks hols. Rented a beautiful villa and had friends and family come out. Had days in different cities, Siena, Perugia and Florence and age and drank far too much. The owners of the villa come in and cook dinner for you and the food is amazing and they produce their own wine and Prosecco which is there in abundance for you to drink. So DH and I are now on a detox and diet. Only thing which annoyed me is that DS spent most of the time in bed or watching the bloody cricket. (DH reckons if that's his perfect holiday then we should leave him to it but I think it's a bloody waste when we spend money to go somewhere and he does stuff he can do in his bloody room at home).

SleepyKat · 04/09/2019 06:56

Went to Riverira Maya area of Mexico. Stayed in an amazing hotel which was in 60 acres of grounds. Lots of wildlife.

Hired a car and was out exploring a lot. Lots of Mayan ruins to go and see, cenotes to swim in, etc. Was amazing.

khaleesi71 · 04/09/2019 07:02

@bestbefore - we were there in March so weather was perfect 26-27 and hotter in the klein Karoo. We took DS out of school as it was a major family event. Really recommend it as a family holiday destination - we felt safe always and the country is amazing.

Ffsnosexallowed · 04/09/2019 07:05

Kephalonia for 2 weeks, it was beautiful, weather was great, food was fantastic, loved it.

CottonSock · 04/09/2019 07:09

Nerja, South Spain in April after hearing about it on here. Cheap holiday even at Easter.
August edge of Cotswolds and Suffolk. Went from rainy to bloody boiling. West Midlands safari park was good. Lots of national trust places. Playgrounds and a nice cottage with shared pool and trampoline. I paid 600 for the week do pretty pleased with it.

VelvetKitty · 04/09/2019 07:10

DP and I went to the Dominican Republic for a week in late April which was amazing and the we took our DC to Crete for a week in August which was also lovely but much less of a relaxing holiday!! Grin

PreschoolPlease · 04/09/2019 07:11

We went to Lake Garda in May for just over a week, a week in Dorset in June, then a month tomorrow off to Majorca for a week. DS is 3 so still out of school holidays.

cortex10 · 04/09/2019 07:24

Dartmouth for two weeks in August - to coincide with a family event in the town. Suited us very well - lovely house by the harbour with parking (rare in Dartmouth). Lazy days pottering around the town and watching the world go by on the harbour, lovely meals out and day trips to interesting places. Weather was good too.

Rafflesway · 04/09/2019 07:25

Presently on Bali! Bliss 😎😎😎!!!

Phu Quoc, Vietnam in March - disaster as I caught dreadful flu virus on the outbound flight and was really ill the whole time.😷
Also, we love other parts of Vietnam but not Phu Quoc. 😞

happycamper11 · 04/09/2019 07:26

2 weeks in Cyprus- amazing! DC at age 6 and 9 were loving more exploring than previous years.

First attempt camping in Scotland - great despite the rain. Again DC loved it and were at an age to be helpful (single parent negotiating tent erecting etc)

Chocolatecake12 · 04/09/2019 07:34

We went to jersey. Had a lovely holiday - ate some of the best food ever and the scenery was stunning.
