We went to Cornwall for a week in July. We were lucky as the weather was gorgeous and there was plenty for the kids to do. Only complaint was a week didn’t seem like enough Wink. hopefully looking to go abroad next year.

How did everyone else’s holidays go?

We went interrailing too. With DC’s 9-11-14. Budapest-Vienna-Venice-Piacenza-Lugano-Lake Constance-Paris-home (19 days). Fantastic.

Tatum1234 · 03/09/2019 21:34

We did 3 weeks in Florida at Easter, it was amazing and the kids loved it. Can’t wait to go back.

travailtotravel · 03/09/2019 21:36

Madagascar. Oh.my.god - amazeballs.

hellypad · 03/09/2019 21:37

@writersbeenblocked we stayed in a Eurocamp but you needed a car, we drove all the way there from England which was great. If we went back would get a villa I think, the town was called
Peschiera Del Garda and it was beautiful. We visited Verona and Salo, both were lovely. We also did the water park and theme park for the kids. We feel like we only scratched the surface of what there is to see.

Funghi · 03/09/2019 21:38

Stompy where in Costa Rica did you go to?

travailtotravel wow what wildlife did you see?

I love hearing about people’s holidays Grin

Tobermory · 03/09/2019 21:39

We went to Italy, the first time after ten years of holidaying in France. It was fantastic!
Venice, it’s islands and the Lido for
A week then a week near lake Garda. It’s a stunningly beautiful area, mountains, beautiful towns and the lake itself. The only downside is the pounds I put on wotha diet of pizza, giletto and limoncello!
@sleepwhenidie. Interrailing? We saw a TGV around Garda and wondered how easy it would be to get there on a train. Have you done that kind of holiday before? Where did you stay? Did your kids miss a pool? What did your 9 year old think about it- I have one of those! And... would you recommend it?

BarrenFieldofFucks · 03/09/2019 21:39

We went to the canaries in January, the kids' first trip abroad. Was very easy (all inclusive) and good fun. Not the best weather all the time, but fun. My first warm birthday in 38 yrs 😁

Then camping in Wales for a fortnight this summer. We took a tent instead of usual motorhome/caravan as there was a particular site we wanted to stay in. We have decided we fucking hate tents. Even the kids do. The campsite itself was fricking awesome, so will be back next yr with the motorhome dh has since bought and is in the process of doing up. We have done a couple of weekends away in it since.

We are currently at centre parcs, as school doesn't go back until next week making it vaguely affordable as we are out of holiday time.

We are lucky that we live on the Isle of Wight, so have a lot of beach days with no real effort any time the weather is nice.

MrsJBaptiste · 03/09/2019 21:40

South of France - fab location and weather but so expensive.

The ferry, tolls, petrol, food, campsite... I think we'd have spent less having a 2 week All Inclusive pool holiday 🤔

SisterSistine · 03/09/2019 21:46

Austria, in the mountains. Bloody brilliant. Swam in lakes, ate a lot of schnitzel and cake. Lake holidays definitely win for me over beach ones.

ZenNudist · 03/09/2019 21:48

Croatia near Dubrovnik. Not as nice as previous holidays near Split or Pula.

Villa was great, kids loved the pool, food was nice but no variety and palled a little after 2 weeks of it.

Will never go to Croatia in August again. Waaay too hot and got many insect bites.

Also thought Dubrovnik was too busy and disneyfied. Felt as if it we're one big outdoor restaurant/ tourist shop.

MegBusset · 03/09/2019 21:50

Week in a North Yorkshire cottage, it was fantastic and we got really lucky with the weather. However, the kids have asked for a holiday with less walking next year ("We want to relax, not get fit!") - they'll be 11 and 13 and I think they'd enjoy a villa or quiet resort with a good pool and Wifi, but the youngest refuses to fly so need somewhere easily accessible by car Confused

troppibambini · 03/09/2019 21:50

We went to Marbella got back this afternoon. We had an apartment on the beach and five mins from the old town. It was absolutely amazing we go most years but usually stay in a hotel this was so much nicer this way and the location was just brilliant.

underneaththeash · 03/09/2019 21:50

We went to Cornwall and Center Parcs. Both great.
We’ve been to lake Garda in August before and it was waaayyy to hot and there were far too many people.

Mother87 · 03/09/2019 22:16

Kalkan in south-east Turkey - divine...Stunning views/gorgeous town... Širinçe (shirrin-jay) further north - beautiful... North Carolina - beautiful... Costa Adeje in Tenerife - you know exactly what you're getting - quiet/sunny/good walks and great food...

ilovebagpuss · 03/09/2019 22:20

Cornwall for a week was fantastic good weather lovely cottage just really chilled and lots of beach time. Pembrokeshire with In Laws for a week equally good lovely beaches and nice weather for U.K.
couple of camping trips with friends cheap and cheerful but good laugh.

Dowser · 03/09/2019 22:26

Three weeks in Tenerife in March was lovely . Not as hot as last year
Currently on holiday now. Fab week last week in Cardiff. This week Dorset. Just had annual trip today Glastonbury today
Home at the weekend then Tenerife for two weeks on October and December
In between whiles we spend half the week caravanning.

I’m very lucky.

ButDoYouAvocado · 03/09/2019 22:33

Cape Verde. Was hot but cloudy nearly every day. Food was the same every day. Came back wishing we hadn't bothered. Yes first world problem I know.

soupmaker · 03/09/2019 22:41

Dorset for 10 days. Had gorgeous weather. Loved exploring along the coast, swimming in the sea, flying kites at the top of cliffs, eating out every day, seeing some sights and properly chilling with the kids. Bliss.

MeganChips · 03/09/2019 22:48

We went to Crete, it was absolutely lovely. We only really managed the north and eastern sides of the island so I’d like to go back and do the south and west. There’s not many places I’d like to return but Crete was one.

dementedma · 03/09/2019 22:51

4 nights in Budapest, Air BnB. Weather very hot. It was ok, very busy with tourists ( including us).

Gertie75 · 03/09/2019 22:58

We first had a week in the Lake District, wall to wall sunshine and fantastic walks, I was a bit worried dd's wouldn't enjoy it as it's not a beach holiday (they're 4 & 6) but they loved it, they climbed their first mountain, paddled in streams and Lakes, had a moonlit picnic and both want to go again.

We then had a lovely week in Cornwall, again lovely weather so the usual beach days, sunsets, ice creams etc

We've also spent most of the weekends inbetween at our caravan so it's been a busy year with a few more to go, we joined the National Trust for the first time in February so it's been great to explore the big houses and gardens plus get free parking at a lot of beauty spots.

drsausage · 03/09/2019 22:59

I went to England for 2 weeks. It was absolutely lovely mainly because I spent all my time with people I adore. And it didn't rain much.

TrickyKid · 03/09/2019 23:03

Two weeks in Wells Next The Sea. Glorious weather and so relaxing. Will be going again.

AJPTaylor · 03/09/2019 23:05

Nine Muses Hotel in Kefalonia as recommended on mumsnet. It was perfect.

Quartz2208 · 03/09/2019 23:06

We did lake Garda as well ten days in an apartment in Bardolino. Best Europe holiday we have had for ages. Great Lake to swim in, pool, good food and a great theme park and wildlife park
