We went to Cornwall for a week in July. We were lucky as the weather was gorgeous and there was plenty for the kids to do. Only complaint was a week didn’t seem like enough Wink. hopefully looking to go abroad next year.

How did everyone else’s holidays go?

Boa Vista in Cape Verde. A beautiful desert island and not at all crowded. The best holiday of my life.

happypotamus · 03/09/2019 20:40

We went to Borth (Wales). It was nice. We have been to the area before and all of DH's childhood holidays were there. The weather wasn't always great, but we still spent plenty of time on the beach so DC were happy. It was good to just have a week off work spending time with DH and DC.

Stompythedinosaur · 03/09/2019 21:03

We went to Costa Rica in May which was amazing, a real holiday of a lifetime for us.

Also went camping in the lakes in August, which was a little rainy but still nice.

Road trip to Cres island in Croatia. Beautiful and not touristy - no resorts just camping and self catering apartments. No Brits either!
We’ve only go away every 3 years so it was most welcome. CroatIa is expensive though, not as cheap as we thought. We were able to be quite frugal though.

Three weeks in Benalmadena in Southern Spain. The weather was amazing, I have Psoriatic Arthritis and my skin cleared up completely, my joints weren’t swollen or painful either! The climate definitely helps it.

The little area we stay has lovely little bars and restaurants, the beach is great. It was perfect! The three is us (DH,DS & I) had such a lovely time.

Drove a Motorhome through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany ,Switzerland and into Italy. It was a real adventure. Would love to go back to Switzerland and Germany for longer. Luxembourg forests were amazing. There were little deer, red squirrels. A real surprise.

Went to Paris , Bordeaux and deauville for three weeks. ( not our normal holiday and was supposed to be a 2nd honeymoon )

Had a wonderful time. So many things to do and so many things I didn’t get to see so will go back.
Versailles was stunning and gorgeous , Disney was okay. Deauville was so beautiful, went to the beach and the horse racing.
Next year will be soooo much less exciting Hmm

Also meant to say. We didn’t do the toll roads in France to save over £250. I’m so glad we did. Saw so much of France we would have missed. Some beautiful villages, we stopped the car several times to see things and take photos. Worth while the extra few hours now it took to get to places.

Expressedways · 03/09/2019 21:13

Had to leave Charleston early due to a mandatory evacuation because of the hurricane! Despite that it was actually a pretty good trip. We also did the South of France but flight connections, delays and lack of sleep made that one a bit stressful. Also had a long weekend in Florida to a resort with a kid’s club and I think that was the best of all!

bestbefore · 03/09/2019 21:13

@khaleesi71 what was the weather like in SA? Were you there in the school summer holidays?

Walkingthedog46 · 03/09/2019 21:13

Had a wonderful week in Jersey in July. Fantastic weather and so much to see. No need for a car as we went everywhere by the very efficient bus service.

Ylvamoon · 03/09/2019 21:16

Lake Constance in August, lovely hot weather but also spectacular thunderstorms! Lots to do and stunning scenery with the Alps as backdrop.

NorthEndGal · 03/09/2019 21:16

Newfoundland Canada for two weeks, to see family. It was brilliant. I got to see whales, hand jig for cod (caught 4 keepers),
Fed eagles, went seaglassing in Dildo, explored a few abandoned farms, went to a shed party, and loads more!

Where did you go on holiday this year and how was it?
StrumpersPlunkett · 03/09/2019 21:16

Southern Germany near the lakes and Munich
Glorious!!

C0untDucku1a · 03/09/2019 21:17

Somerset and London for us this summer. Australia and Greece next year. We go abroad every other year.

bluechameleon · 03/09/2019 21:18

Normandy. It was wet but we had fun anyway.

june2007 · 03/09/2019 21:19

Cornwall near newquey. It was a more relaxed holiday due to hubby health. But we camped at usual and went to beaches it was enjoyable, and better then I had anticipated. 9Due to health issues not location.)

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 03/09/2019 21:21

Went on an Alaska cruise with DH and friends. Lovely ship, great food, amazing scenery. Scenic cruising in College Fjord amazing. Watching the Marjory Glacier calving was incredible. But oh my goodness it was cold. Wearing hats and gloves in August.

sheshootssheimplores · 03/09/2019 21:22

Devon. We were lucky with the weather but the eight hour drive there and back due to traffic has made me vow never again (at least for five years!!)

RunningNinja79 · 03/09/2019 21:23

Went to Butlins in June and 2 weeks on the French Riviera just recently.

Love Butlins. Its tacky and loud, but good fun.

Love the south of France too. Favourite places are Cannes and Monaco. Not a massive fan of St Tropez, but I can say I've been. Its the dream retirement destination for both me and DH.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/09/2019 21:25

Boa Vista in Cape Verde. A beautiful desert island and not at all crowded. The best holiday of my life.

We went there 5 years ago and I still yearn to go back. I've never been so relaxed.

La Palma in March/April. It was glorious. It's one of our favourite places because it's relatively unspoilt. The weather was beautiful and it wasn't busy. We met some lovely people there and explored the island a bit more. We spent many evenings star gazing.

We're off to Menorca in a fortnight for 10 days. We love it there. As it's just me and DH now we go off in the car looking for different beaches. I can't wait.

TheresWaldo · 03/09/2019 21:27

DD (15) had declared our normal Eurocamp in France holiday as BORING so we went interrailing in Eastern Europe instead. It was fun, if maybe not relaxing - not a pool in sight! Prague I was disappointed by as expensive and overrun these days. Been lots of times but years ago. Loved Bratislava (which was a surprise) and especially Budapest which was marvellous. Vienna was a bit dull but we had a lovely apartment. Munich - we only had one night but I'd like to go back for longer. The teenager, whose idea it was, still liked being on her phone and access to Netflix more than any of the sights, so next year I am focusing on swimming pool and good internet and she can do what she wants.

Delatron · 03/09/2019 21:27

Portugal. Agree it’s a good place for August, not too hot with the Atlantic breeze (I like hotter though!)
Was quite cheap and the beaches were fab. Sea obviously freezing!

newtb · 03/09/2019 21:31

Going in 11 days - first holiday in 3 years, a week in a little house with it's own pool; sleeps 9 and only 300€ for a week.

Not Gîtes de France, but a site called amivac. Really looking forward to it - only drawback the wife of the owner wants to practice her English, and I want to be under the parasol on my own in my FF bravissimo bikini Grin with possibly some chilled rosé if I can sort out my dodgy crown that doesn't like cold drinks before I go.

Muddlingalongalone · 03/09/2019 21:31

Jersey - it was pricier than our normal caravan park in the UK but perfect hotel for us.
Actually wondering if it was the same place as @Bluewavescrashing
Never go back to places but sorely tempted to book for next summer now.
