Can anyone help with quick tea/supper ideas?

Dd is starting school this week. She gets a good, but small portion of school dinner and a snack (sandwich quarters and fruit) at after school club. We’ll get home around 5ish, so I need to give her something but i doubt she’ll eat a big dinner. I’ve got pesto pasta and a hummous picky bits plate so far but I’m stuck! She doesn’t eat egg Hmm

I’m sure it’s been done before, but I can’t find anything using search.

Beans on toast?

ThePhoenixRises · 31/08/2019 21:13

Pizza

ThePhoenixRises · 31/08/2019 21:15

You can do the muffin pizzas.

Cut a muffin in half and lightly toast, cover base with tomato purée or tomato ketchup, sprinkle a few herbs if required and then top with cheese or whatever's else you fancy and grill until the cheese is melted.

Cheese on crackers with chopped veg

Scotch pancakes

Weetabix and banana

Banana on toast

Bowl of porridge

Fried rice

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 31/08/2019 21:19

I know you say she won’t eat egg but would she eat a pancake? I make DS a banana pancake which is just one egg, one banana and 1/4 cup of oats. Blend up fry in a pan for a couple of mins each side and you’re done.

Tuna pasta, pizza, jacket potato with beans and cheese, fish finger sandwich are our usual quick meals.

Or leftovers from previous night. Or something is batch cooked when I was feeling productive (less likely.)

Wibblewobble99 · 31/08/2019 21:36

Similar here but nursery instead of school. So far we’ve got:

  1. Hidden veg pasta sauce (I’ve frozen it in portions so only have to cook the pasta)
  2. Mac and cheese (again batch made sauce so just have to cook macaroni and some frozen veg)
  3. Sainsbury’s do chicken goujons in fresh that only take 15 mins in the oven when frozen
  4. Cheese toasties
  5. Beans on toast
  6. Will she eat quiche as there’s a great BLW recipe by Natalie Peall for mini broccoli quiches that freeze really well. Actually she does a lot of recipes that freeze well

Hope your DD enjoys school

My kids love egg fried rice. I fry off some leftover chicken or if none you can use ham or prawns etc.

Add some veg, mine like sweetcorn and peas

Add some cooked rice (either cooked yourself that microwave stuff)

Then make a well in the middle of all the rice mixture, crack in an egg and whisk it into the rice, cook for a minute more.

My kids love it and takes under 5 minutes.

DarwinLoves · 31/08/2019 21:45

Oh also my children love this too, especially served in a mug! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ds1 eats a lot of chicken wraps or chicken pita breads after school.
Pasta or the little kids pizzas are popular here.
Frozen mash is great too, with sausages, chicken, fish fingers etc.

DarwinLoves · 31/08/2019 21:53

Apologies, just remembered no egg! The fried rice is good too without the egg!

AtleastitsnotMonday · 31/08/2019 21:59

Stir fry with the ready chopped sir-fry veg, rice noodles and nuts s super quick, just give a small portion.
Cheese and crackers with crudités.
Shop bought or batch cooked falafel in pita
Cous cous with a handful of frozen peas and some cooked chicken pieces.

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/08/2019 22:01

Tuna pasta bake
Macaroni cheese
jacket potato and beans

EchoLimaYankee · 31/08/2019 22:01

@Greaterthanthesumoftheparts she will eat pancakes. She loves the ones with just banana and egg, so adding oats is a great ideas. Thank you!

@ThePhoenixRises She loves a pizza and enjoys helping make them so this would be a real win. Thanks!

@DarwinLoves noodles are a big hit here so this is a total win thanks.

@Wibblewobble99 hope your LO has a great first week.

Everyone else, thank you! Some super ideas here.

Banana loaf with peanut butter

We do mini tortilla pizzas - passata/cheese and toppings on a mini tortilla and grilled for max 3 mins

My LO loves homemade chicken noodle soup (basically homemade stock with little noodles in)

Mine both love slow cooker meals xx

Mini burgers, fried potatoes and salad veg.
Vegi "kebabs" (No Bull ones), pitta and yogurt.
A "rice bowl" of cooked rice, cooked broccoli, cucumber, tomatoes and pickles. Nuts for protein.
DS is a fussy eater and these are my meals for when I can't be bothered to argue with him at supper time.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 01/09/2019 10:39

I also make little pizzas with the 'thins', originally warburtons I think but now loads make them, makes a nice thin pizza base for a change.
Quesadillas. 2 large or small tortilla wraps with filling, mine like just grated cheese and ham. Then flip either side in a frying pan with some spray oil to brown/ crisp the tortilla and melt the cheese. Really quick and simple and tasty.

Milicentbystander72 · 01/09/2019 10:45

We always resort to

Beans on toast
Fish finger sandwich
Bacon, pasta and pesto.

Also quick stir fry with noodles is a favourite - any veg or left over meat fried a bit in oil. Coat in a little honey, tiny dollop of ketchup and soy sauce. Goes a bit sticky and saucy. Add noodles and mix. Less than 10 minutes. Kids favourite.
