Wedding anniversary dinner central London

10th wedding anniversary coming up. Looking for something special for dinner.

We’ll eat anything, within reason. We live in the South West so we’re very spoiled for high quality local ingredients down here, especially fish and seafood. I suppose modern European/British is closest to what we would go for given the choice.

Boisdale in Canary Wharf is nice. They have live music and a lovely bar for drinks afterwards.
My fave place is Brasserie Zedel in Piccadilly.

Yotam · 30/08/2019 20:53

I’m going for lunch at le Gavroche for mine.

Mummacake · 30/08/2019 20:53

The Wolsey in Piccadilly is lovely 🥰

underneaththeash · 30/08/2019 21:00

We like Mere (and Le gavroche)

PalindromicUser · 30/08/2019 21:11

Interesting @Mookie81. I had dinner at the counter at Brasserie Zedel recently and wasn’t that impressed with the service. In fairness, I was in a real hurry to eat and get out before a show. And the man next to me who was old enough to be my dadinsisted on trying to strike up a conversation when I clearly wasn’t interested.

It does tick the boxes of fun and affordable enough to really push the boat out.

DH is dead keen to do The Wolsley after a great meal there with clients a few years ago. Something is making me pause though.

Will look at Le Gavroche for lunch, too. We have a weekend there.

Any thoughts on Murano or Galvin at Windows? I get the impression the latter is trading on the Fred Siriex Factor these days.

Mere, Charlotte Street.

I had a really good meal at Galvin le Chapel in June, every course was sensational and the service was good, not obtrusive. Mazi in Holland Park was also good, end of July. Modern Greek, delicious vegetables. Mazi isn’t a white table cloths & lots of waiters place though. I think that the Ninth in Fitzrovia is amazing, their tarte tatin with rosemary ice cream is one of those dishes I’ll never forget. Lunch at one of the branches of Barrafina is excellent (probably not formal enough for a romantic dinner).

Mookie81 · 30/08/2019 21:55

@PalindromicUser I think I actually like the Bar Americain that's part of the restaurant more than the actual restaurant! Grin

Mookie81 · 30/08/2019 21:56

My MIL loves Rules in Covent Garden.

Artesia · 30/08/2019 21:56

Cold Maggiore if you can get a table- esp if you can get one in the conservatory. Stupidly romantic and lovely food.

When are you celebrating?

Mother87 · 30/08/2019 21:59

Another one for Clos Maggiore in the conservatory...

Murano was mind blowingly good when I went but was a few years ago now, not long after they opened. I still remember what I ate there though Smile

lalafafa · 30/08/2019 22:18

The menu looks great

Thanks @Mookie81

Galvin La Chapelle - went for lunch about 4 years ago and the food was superb but it was deathly quiet on saturday lunchtime. Perhaps busier in the evening at the weekend?

I’ve also thought about Wild Honey, good shout. Siren looked like it got distinctly mixed initial reviews.

And yes, Clos Maggiore always gets listed for most romantic. Is the food any good though?

It will be mid-October.

I can vouch for the food at Clos Maggiore being amazing! And I am extremely fussy.
What’s most important to you OP - food/atmosphere/views??

Rapunzelrella · 30/08/2019 22:25

Try locanda locatelli, a few streets behind marble arch

Mother87 · 30/08/2019 22:29

Artesia🤩
